There are some genuinely very nice people in the TV biz, and iCarly creator Dan Schneider is one of them. Over the past couple of months I've watched how he's dealt with fans both on his blog and Twitter accounts and it's really very nice to see.
iCarly is indeed a ratings beast, but as a 47 year old man, it's not really in my TV viewing wheelhouse. But one thing I did not know until recently was that in the 1980s, Schneider had a role in one of my favorite movies of the 1980s, Better Off Dead where he played Ricky Smith (the neighbor kid who has the hot foreign exchange student staying with his family). Schneider also played Dennis on Head of the Class from the mid 1980s to early 1990s.
And on top of that he created the ratings beast that is iCarly and seems a genuinely nice man!
Dan has a lot of the kids' demos from for the week of 9/7-9/13 posted and that week, iCarly beat out the 2009 MTV VMA's with kids 12-17 (1.725M vs. 1.586M), which is notable because it was the best VMA performance since 2002.
Sadly, cutting and pasting the numbers from his blog didn't format very well, but you can get all the kids' demo details on Dan Scheider's blog, DanWarp.

Yes, Dan Schneider is a very nice person. He’s great in sharing his thoughts and feelings about how he does things on his show. He lets fans into a world that many don’t get to see… how a show is created, written, produced, filmed, edited, etc. It’s very cool. I would encourage everyone interest to follow his Twitter — @DanWarp.
BTW, Dan got the numbers for the kid demos from http://www.Cynopsis.com‘s Kids Edition. They usually post daily network averages for kids 2-11, 6-11 and 9-14. Plus, they post weekly #s for kids 2-11, 6-11, 9-14 and 12-17 for the top 10 shows on both cable & broadcast… really cool!
Wow that’s pretty impressive!
