nkinsey – If CBS axes a series early, new Flashpoint would at least be better than repeats of another series (likely NCIS LA) They have 9 episodes to test out. After that CBS could either order another Flashpoint season or cancel the series. They’ll probably axe the series but airing 9 episodes as a replacement (especially if The Bridge and Miamia Trauma arent ready yet) is not a bad idea.

ABCfanatic – Oh and Melrose Place wont be cancelled.

NCIS is a great show , has both serious and comedy in the original as for the LA, well its not the great show we thought it might be. Will stick to the original and say wait and see on the LA version..

I loved NCIS this week. I’ve watched from the beginning and it just gets better and better. Tony gets funnier and funnier as time goes by and I think he and Michael and Mark Harmon make the show.
Criminal Minds was so much better than L&O:SVU this week and I’m a regular viewer of both.

I agree with you about Flashpoint. With its inexpensive episodes, anything goes with that. Hell, even if they don’t air it this year, I could still see them bring it back. It’s not like the production company is waiting for their meager ep order; the show is still doing well in Canada.

The Forgotten is in danger. Right now ABC aren’t good with the ratings when it comes to cop dramas.

Bill, I knew Eleventh Hour and The Unit would be axed, but I was 50/50 on Without a Trace and Cold Case. Despite Trace having the bigger numbers, CBS axed it possibly because it was slightly more expensive than Cold Case. Cold Case will be axed in May, I dont think any other veteran series will be cancelled this May. Besides CC, I think Three Rivers, The Good Wife, Miami Trauma, and The Bridge will be axed by the end of the year. One of the midseason shows could continue. I also don’t think Flashpoint will return after the 9 episodes but its really cheap so anything can happen.

KLE, I don’t need to rely on my memory (god help me if I did), I have the numbers!

Eleventh Hour’s season average 18-49 rating was 2.8.

CBS’ season average 18-49 rating was 2.88.

If that’s not the definition of borderline, what is?

I still thought it would get renewed vs. Cold Case and Without A Trace, but CBS picked Cold Case instead.

No, Bill I’m not mistaken. You like to think you know everything.
I checked up on Eleventh Hour’s ratings every Friday, on the zap2it site. They did not have excellent ratings but they had decent ratings for Thursday’s night and combined with CSI’s high ratings ranked CBS as number one in households for Thursday nights. The point is it got cancelled.

The Forgotten wasn’t very good, but it did get 10 million viewers. I don’t get why you said it was “nearly forgotten”. 2.7 in the demos isn’t horrific either.

nkinsey – I already know that this is Cold Case’s last season. I had a strong feeling that Without a Trace would be axed last year just because it was a season older. Despite Trace performing actually well for tuesdays at 10, it ended up being let go due to budget reasons. With a Three Rivers lead in and airing at 10pm, Cold Case will likely dwindle, and even axing Three Rivers wont help the series. Cold Case may likely revert to its 9pm slot but ratings will still be down. I expect that CBS would axe Cold Case next season and renew every other veteran drama as well as new series NCIS: LA and Medium. If they do that, then 3 slots will be available (Sundays at 9, Sundays at 10, and Tuesdays at 10) depending on if CBS decides to move any shows. I dont think The Good Wife would get a second season, and also likely not the two midseason dramas.

I agree Cold Case will be on the bubble again this year. The writing was on the wall last seson when CBS was publicly debating to keep Without a Trace or Cold Case. If their ratings don’t improve (though they’ll probably get worse after Three Rivers), this will be their swan song season.

The Curse of Bruckheimer On Any Network That Isn’t CBS continues. Obviously, not everybody who was missing “Without a Trace” bothered to check out “The Forgotten.”

“The Good Wife” got sampling, but it won’t hold. Show’s got no pulse. Neither does Julianna Margulies. I would have accused her of being over-Botoxed, but then I remembered she only had one expression to begin with — constipated grimace. Tech credits were low, to boot. But I do give Nina Tassler credit for putting a completely and totally unhip show on the air which is about a woman who isn’t a complete and total slut. Why, I believe that’s a first for her!

And I don’t even think Heather Locklear could save this “Melrose Place.” If this is the future of The CW, it’s time to break out the toe tag.

RW I actually think its a good Idea, here is australia, Numb3rs was put after NCIS and the 2 became a dominate dou and were very compatable. I think it will fit with CBS Tuesdays very well. Ten then destroyed the dou, by moving Numb3rs to post House (which was on the decline) and was taken off the air 2 weeks ago. Fans are scraming cos NCIS LA starts here on Wednesday and Numb3rs would of got the lead out slot. Instead it will be an NCIS repeat. Lie to Me now airs after NCIS and they are another strong combo, but i would perfer that Ten coppie Fox and Put Lie to Me with House. NCIS LA will get the post MasterChef slot starting next wednesday (which would be the equivilant to Post Amaerican Idol here) and is expected to be bigger than NCIS which has a harder slot here on Tuesdays

Also BBT airs after 2 and a Half Men and does well out of it and many TV followers here were wondering if CBS would follow Channel Nines lead with these 2 shows and they did.

i’m a huge NCIS fan, total viewers was not a surprise, but the demo spike is a little surprising.
Are people a little tired of reality?
It was against Dancing, Biggest Loser and Hell’s.

The NCIS promo’s i saw were very generic, nothing about last season’s cliff hanger.

But I have a feeling Numb3rs might be at a point like “Without a Trace” where it may become too expensive to continue producing, even though it’s a hit, for a show that usually finishes 25th to 40th in ratings. CBS might to looking to replace it with a fresher show with lower fees.

RW – CBS will never flip flop, Numb3rs with the Good Wife. Numb3rs is one of the few series that has stayed in the same slot its been in since it premiered (CSI Miami, CSI NY, NCIS, Criminal Minds, Ghost Whisperer) CBS has found a good combo with Ghost WHisperer, Medium and Numb3rs and they wouldnt mess with that. My best guess is that CBS will order 18 episodes of The Good Wife, and let the episodes run out, and then replace the series with either Miami Trauma or The Bridge (which ever one, Three Rivers isn’t replaced with). Good Wife is good enough to last a full season but probably not to be renewed.

Heather Locklear comes back to MP in November (Doubt she’ll save it.) and I think the CW will wait to see how she does for ratings till they renew. If the show gets anywhere in the 2 millions with her on it, it’ll be renewed. As long as it never dips below 1 million, I see them giving it a back 5 order or something.

My prediction: The Good Wife will fall week by week and CBS will end up moving it by January to shore up the night before Idol returns. CBS will replace it with a action show more geared to male demos, possibly flip-flopping The Good Wife with Numb3rs on Fridays. After all, I think the Good Wife would be a better fit with Ghost Whisperer and Medium than the NCIS duo.

Holy Shit! Look at The Biggest Loser’s ratings! Can we confirm this is a series low??? Wow.

I cant see CBS being ecstatic with those Good Wife numbers, considering it was a premiere and the critical acclaim it has received (I know critical praise doesn’t always translate to ratings), CBS should and would have a larger initial sampling. It was only up a smidgen on it’s predecessor and numbers are bound to head south for future episodes.

Poor numbers for the forgotten but I really enjoyed it, I tuned in for Slater as I thought he was fantastic on Enemy. I don’t normally watch crime procedurals and I’ll probably won’t continue the series but I thought there was enough curve balls to keep viewers on the edge of their seat. Yes you can drive a truck through the plot holes – Jessica killing Tracey/Vivian for lying to her was ludcrious but it was enjoyable.

I’m glad The Good Wife did well. It was actually a very good show. I was going to give it ONE episode and if it wasn’t awesome I’d give up (it really isn’t the kind of show I’m usually attracted to), but it was. I’ll keep tuning in. And I think that it will retain the vast majority of its viewers for the weeks to come.

NCIS: LA was hardly a buzz free show. It debuted as a backdoor pilot on NCIS in May and CBS has been plugging it alot, especially the Saturday Night Fever spot with Abby from NCIS.

Out here in LA, lots and lots of billboards for The Good Wife, NCIS: LA and Three Rivers, even though most people are predicting it’s doom.

Granted, Don J, EVIDENCE was a mess from the beginning. I’m just saying, I don’t think it will matter that JB produces FORGOTTEN – it’s gonna be based on the numbers. And the fact that it’s produced by Warner Bros. and not ABCS (like EVIDENCE was).

I actually liked it more than I thought I would. Wasn’t anywhere near as bad as some of the reviews I read.

With NCIS’ fantastic ratings, in theory they should give it the post Superbowl slot but I think it is more likely to The Big Bang Theory, The Mentalist or How I Met Your Mother.

I wouldn’t be surprised if another NCIS happens in a few years.

Biggest Loser should be back next week with ratings closer to last week’s. Those who have been following Hell’s Kitchen probably dvr’d BL. to watch HK.’s finale. You hate to watch a finale recorded, as you may hear the results before you get a chance to watch the show. Next week they’ll be back live. HK. wasn’t on last week, and next week the same audience won’t be tuning into ‘SYTYCD’. They’ll be back with BL live.

the forgotten has a much more simpler crime procedural premise that should make it much easier to follow than Slater’s My Own Worst Enemy, which already had a far-fetched premise and was serialized.

I think the comparisons between “Eleventh Hour” and “The Good Wife” are apt but, as has been stated, the one big advantage “The Good Wife” has is that it’s a CBS production and not a WB show.

“Eleventh Hour” numbers were good but, since it wasn’t a show that CBS owned, good wasn’t good enough. For “The Good Wife”, “Eleventh Hour” numbers may keep it on the air.

Well, I think having Christian Slater as the lead is a bigger advantage than having Orlando Jones & Rob Estes. And if I recall correctly, before it even premiered (midseason) ABC cut that episode order from 13 to 8.
