I love Fringe…They are making alot of people pick between several good shows on Thursday Nights….Anyway I’m watching Fringe….The BEST of The BEST.

Note that Simcoe is the name of a character in the book, and “Benford” is the name of a famous SF author (Greg Benford).

As for why she sleeps with this guy, please note that the Flash Forward (“FF”) did not show her actually sleeping with him, just seeming real familiar, while her husband at the same time is about to be attacked in his office.

She may not ever have actually slept with him in the future. So, given that she in the future is surely aware of what she knew 6 months earlier, why is she there? And for the FBI agent, 6 months earlier he knew he was about to be ambushed by far superior firepower, why didn’t he prepare better? Here are my suggested answers:

What is seen, must be. All else is speculation. Wifey does not sleep with kid’s father. However, they are not allowed to vary from the pattern of what was to be, and will be. So, she proceeds like she did. When the time period for the FF is over, she wishes the kid’s father a good night (though it seems he’s been preparing for a good time). As for the FBI agent, he does not have superior firepower shooting these attackers during the vision because that never happened. However, AFTER the 2m 17sec, out of nowhere come some really overwhelming firepower that snuffs out these laser rifle toting nuts, that he has prepared. And the attackers did not see it coming and prepare themselves because it was out of their own FF.

Good start for the show indeed. It will be interesting how the numbers will be after the next few weeks. But beating Survivor is a good sign.

I guest it show what descent promotion does for a show because FF was a terrible pilot and certainly not worth half the hype its getting. Worst one I scene in a long time. Shame Defying Gravity did not get the same.
Shame about Fringe but I guest a few people got turn off by the fact that it did not open with a few answers an pretty much ignore last season ending, for now anyway, so it not surprising its numbers are.

Shame stupid survivors still get the numbers it does not deserve.
Guest I have to wait until next week to see a descent pilot, Stargate Universe.

FlashForward was great! I am so glad that it did well. The cast was amazing & the special effects were something else!

I thought Community was okay. However, I am still pulling for that show.

Bill, those are both just for the second hour (Grey’s quarter hours put it at 6.6 for the hour). House had 6.6 average in the overnights and 6.7 in the finals. This is going to be close.

Liban, House had a 6.9 demo rating in the overnight, Grey’s a 6.7. It’s possible that closes in the final ratings.

Timmy, from what I understand the FlashForward in the book was 20 years in the future so I’m sure they can easily pull off more seasons and make it believable to the shows mythology. They aren’t following the book too closely either so they have material to work with. The first season should be fun and should they get there, the finale should be great. This also might be one of those shows that, if they hold up for more seasons, they could have an end date much the same way Lost does and Heroes should.

FlashForward was solid. I just hope they dont make another Lost. I don’t want to see a million twists that make ZERO sense. Stick to a theme stay with it.
on a positive note, anyway you look at it the first season will be great. the problem will be the following seasons. Many shows try to get to cute. They spin out of control and end up being a massive smelly pile of crap.

I can’t imagine Fox is happy when Bones is getting close to half the audience at 8pm that the Mentalists gets at 10pm. The demo numbers could even the odds a little (Fox usually does well there while CBS not so much) but it still seems a little embarrasing.

(rick – Bones got a 6.3/11 last week compared to it’s 5.6/9 this week)

Of course Fox expected a dip with Fringe and I’m sure they don’t expect to beat GA and CSI.

I checked out FlashForward…it showed the scene where the kid was being operated and showed what I did not want to see which made me have that feeling in my stomache, hot and also sweat…was I ever sweating, I just turned the tv off after the first 30 mins. Looks like there will be disturbing scenes in the show…I know the show looks interesting to watch so I think I’ll pass.

I agree Steve. I have to think Fox isn’t expecting too much since they put it in a slot that competes with the same audience as other shows. I honestly wish they would’ve given this another year with House as a lead-in. Both fit well together in terms of audience and demos and it would’ve been a LOT easier on my DVR, haha. Plus the competition isn’t as fierce.

At this point I’m REALLY afraid this might happen. I love “Fringe” very much, it’s one of my favorite shows…..but things are definitely not looking good.

Happy for Flash forward. Good to know a show like that can do well.
Watched it, maybe not as good has fringe, but still entertaining, looking to see what’s coming.

Really sucks for Fringe. Hope Fox will be forgiving, I bet they will, they still invested a full season behind AI and house.

Good to see FF lookin like done amazing as this looks like it could of beat survivor in this time slot for what seems like forever as thought premier was great.

I hope Fox are not expecting much from fringe as i really have a grudge agaisnt them for putting it in this slot and hope and pray this doesnt lead to them axing it.

I want Fringe to do well…I love Fringe! Last week’s premiere renewed my faith in the show! I hope that Fringe can muster up a 2.5-2.6 this week. I hope FOX wasn’t expecting much with the stiff competition.

FF, I haven’t watched it yet but it i heard it was flat out amazing.

Office was hilarious and Community was better than last week! I’m glad i didn’t base my opinion on the pilot

I also watched Community, decided to give it more chances. It was better than the pilot, funnier, and not as cringe-inducing. Chevy Chase’s character was better this time but still pretty unbelievable. Unless he’s clinically insane, then it works, haha.

Still, I notice with comedies, and particularly my 2 all-time favorites (Seinfeld and The Office), it wasn’t until around their 12th episode that they started picking up steam. For both of those that meant they were in Season 2 since they had short Season 1 lengthes of only 6 episodes. I’m willing to give Community that type of a shot now.

I agree with you two. Loved the pacing, questions kept coming, and I also think it’s the best pilot since Lost, maybe even *gasp* better. I’ve seen people nitpick at things that they found unrealistic but come on, the show’s premise is unrealistic. It’s SUPPOSED to be. This isn’t another boring procedural. It remains realistic enough to work and has enough weird things happening to be fresh and interesting.
