I stopped producing these charts in the spring of 2009 because of lack of interest (some on my part, some on the readers), but energetic reader MikeS wanted to produce them, and I think they look better than mine did! Anybody else wanting to produce trend charts of any of our other data, drop me an email.

Why do you post only O’Reilly vs Oberman? Because they hate each other?
I like seeing these charts they do hate each other but I guess it shows hate doesnt lead to ratings cough cough olbermann
Until OB starts to bring new material to his show, ie informational journalism, he will continue to get trounced in this time slot. All he is right now is a live version of the Media Matters/Huffington Post/Daily Kos websites, and we all know how trustworthy those nutroot sites are, right?
I don’t understand why you post this comparison. BOR is so far out in front of Olbermann it’s not even worth the effort.
Oberwoman is a very bitter man and totally proves that Liberalism is a mental disorder. What a waste of skin!!
I agree they really dont need to post this chart anymore. Its pretty pointless. Olberman is barely beating Nancy Grace at this point. Olberman is the Jimmy Carter of cable news. A total failure in every way who thinks the words coming out of his mouth are the most important words ever spoken. When in reality no one is listening.
Olbermann has been taking a lot of time off this year. Once because of his mother’s death. And I think his father may be ill. And of course vacation. And when there’s a guest host. The numbers go down dramatically. And if Liberalism is mental disorder. Then put me in a straight-jacket.
Abe, BOR is off almost every friday. I noticed he was on lastnight not sure if it was original material or not though, missed the 8pm show, and fell asleep during the 11pm show. However he seemed to take most of the summer off too. Even the week long periods he was off, his ratings didn’t drop that much. His replacement Laura Ingrham leans alittle further right than BOR does on air I think, but his show is basically the same, plenty of guests with opposing views, and reporting the stories without spin. I feel like those two reasons are why his show is such a huge success.
Olbermann is sure a hateful person. The only thing he talks about on his show is his hate for FOX news and everyone who listens to FOX news. He must be miserable man. Too bad.

I think the ratings for Olberman are so poor because the camera is too close to that BLOCK sitting on his neck! If you think This pinko is bad, just check out the trainwreck that follows him!
i’ve been waiting for this chart for months! look at how much bor retained of his election-cycle audience. very impressive. what i did not expect was his increase in the demo. after returning to pre-election levels they have steadily gained and are back at election levels. wow.
Bill takes off every Friday from mid-June to late August or early September. He typically takes weeks off for vacation around July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas/New Year’s Day. Otherwise, he’s on every weeknight with rare days off.
As for Keith, I think he’s taken Fridays off during the NFL season since he works on “Football Night in America”/SNF Halftime.
o,reily ratings and becks for that matter are high because olberman gives them free publicity on his show. the more i hear olberman the less i like him. he then talks about the other two, thriving me, as a viwer to give o,reiley a shot. Guess what, thanks olberman, u just helped beck/orieley get another veiwer, and drop u faster than your ratings. thanks miss keith(im still waiting for him to put on his cheerleading outfit and do a cheer for Obama)
The chart illustrates the failure of Olberman. Keith got his new contract at the election ratings high and now he is falling below his pre election line and O’Reilly is consistently much higher than his pre election line. I don’t think it is the liberal line that Keith takes that hurts him. He is ineffective at arguing the liberal side and he is a very poor entertainer. Keith is just painful to watch.
Sheesh, slap fights between Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton were more intelligent than either of these clowns. Both should go away…very quickly.
Olberman stuggles because his show is the same very night.
Fifteen minutes on Sarah Palin, 15 minutes on Bush torture/lying, 15 minutes on Dick Cheney and 15 minutes on who is the worst in the world, Bill O’Reilly, Glen Beck, or Rush Limbaugh. For christ sake I can not see a show for 2 weeks and he is still hashing the same stuff. It’s time to move on. We are pushing a year with a new administration
Fox needs to give Sarah her own show.
Megyn Kelly and Dennis Miller should have their own prime-time Fox News shows. Get rid of Hannity and Greta in prime time. They are boring and Hannity is a one-note host with zero personality. He attracts the right wing nutjobs and they’ll watch him at midnight. Fox is loaded with potential prime-timers, Glenn Beck being the most obvious. Fox News could run a 6-hour wheel from 5-11 p.m. with quality hosts building audience the entire night without rerunning any shows. Fox has a embarrassment of riches.
i agree that olbermans contstant and relentless trash talk only increaces becks and bills ratings…
he needs to re-think what he is doing as he has become unwatchable…
what a miserable man he must be…
