I agree that if Lets Make A Deal works it could be doomsday for ATWT. Perhaps the show could be moved to an earlier timeslot.

That’s the first I’ve heard of Y&R going to 3pm….Central or Eastern? Most likely CBS affilliates are wanting to stop a growing Days fan base, and fill the lunch hour with their local news/magazine style shows to save programming budgets. Those shows won’t work at 2 or 3 pm.
I totally think many Y&R viewers will forgo the show if it’s not on at the lunch hour. Most are viewing only because of the time slot that fits into work and class schedules. ABC will benefit, as those viewers will just jump to AMC, unless B&B is being given the old Y&R slot. Either way, Y&R’s heyday as sole daytime ratings king is probably over between this switch and the removal of Eric Braeden and Melody Thomas Scott.

CBS will most likely take a “wait and see” approach before deciding to cancel/renew ATWT. If ratings for Let’s Make a Deal are lower than expected, then ATWT might stick around for a few more years. If LMAD ratings are strong, CBS might consider canceling ATWT and replacing it with another classic game show.

Ok i think the soaps need to go, the nets and the affialates are in enoguh trouble as it is. Give the time to affiliates so they can remain finnancially viable.

Ok Red. Y&R airs several times during the day in my country- but i read somewhere that it was moving to 3pm in the USA. I know CBS Atlanta is moving it, not sure about NY. I’m just wondering if it’s ratings would be affected because of the move, in the few markets.

It seems that OLTL was popular on Monday but went down as the week went on.

Y&R is not moving to 3 – only in a few markets (maybe yours is one of them but not the majority). Most CBS affiliates are airing the new Let’s Make A Deal in GL’s place starting in October.

DOOL will keep gaining. It has got the momentum now, all the ABC’s shows are floundering. They might get a bump here and there but DOOL has shown consistency for a year now in overall growth.

ATWT is a lost cause now.

Can’t believe Y&R still has over 5mil.

Will Y&r Hit new lows as it moved to 3pm? the entire CBS line-up could suffer. GH could suffer from having Y&R as it competition! I thought GL would get like 4mil- anyway it went out above last place and it looks like ATWT will take over and later, canned. Too much “Kish” s/l’s all over… two soaps are gone in 2 years with kish-like stories; they need to stop them!

Great to see Days hit the 3+ million mark on Tuesday, and again, almost on Thursday. Their gains seem to be with the male viewing audience and 18-39 yr.olds. Pretty good demos for the show against lunch hour favorite Y&R., perenially a favorite with men, most likely due to the male led story lines and noon time scheduling. Days has found a happy medium of male led stories without alienating the female audience. Their teen stories have a more mature lean to them, with most scenes also involving adult characters. These young actors aren’t being stereotyped. Good going Days, ( and , of course, to Alison Sweeney who plays Samantha. Her new Biggest Loser season has started off great and, no doubt, has brought in viewers to the daytime show.

ATWT is constantly being beat in the ratings and now OLTL is getting more 2.0 days because they are willing to write s/l’s and take chances and they have better writers and producers than ATWT.Marty was a great s/l and now Oliver/Kyle/Nick is going to have even more drama.Kudos to them for their s/l’s with the young kids on the show and Marty’s s/l and now the Kish s/l.

WOW! GL did well this week. Nice to see that fans of the show and soaps watched as the light ended its run. Third most watched soap on Friday!! Wednesday’s epsiode was superb (the best of the week I think) – Grant (Philip) should be nominated for an Emmy for his heart-touching and poignant scene with his father on the bench (loved it the next day as he and Alan sat on the bench overlooking the water). Pure magic. In the end, character and family was written as it should have been; using the show’s history and allowing for character-driven plot. Although Ellen Wheeler may be on a lot of people’s s—list, she did stick to the history (remember, just a couple of years ago GL won the Emmy for Best Show!!) – so kudos to her and the writers for doing things better at the end given the limitations of the production model. GL…we will forever shine and never dim.

ay yi yi, atwt! I HATE to say this, but it looks like they will now stay at the bottom like guiding light did until they are cancelled next year. Its so sad to see a soap with SOOOO much potential go down the drain with GL. LETS PRAY they can get their act together IN TIME. As The World Turns is now Telenext’s Sole surviving soap.
