SNL gets progressively worse every week. I’m not sure who is writing this stuff but they may need to consider starting with an entirely new cast and writers. It is odd that anyone even laughs in the audience… It must be canned laughter. Horrible. Can they just hang it up? Who writes this crap?

I agree. The writers gave her NOTHING to work with. The only thing that had a glimpse of potential for her was the stewardess sketch.

The writers should have looked back when Jennifer Aniston hosted (back when Fight Club had just come out) to get inspiration on how to use a stunningly gorgeous actress in some funny roles.

Megan Fox was a fantastic choice to host the season premiere.
She’s the hottest thing on the planet. She may have lost a little buzz from Jennifer’s Body (which was good & she was good in it), but she’ll bounce back w/ Jonah Hex. She’s very talented & multi-dimensional, but the writers underutilized her. She could have done a lot more. The promos she did for the show were a better showcase for her talents.

I purposely didn’t watch because Megan Fox was hosting. She is overrated. So this episode was worse than when Rainn Wilson hosted – that episode was awful. Someone wrote that they watch for Wiig – she annoys me, I find nothing funny about any of her characters. Keenan has potential, sometimes he is funny other times he’s the token character (I am not the only one thinking that, right?)

SNL is definitely struggling with both comedy and talent. Remember the days where if you were a star on SNL you would go on to be a big comedy star? These days I can’t really see anyone from the cast becoming anything big. Maybe Kristen Wigg, but I think she’ll probably just be a supporting character in most movies, she can’t really carry an entire movie herself.
And Kyle S., really? ‘Talented acctress’. You were joking, right? ‘Talented’ and ‘Megan Fox’ should not be used in the same statement. Yeah, she’s hot, but that can only carry you so far. I think it was proof with Jennifer’s Body tanking that she’s not going to be a big movie star. I don’t think she’s gonna go off the deep end like Lohan, so she might be able to get supporting roles in romance movies, but only so the guys can have something to look at for the duration of the movie.

Danny-

MadTv and SNL were never really competition. Their demographics were quite different, so I didn’t expect the small viewership to jump to SNL. SNL goes for A18-34, while MadTv was A12-19.

Oh, and I’m not bashing MadTv. I worked for FOX, and MadTv never brought in a decent sized audience. It was just inexpensive enough for FOX to keep that real estate (time period).

Everyone needs to stop talking bad about Megan Fox! She is a very talented actress and the sexiest woman alive today. The guy who said she looks like a washed up hooker or whatever you must be freaking blind! I do agree though that it was not her fault that the show stunk it up bad. I totally blame the writers who prepared her material. I did however enjoy the first Digital Short…the ending was hilarious.

Someone put this garbage show out of its misery. It is painfully unfunny and should have been canceled years ago. Another thing to note is that MadTV isn’t around and there still isn’t any type of bump, I see a freefall in ratings this year as even loyal audience viewers can no longer take the weeks of constant pounding of SNL’s unfunniness.

Way to come off like a doosh (and yes, I MEANT to spell it that way). I’m assuming you are just a troll coming on here to piss people off. I lvoe the show, find it very funny; but if you want higher educated jokes, go to The Daily Show.

A few years ago they had a skit where Amy Poehler was the lead in a sketch about “butt pregnancy”. That was the whole basis of the skit. But you are right, only college-level brains would get the joke that “butt pregnancy” was abstract, absurdist humor that was really trying to touch on our misguided attempts of combatting the attack on 9/11 in Iraq. Good thing I graduated from college so I could understand that. Hilarious.

While watching this show I kept thinking that the writers had plenty of time to prepare and this was the best that they could come up with. Megan Fox was announced as the host some time ago. It’s not like they didn’t have plenty of time to prepare something better than the finished product.

Your memory is awful. The last 2 years Sandler and Farley were on SNL, they almost got it cancelled because they were so unfunny. Ratings were WAY lower when they were cast members. You are very, VERY much in the monority with that “opinion”.

The premiere was a big disappointment. It’s strange, but the show is so hit-or-miss. Highlights (hosting wise) of last season include Neil Patrick Harris and Justin Timberlake. Like funny, funny stuff. This episode really didn’t make me laugh. At all.

Kristen Wiig is the only reason to watch SNL. She is the major comedic blood of the show. Fred Armisen’s opening skit making fun of Kadahfi was great. That man (Khadhfi) is a nutcase and Armisen did a really great job spoofing the almost 96-minute address in about 4 minutes. SNL is defintely going to hurt this year without a Presidential election, but have faith, they usually give us a handful of funny shows a season. But I do not have faith in the new cast members and letting Michaela Watkins go was a big mistake.

The show wasn’t a total disaster. Kristen Wiig is what’s holding it all together right now. I wish they had male castmember that was great who could play off Wiig. Jason Sadakus doesn’t get enough material, he could be good if the writers gave him good stuff. If the writing doesn’t get better i don’t see the show lasting another season. Lorne will never pull the plug on his money train.

It had a few funny bits, the cuss was good but it was like the audience didn’t even notice. Why wasn’t it beeped out? As much as everyone goes on about Tina Fey, who I do think was a major loss for the show, I think Amy Poeler was the bigger loss. I’m gald the Palin jokes are out by now though. Making fun of her is one thing but at the same time it does give her publicity and that ain’t good. Lets just pretend she didn’t exist.

I watched and was greatly disappointed with the entire show. They just had nothing. Why was Megan Fox the host? Why is she doing anything at all, she looks like a cross between druggie Amy Winehouse and train wreck Linsey Lohan. Is there a rule all young, female stars must look like washed up hookers?

They have some decent cast regulars on the show; Kristen Wigg is a natural but they aren’t giving her anything at all to work with. Will she leave the show, j/k, will she start a movie career, j/k, will SNL tank this year, j/k, will it get canceled, j/k, will I watch it again this season, j/k….

My mouth was open for a couple minutes after the newbie dropped the f-bomb. That must have been a skit she brought to the show with her, where the original material did the f-bombs instead of “frickin”. Regardless of that slip, that skit was a one-dimensional, one-trick pony that didn’t deserve to be a skit. Whoever thought that was funny?

Megan I thought did fine even though they gave her NOTHING to work with except for multiple skits where she was just cast as the “hot” one.

HORRIBLE Digital Shorts (the first was funny until the crap-out conclusion).

U2 (or more specifically Bono) need to realize the show isn’t about them. 3 SONGS? Really? And, Bono, stop moving around like your gestures are awe-inspiring and captivating. Despite your mad success, you’re not – and have never been – “cool”.

Even though they are apparently not firing the new girl for her slip (man, was she lucky to have slipped up past the time where FCC could have fined them!!), I don’t see her getting past the “Featured” status. Some cast members can take a single joke and stretch it for a whole skit; she does not have that ability.

I agree with whoever said they just used Megan Fox as a body. They could have gotten edgy or funny with her instead they just threw wigs on her and had her stand there. How lame. I mean do something with the silly girl besides dress her up funny. The writing this season was just sad. I hope Lorne feels it was still a good idea to get rid of that one cast member that he did for being “too” funny. Smart move idiot. Heaven forbid we have people that are too funny on a comedy show.

A perfect choice for the premiere of the 35th anniversary would of been either Chevy Chase, or Alec Baldwin. Both have shows with the network, and both have a storied past with SNL.

And what’s with having 2 Digital Shorts, but no songs by Andy Samburg and the boys.
