Home to cable’s Top 2 scripted telecasts in 3Q09 in Total Viewers and TV’s Top 2 telecasts in target kids with original movie “Wizards of Waverly Place The Movie” and cross-over event “Wizards On Deck with Hannah Montana,” Disney Channel ranked as TV’s No. 1 network in Total Day for the 2nd-consecutive quarter in Tweens 9-14 (632,000/2.6 rating), and delivered the No. 1 position in Kids 6-11 (739,000/3.0 rating). In fact, in Tweens 9-14, Disney Channel was TV’s No. 1 network 12 times during 3Q09’s 13 week period.
Growing its audience for the 3rd straight quarter and posting double-digit percent increases across all demos, 3Q09 wrapped as Disney Channel’s 2nd-most-watched quarter on record in Total Day in Total Viewers (19% - 1.9 million vs. 1.6 million), Kids 6-11 (17% - 739,000 vs. 631,000) and Tweens 9-14 (19% - 632,000 vs. 530,000), behind only 3Q07. Impressively, in Total Viewers Disney Channel was cable’s growth leader among kid-targeting networks.
In Prime, 3Q09 also qualified as Disney Channel’s second-most-watched quarter ever in Total Viewers (2.9 million), Kids 6-11 (1.2 million/5.0 rating) and Tweens 9-14 (1.0 million/4.1 rating), behind 3Q07. In key kids, Disney Channel’s reign as basic cable’s No. 1 network in Prime extended to 18 consecutive quarters in Kids 6-11 and to 41 quarters in Tweens 9-14.
- Disney Channel ranked as cable’s No. 2 network in 3Q09 in Total Viewers in Prime (2.9 million) and Total Day (1.9 million).
- In Total Viewers, “Wizards of Waverly Place The Movie” (13.50 million) and “Wizards On Deck with Hannah Montana” (10.64 million) ranked as cable’s Top 2 scripted telecasts in 3Q09.
- “Wizards of Waverly Place The Movie” (8/28/09) and “Wizards On Deck with Hannah Montana” (7/17/09) were TV’s Top 2 TV telecasts in Kids 6-11 (5.32 million/21.8 rating and 4.28 million/17.5 rating, respectively) and Tweens 9-14 (4.64 million/19.0 rating and 4.19 million/17.2 rating, respectively).
- In addition, Disney Channel held 15 of TV’s Top 20 telecasts in 3Q09 in Kids 6-11, and 16 of the Top 20 in Tweens 9-14.
