Home to cable’s Top 2 scripted telecasts in 3Q09 in Total Viewers and TV’s Top 2 telecasts in target kids with original movie “Wizards of Waverly Place The Movie” and cross-over event “Wizards On Deck with Hannah Montana,” Disney Channel ranked as TV’s No. 1 network in Total Day for the 2nd-consecutive quarter in Tweens 9-14 (632,000/2.6 rating), and delivered the No. 1 position in Kids 6-11 (739,000/3.0 rating).  In fact, in Tweens 9-14, Disney Channel was TV’s No. 1 network 12 times during 3Q09’s 13 week period.

Growing its audience for the 3rd straight quarter and posting double-digit percent increases across all demos, 3Q09 wrapped as Disney Channel’s 2nd-most-watched quarter on record in Total Day in Total Viewers (19% - 1.9 million vs. 1.6 million), Kids 6-11 (17% - 739,000 vs. 631,000) and Tweens 9-14 (19% - 632,000 vs. 530,000), behind only 3Q07.  Impressively, in Total Viewers Disney Channel was cable’s growth leader among kid-targeting networks.

In Prime, 3Q09 also qualified as Disney Channel’s second-most-watched quarter ever in Total Viewers (2.9 million), Kids 6-11 (1.2 million/5.0 rating) and Tweens 9-14 (1.0 million/4.1 rating), behind 3Q07.  In key kids, Disney Channel’s reign as basic cable’s No. 1 network in Prime extended to 18 consecutive quarters in Kids 6-11 and to 41 quarters in Tweens 9-14.

  • Disney Channel ranked as cable’s No. 2 network in 3Q09 in Total Viewers in Prime (2.9 million) and Total Day (1.9 million).
  • In Total Viewers,Wizards of Waverly Place The Movie” (13.50 million) and “Wizards On Deck with Hannah Montana(10.64 million) ranked as cable’s Top 2 scripted telecasts in 3Q09.

  • Wizards of Waverly Place The Movie” (8/28/09) and Wizards On Deck with Hannah Montana (7/17/09) were TV’s Top 2 TV telecasts in Kids 6-11 (5.32 million/21.8 rating and 4.28 million/17.5 rating, respectively) and Tweens 9-14 (4.64 million/19.0 rating and 4.19 million/17.2 rating, respectively). 
  • In addition, Disney Channel held 15 of TV’s Top 20 telecasts in 3Q09 in Kids 6-11, and 16 of the Top 20 in Tweens 9-14.
  • Wizards of Waverly Place(Fridays, 8:00 p.m.) was TV’s No. 1 series in 3Q09 in Kids 6-11 (1.82 million/7.5 rating) and Tweens 9-14 (1.72 million/7.0 rating)
  • Phineas and Ferb(Fridays, 9:00 p.m.) qualified as TV’s No. 1 animated series in 3Q09 in Kids 6-11 (1.62 million/6.6 rating) and Tweens 9-14 (1.28 million/5.2 rating)
  • In Kids 6-11, Disney Channel was home to 3Q09’s Top 2 TV programs, and 7 of the Top 8 overall:Wizards of Waverly Place” (No. 1 – 1.82 million/7.5 rating), “The Suite Life on Deck(No. 2 - 1.80 million/7.4 rating), “Phineas and Ferb” (No. 4 - 1.62 million/6.6 rating, Fridays, 9:00 p.m.), “Hannah Montana (No. 5T – 1.52 million/6.2 rating), “Sonny with a Chance (No. 5T – 1.52 million/6.2 rating), “JONAS” (No. 7 – 1.44 million/5.9 rating) and “Phineas and Ferb” (No. 8 – 1.40 million/5.7 rating, Fridays, 9:30 p.m.).
  • In Tweens 9-14, Disney Channel was home to 3Q09’s Top 2 TV series, and 6 of the Top 7 overall:Wizards of Waverly Place” (No. 1 – 1.72 million/7.0 rating), “The Suite Life on Deck(No. 2 - 1.60 million/6.6 rating), “Hannah Montana (No. 4 – 1.44 million/5.9 rating), “Sonny with a Chance (No. 5 – 1.41 million/5.8 rating), “Phineas and Ferb” (No. 6T - 1.28 million/5.2 rating, Fridays, 9:00 p.m.), “JONAS” (No. 6T – 1.28 million/5.2 rating).

  • Playhouse Disney’s “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse” ranked No. 3 among all TV series in 3Q09 in target Kids 2-5 demo (627,000/3.8 rating) with “Handy Manny” (No. 7 - 541,000/3.3 rating), “Imagination Movers” (No. 8 – 521,000/3.2 rating) and “Special Agent Oso” (No. 10 – 477,000/2.9 rating) placing among the Top 10 shows.

    Hannah Montana, Wizards of Waverly Place and Sonny With a Chance are the best series.
