Update: there are delays with the fast national data (where we get viewers and 18-49 demo). I'll post the numbers as soon as I see them.
Based on the very preliminary early metered market NBC's Trauma debuted in a distant fourth place with a 4.3/7 (household rating/share). By comparison last night, Dancing with the Stars won the 9pm hour with an 11.0/16, followed by Two and a Half Men ( 8.3/12)/and The Big Bang Theory (7.4/11) and the season premiere of Lie To Me (4.9/7).
Heroes edged closer to having a fork stuck in it at 8pm with a 3.3/5. On a household rating basis that was down from Chuck's performance (4.4/7) in the slot one year ago by around 25%.
The Jay Leno Show had a 3.9/6 at 10pm down more than 10% from its early metered market rating of a 4.4/7 last Monday.
Viewer averages and demo numbers for all shows will be posted in the regular overnight report as soon as I see them...

I loved Heroes throughout the first two seasons, but about half-way through volume 4 I started to care a lot less. This should be the final season, and I’m okay with that.
Lie to Me was really good. God help me, I love Castle.
Heroes – its like a train wreck — I can’t look away. Zachary Quinto remains the high light.
I FINALLY abandoned Heroes last night. I had somehow watched every episode of the first three seasons and bought the first two seasons on DVD. I decided not to do that for Season 3 because it was so terrible. I did decide to give the show one last chance by watching the premiere and I had finally had enough. Last night was the first episode of the show that I chose not to watch while it was airing.
Yep it’s official, Heroes should end after this season, the series sint helping Trauma but hopefully NBC will look past that.
“Done” was supposed to be “DOWN”. Freudian slip? Either way, I changed it
yeah rob I thought you meant down.
what’s with OTH on CW yesterday?
yep i think im done with heroes too… im at my limit with the crap they are trying to shovel on us.
Toby, waiting for the fast nationals. It’s not worth it (to us) to report all the metered market data since it’s highly subject to change and we will wind up posting viewer numbers and demos (including OTH) from the fast nationals soon enough. But since Trauma and Lie to Me were series/season premieres, I thought I’d get something up on the site quickly. Check back for the regular overnight ratings report which will hopefully be available in the next hour or so.
EDIT: actually I just heard the Nielsen fast national overnight numbers were delayed. Stay tuned…
Robert- when does the renew / cancel index start? also any chance the renew/cancel index for the CW could be based on women 18-34 since that is really what matters
Not easy to compete when there’s these other big shows not only on the competing networks, but also Monday Night Football on ESPN with the Dallas Cowboys and their big screen TV.
Zachary Quinto only seems like the highlight because he’s one of the current media golden boys. Neither his acting nor the material they write for him has been any good since season 2. I was afraid his hype would somehow save Heroes’s ratings (as NBC was obviously hoping), because that show is so FAR beyond saving even if the rating went up, but I’m glad to see not even Spock fangirls can save it. Please just end it, it hurts to watch.
Tar,it starts late today (assuming no data delays with weekly info). Unfortunately we can’t do the CW based on women 18-34 because we don’t get that information regularly in terms of final numbers.
Robert, I actually thought you meant “done” because that would make sense too.
Trauma is done! What an awful show. It is off my list, for sure.
I guess the big question at this point is, “Is NBC crazy as Fox, and willing to keep Heroes on the air due to the millions of fans that don’t watch it live?” Because that? That should be enough to kill any show with a budget that high.
Full ratings delayed?
Any conspiracy theory out there why it is delayed? haha
No doubt about it this will be “Heroes” final season, the ? is will they even make it to January if this keeps up? It’s pretty bad when Jay Leno does better than “Heroes.”
Since so many of the NBC shows are performing so poorly; where will they draw the line with respect to what shows they pull the plug on? When will they make that call, and what do they have on the back burner for a replacement?
NBC….out of business by 2020!
