Update: at least in viewers, NCIS hit a new record 20.649 million viewers. Its 4.6/13 18-49 rating is the same as last week's fast national number (which went up to a 4.8 in the finals).
The juggernaut that is NCIS might be poised for an even bigger night than its premiere when it had over 20 million viewers and a 4.8 rating with adults 18-49 in the final numbers. In the early metered market numbers, last night's episode averaged a 12.6/20 household rating/share. That's bigger than the early metered market numbers for the premiere last week when it had an 11.8/19 household rating/share.
NCIS: Los Angles had an 11.2/18 household rating/share last night in the early metered market numbers, but that's down from last week's 11.5/18. But because of the very preliminary nature of these numbers, that doesn't necessarily mean it will be down in viewers or the demo. Either way it's still a very robust number. The Good Wife seemed to be holding up well with a 9.8/17 household rating/share. Last week in the same very preliminary numbers it had a 10.2/17
ABC's The Forgotten had a 5.0/8 household rating/share, down significantly from last week's 6.2/11 in the same preliminary numbers.
Note: why am I not posting the information for all shows? Because the early metered market numbers, though often a useful indicator is pretty useless for the purposes of predicting how well shows did in the demo. Since we post average viewer numbers and demos in our normal overnight posts, getting into the details of each and every show's early metered market numbers isn't that worthwhile. We'll hopefully see the full results within an hour or so and have the full night's details up as soon as possible. If you want to see full preliminary results, you can see them via Marc Berman.

i hope The Good Wife continues to hold well J.M. is a lock for an emmy nomination if it isnt canned too quick
Yeah, give an Emmy to another program that no one watches. What great programs 30 Rock etc are, too bad no one finds them actually funny. People watching those shows do so because of media hype. Great for NCIS and NCIS:LA.
ncis should be cancelled, crap show
Well I’m pleased to see this show become a huge hit. Television always wants to have a cool show but what is cool one year can be cold the following year. Much better to be consistently popular. You don’t see E! News talk about these types of shows and yet millions watch. I’m a great believer in going for the largest number of viewers possible. It’s called BROADcasting not NARROWcasting.
WOW to NCIS cant wait to see the final numbers and seems like NCIS LA has held up well.
I’m very excited for the ratings of NCIS, I hope it could cross the 20 million viewers mark again. I just want a scripted show reach that level again even since Grey’s Anatomy and CSI could not pull those number anymore.
I hope The Good Wife will keep the momentum, I think that show could work since its a lawyer show and its somehow compatible with procedurals so hopefully, this is the new Judging Amy for CBS
Cameron, it’s a business, companies will always go for what makes them the most money. If targeting specific demos brings in more ad dollars than getting the most viewers, of course executives will choose that path.
Autumn weather has started to set in across the Midwest, and I wonder if this will be the source of a few increases over premier week.
greennogo, perhaps, but we lack the ability to track something that diffuse. What does seem to effect early ratings (certainly 6:30 evening news ratings) is the start/end of Daylight Savings Time. When DST ends, the evening news shows all get a noticeable uptick, and vice versa when it starts.
Not surprised The Forgotten took such a hit. It will be interesting to see how much it dropped in the key demo though.
NCIS: LA should get a full season any day now. The Good Wife is good for more episodes as well. Besides NCIS, The Big Bang Theory and Family Guy, is their currently another series that has gradually grown in viewership since its premiere??
sorry but i love the forgotten

NCIS- 20.649 / 4.6 <— Wow!
NCIS LA – 17.42 / 4.1 <— down a bit but still good
DWTS – 12.475 / 2.6 <— Very low for DWTS!
the forgotten – 7.52 / 2.0 <— will get canceled
That’s curious, The Forgotten is kind of similar of all the (crappy) cop shows from CBS… I don’t understand why it’s not a hit
I’m sure Eastwick will be axed before Forgotten, just because of general low ratings. Both will be gone by May, however.
it would be a hit if it were on CBS ABC’s audience is different
Because its not on CBS.
While we’re waiting I guess, here’s some Canadian ratings from Monday:
House: 3.440 million (WOW!)
Lie to Me: 1.862 million
DWTS: 2.318 million
CSI Miami: 2.626 million
Two and a Half Men: 1.071 million
BBT: 991,000
Castle: 523,000
How I Met Your Mother: 761,000
Accidentally on Purpose: 560,000
Trauma: 598,000
Jay Leno Show: 397,000
I just don’t think Dancing with the stars should be the lead in for The Forgotten or Castle, maybe I am wrong but I just don’t think the audience is the same.
Wow good to see a great show hit 20 million veiwers and good to see NCIS holding up should be getting a full season order any day now with those numbers.
