FX has greenlit two more original drama series for 2010: "Terriers" and "Lights Out".

Shawn Ryan ("The Shield") is behind "Terriers," about two buddies who start a detective agency. The dramedy is from Fox 21 and stars Donal Logue. Ted Griffin ("Ocean's Eleven") created the show.

Ryan is also currently the executive  producer and creative head of FOX's Lie To Me, he signed on last season as a temporary gig, and then wound up taking on a bigger role.

Ryan was also previously involved with The Unit which CBS didn't renew after last season (though the ads for the season 5 DVD that have run on our site look really cool!)

"Lights Out" sounds a bit like "Rocky 7" -a boxing champ tries to adjust to retirement and family bonding.

FX will have a busy year. The final episodes of Nip/Tuck and Rescue Me along with new Damages and new comedies Louie and Archer.

  2. I think Rocky Balboa was #6. ;)

Terriers sounds like it may have been inspired by Psych.

So Psych is moving to FX and being renamed Terriers?

“Terriers” is supposed to be making fun of the “Starsky and Hutch style of detective shows. And “Lights Out” is about a boxer who starts to develop Alzheimers due to his line of work involving getting punched in the face.

Both sound good. But Donal Louge is a great (underrated) actor so it’ll be great to see if he can pull this off.

The fact that FX have ordered most of its pilots to series suggests that it serious about catching up with rivals especially with Nip/Tuck and Rescue Me ending and I think the fact they picked Terriers as well as Lights Out doesn’t bode well for Damages as they only have three available slots for drama and comedy on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday unless they want to expand to Sundays or Mondays.
