Sons of Anarchy on FX

We're a site mostly about ratings,  and  not at all about show quality.  But because of discussions that happen in the comments I'm very curious to know what people's favorite shows are.  If you want to play along, please list your two current favorite shows and why in the comments.

My favorites change all of the time depending on my current viewing habits and what's currently airing.  "Lost" isn't on the schedule right now, so I'm not listing it as my favorite.

If you had asked me in during mid-May to mid-April when I was catching up on six seasons of "NCIS",  by watching four episodes a day I would've said "NCIS"!

My current favorites are season two of "Sons Of Anarchy" and the current season of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" airing on HBO.

I've heard some say "Sons Of Anarchy" is like "The Sopranos," only with bikers rather than mobsters.  I agree with that, though I think it is more of a pure ensemble, where  Tony Soprano was the central figure on "The Sopranos".   Season two of SOA has been great and the hour (or ~42 minutes on the DVR) is an entertaining ride.  P.S. If you're an SOA fan you should check out this post today from its creator Kurt Sutter focusing on his recent interaction with a real life biker club.

"Curb" is only a few episodes into the season and has been in top form. It cracks me up.

  1. the amazing race and community. if you asked me this spring i would’ve said knight rider. :)

  2. Tommy

    Currently on the air favorites:

#1 Grey’s Anatomy, it’s quality has slipped but I have been a fan since day one.

#2 The Office, it’s just fun

If we are counting all shows including mid season ones, Lost is my top pick, and the final season will be bitter sweet for me. I can’t wait for the season to start, but knowing it’s the last season I won’t want it to end.

  3. Dee

    Criminal Minds
    The Good Wife
    Cold Case
    Big Bang Theory
    How I Met Your Mother
    Two and a Half Men
    CSI: NY
    The Mentalist
    The Closer.
    Medium

And favorite shows that are in repeats: The Golden Girls, Everybody Loves Raymond, Seinfeld.

In case you are wondering, I’m 24.lol

  4. VA

    1. Lost

    2. Breaking Bad

    3. Dexter

    4. True Blood

    5. Fringe

    6. Dollhouse

    7. FlashForward

Breaking Bad is brilliant, but Lost has my heart.

  5. Kyle

Hard to pick only two…. I would list Big Love, Friday Night Lights and Damages, but those aren’t currently airing… SOOO…

    Two favorites currently airing:

Brothers and Sisters– It’s great at blending quirky family gatherings with drama. And Sally Field can shed a tear like no other.

Curb Your Enthusiasm– Can’t go wrong with Curb. Larry is genius.

  6. cool

    Lost.

  7. Kyle

Oh so it looks like people don’t care about the list only two part lol

  8. Bruce

Of all programs currently airing new episodes, I’d say my two favorite shows are…

    Fringe & Castle

  9. Normally, it’s 24 and Lost. And, in a couple of weeks, Friday Night Lights will occupy the topspot until they arrive.

    Right now?

    Hmmm.

Watching last season’s Supernatural and Legend Of The Seeker, at the moment, and they are not putting a foot wrong. A+ every week.

  10. Just 2? And current shows?

I have to say 24 first since Jack Bauer owns, and as ludicrous as the plot is, it’s so compelling and the action is awesome.

The next would be a toss up between Chuck, Lost, The Mentalist, NCIS, Leverage, and Supernatural. It’s so hard to pick out of the current shows since they aren’t finished, and they’re so different that I couldn’t pick just one.

  11. unknown

    I agree @anonymous, oct 5, 2009 9:10

HEROES tops all of those crapy shows lol, except 24. HEROES and 24 are the best of the best, no doubt about it.

  12. ljo

Bones and TBBT – both shows give more than a few chuckles. However, if Lost were currently airing I’d probably have to bump one of those (not sure which one).

  13. VA

    I forgot to add why.

Lost is #1, because it has the ability to be the best thing ever on TV, if the series finale is done right.

Breaking Bad is just the best written show on TV… IMO.

I just listed the rest, because I wanted to add more and I could easily switch the ones after #3, because they’re about equal to me.

Like Dee, I’ll add my age aswell. I’m 22.

  14. AZTop

Top Chef – best reality competition show – it remains fresh (sorry The Amazing Race & Survivor)

Fringe – surprising, silly but very well acted and creepy. It often has a nice visual jolt. Rather unique.

  15. Supernatural is up there for me. Definitely currently in my top 5 :-)

  16. It’s interesting how nobody said Mad Men yet.

  17. tdot

    Mad Men
    Big Bang
    Supernatural
    House
    Family Guy
    HIMYM
    The Office
    Lost
    Bones
    Fringe

  18. VA

“I have to say 24 first since Jack Bauer owns, and as ludicrous as the plot is, it’s so compelling and the action is awesome.”

Damn! I forgot about 24, but it wouldn’t have beat Lost, Breaking Bad, or Dexter on my list anyway. I might’ve been #2 a few seasons ago, but not now.

  19. Chad

    Past: Stargate SG-1
    Present: Fringe
Guilty pleasure: Glee. But only after drinking a beer, watching football, and starting a fistfight with a biker afterwards. Because I’m a man!

    (Damn you Hulu.)

I don’t watch much more, more of a movie guy myself. It’s usually just 2-3 shows at a time. But favorite is singular, no point in a list.

  20. tdot

    oh and SVU…I’m 18
