The "Seinfeld" cast boosted HBO's  "Curb Your Enthusiasm" to its best numbers in five years, averaging 1.6 million viewers on Sunday night.

The 38 minute season six  finale of "Entourage"  averaged 2.5 million in its initial airing.  That was  up 21 percent from the season five finale.

The second episode of season four of “Dexter” averaged 1.3 million. “Californication” averaged 877,000.  Though Dexter was down from last week's record numbers, it wasn't a big drop off.

The third episode of HBO's new series "Bored to Death" averaged 1.1 million,  a series best.

  1. Cool. I just love this season of Curb so far. One of the best comedies on TV. Same for Californication. Duchovny is brilliant!

  2. Jonathan B.

I was just about to ask for these in the cable thread!

Really good numbers for all, relatively speaking. Should be interesting to see how CYE holds up. I was in a hotel Sunday so I watched it, makes me want to keep up with it now (Though since I don’t have cable, it’ll have to be through…not-too-legal means).

  3. E

ENTOURAGE is getting bad. The last 2 seasons have been really boring. It’s time to end this show.

  4. Chmarin

This season of Californication is great. Much better than the second season. This week’s episode was absolutely hilarious!

    E-

You’ll have to wait at least another season for that, since it’s already been renewed.

Seinfeld is awesome! I’m glad it caused a ratings spike for CYE.

    To E:

I actually love Entourage, but you will like to know that the next season will be its last. A buddy that I go to school with is an intern for HBO and he said Entourage may end this season if HBO can workout a way to pay everyone their contract money in this season, because all of their contracts don’t expire for a few more seasons. But HBO wants it to end with E’s wedding, and Vince winning some award.

Sorry Robert, when it comes to Showtime I always have to ask you this question: the last Sunday’s numbers of Dexter and Californication include the second airing of the night or are referring to just the first airing?

Because actually the last Sunday’s numbers of Californication (877,000) are higher than the first airing of the premiere (821,000).

  9. Tory

I still love Entourage. I enjoyed the shift of focus off everything centering around Vince this season.

Happy to hear about Curb’s numbers. I figured the beginning of the Seinfeld reunion would give it a boost. I also wonder if it will increase next week since I’m not sure everyone is aware its started but people will slowly figure it out when they hear about it from others during the week.

This a very funny picture.

  11. J

If that number is right for Californication, then it actually went up from last week. Last week it had 821,000.

  12. Jen

Bored to Death is terrible! And a big ratings falloff.

  13. J, you are correct, I fixed the post. Jen, Bored to Death was just renewed!

  14. Jon

I’m not sure why Bored to Death has been renewed as the ratings aren’t great and the reviews were okay at best. Maybe HBO think it has potential and could gain awards.

Dexter and Californication are doing great and when you consider Showtime has less subscribers than HBO, for it to be very close to HBO in ratings is nothing short of great.

    What about MAD MEN? thanks

CYE is the BEST show on TV..Cable or Network….with or without the sienfeld episodes..But i cant say it doesnt help having Jerry and his friends back..Its great…

Matt Damon on Entourage was absolutely hilarious.
Such a great show. I duno why people started to hate on it.
