Bored-To-Death-HBO

On the heels of hitting a series high in its third episode, Sunday, HBO renewed Bored to Death for a second season.   Sunday's episode garnered 1.1 million average viewers, no doubt helped by the best numbers for Curb Your Enthusiasm in five years (which was helped by the "Seinfeld" reunion).   The additional airing of Bored on Sunday added another ~400,000 to bring its two airing total to 1.5 million.

Meanwhile, the series' pilot episode has cumed 4.1 million viewers plus an extra 500,000 from its free previews on digital platforms.

I was going to cancel my HBO tomorrow, but now my plans are on hold.

  2. ViChiX

Bored to Death can bore you to death

  3. J

I wonder why they renewed this so soon? It only got like 741,000 viewers last week and that is terrible for an HBO show.

  4. Tory

This seems a bit premature. At least wait until the week after Entourage is off. If it had to go on its own without Entourage or Curb, or possibly down the line Hung, I wonder what kind of ratings it would get then.

  5. Tar

    worst show ever

  6. Why? Not only is it the worst show on HBO, it also gets the smallest ratings.

  7. Kyle

Kind of annoying considering they haven’t made a decision about renewing great shows like “In Treatment” and “No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency”

  8. Brian D

I’m surprised it put up those kind of numbers. I watched an episode and didn’t think it was that great.

  9. skylar

Horrible show. Watched the first two episodes, now I’m off HBO programming until True Blood comes back.

  10. See? That’s why I torrent and have no actual television.

No channel has everything I want. As much of a news-nut that I am, I can’t watch 24/7 of Fox News. Rarely something on HBO is worth watching. Even more rare is a fun, balanced show on Lifetime, Bravo or Oxygen for example. Just propaganda.

So running Linux I can safely get torrents and watch what I want, as often as I want. I also get an idea how popular shows are. Like last night House had 20,000 people downloading while the best I’ve seen from Big Bang Theory is around 9,000.

Life’s great, but we could use someone to sort out the “come get our password” scams and put the episodes into order to make them easier to manage.

Really, renewed. Wow, I guss that means all 3 new comedies this year got renewed. Thats pretty rare for HBO.

  12. Jen

    Awful, awful show.

  13. Dan

    Stranger things have happened.

  14. Gunde

    Funny show I like it.

Oh, and the worst show in HBO is True Blood

  15. Vic Nardozza

I don’t get this at all. The show is simply not funny. How do you produce a comedy that doesn’t make people laugh? And how does HBO justify renewing such a show with tepid ratings? HBO has gone down the pooper the last few years. The only shows worth watching are “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and “Entourage”.

  16. Pix

Awful, boring, not funny at all…

  17. Brad

The third episode is really good. Give it another chance.

  18. EJ

Terribly boring show. Even with the small lift of the great Ted Danson, I could barely get out of the pilot. Dang, HBO must be really desperate for fall programming. When’s IN TREATMENT coming back??

  19. GMJH

Excellent news. It’s not quite as good as Curb (or Showtime’s Californication) but it’s still very good high quality comedy.

  20. Riff Rafferty

I have a question. Why does every single episode of this “comedy” feature some guy running around in man-panties?

Two questions, actually. How the hell did the hilarious “The Comeback” get dumped after 13 episodes, while this gets renewed after 3?
