Sunday Night Football was the most-watched program among the advertising-centric adults 18-49 demographic for the week ending October 4, 2009. NCIS was the most-watched program overall (and NCIS: Los Angeles was the week's third most-watched program).
Among scripted shows, Grey's Anatomy edged out House to take the adults 18-49 crown, with House, The Big Bang Theory and Family Guy the next three most-watched with the the "youthful" 18-49 group.
Aside from Sunday Night Football and its pregame, NBC placed only one other show in either list. The Office, at #18 with adults 18-49.
On to the lists!

I remember not too long ago NCIS and CSI’s numbers were reversed
me too
NBC has Football and “The Office” in the top 25 shows among 18-49 and only football in the top 25 among viewers overall. Pretty sad for a once mighty network.
American Dad didn’t make the list this week, but the strenght of Fox’s Animation Domination is nevertheless surprising.
yayyy!!! Desperate Housewives back in the top 10 GET INNN
NCIS is the new CSI, it only took 6 seasons and 139 episodes!
NCIS is a really great show and deserves to be #1.
NCIS airing on USA really has helped pump it’s numbers. Those of us who have watched from the beginning wondered when everyone else would catch on to the is wonderful show. Next question, when will it ever get the awards it so surely deserves?
Again, the NFL keeps NBC on the radar. Jeff Zucker should be kissing Dick Ebersol’s backside.
Cold Case in the Top 25 of Total Viewers, good for them altough they still have so-so demo. Weird to see Survivor outside the top 20 for both demo and viewerS
Wow, NBC really is pathetic. As a GE shareholder I should be pissed, but watching this train wreck in progress is really quite fascinating.
I think CSI misses William Peterson. I have watched NCIS from the beginning, and it has evolved into a better show. So far, I am surprised to see NCIS Los Angeles at #3. Somehow, it doesn’t do it for me. Perhaps it will grow on me.
NBC has become a waste of time, for the most part.
ABC/Survivor ROCKS!
NCIS is the best show on broadcast networks. Where did Jay Leno rank in 2+????
CAN’T STAND FOOTBALL NIGHT IN AMERICA. IT’S THE WORSE SPORTS SHOW EVER, AND THAT LOSER OLBERMAN KNOW AS MUCH ABOUT FOOTBALL AS BARNEY FRANK DOES ABOUT DATING WOMEN
CBS would be doing so much better had they not, in their infinite stupidity, cancelled “The Unit”. That show was drawing 9 million viewers in a bad time slot. Amazing. Another network would do well to pick this show up.
Mad Men should be number one. It’s better than all of those shows combined. Unfortunately, it’s too smartly written for people who watch TV solely to shut off their brains for the evening.
Mad Men is cable……..
Family Guy=#2 comedy on TV. That’s huge.
Gary, I agree, The Unit would have gotten 12+ million on any other night. Seems to me that ideology triumphs over financial considerations on networks. God forbid we show the American military in a good light. Now, if the Unit went around and killed innocent Iraqis and put pink panties (torture) on terrorists heads then every network would be bidding for the show.
Just watched NCIS for the first time. I thought it was TERRIBLE! The “boss” comments were annoying and the story line was terribly written. I don’t get how it is #1. Bad show!
