Reports are that ABC has given full season pickups to Modern Family, Cougar Town and The Middle. Some will probably be surprised by The Middle getting a quick nod, but ABC seems serious about keeping the 8pm-10pm comedy block. Things don't look so good for Hank..

It won’t be Better Off Ted. That show has NOTHING in common with The Middle.

Never Mind. I just googled it. I had no idea ABC had picked up a comedy for midseason! It shows they are keeping this comedy block at these times. So it looks like Lost won’t be on wednesdays at 9 pm just like I predicted

What does it take for a bro to become a man? When an underachiever meets the girl of his dreams, he’s going to have to figure out how to man up, keep the girl, all without losing his best bro. Shawn hasn’t quite got his life all figured out. An aspiring writer and reluctant telemarketer, he’s been living with his friend Perry in the hope that it will allow him to write the great American novel. This works out well for Perry, who’s been feeling a little clingy since his ex dumped him over a year ago. But when Shawn meets Rebecca, his laid-back lifestyle is about to get a real shake-up. Rebecca is everything Shawn has been looking for. She’s beautiful, successful, and totally gets his wry sense of humor. She’s also got a few things he wasn’t looking for like an ex-husband and two kids. Normally this would be the kiss of death for a commitment-phobic, responsibility-avoiding, underachiever, but Shawn thinks he might just be ready for a woman like Rebecca, insta-family and all. However, the big question is, can he start a life with the woman of his dreams without breaking up his ‘bromance’ with Perry? A multi-camera comedy created by Family Guy’s Ricky Blitt, Singles with Baggage is both hopelessly romantic and bitingly funny. It’s hard to find a balance between being a dude and being a man, but sometimes a guy’s gotta do what a guy gotta to do… just as soon as he figures out what exactly that is.

I doubt any of those shows will get a second season though.
I was expecting full pickups anyday now for Modern Family and Cougar Town but not The Middle. Very surprised but happy! It shows ABC has faith in the show. Hank will definitely cancel.

I think Romantically Challenged may be Alyssa Milano’s comedy. Don’t think its a good pairing with The Middle, but is great with Modern Family and Cougar Town.
Happy about Modern Family and Cougar Town. Though I think Cougar Town is leveling off a bit. Shocked by The Middle. I didn’t watch last night’s yet, but it was such a Malcolm ripoff but coming up short, that I wasn’t enjoying it much.

Romantically Challenged is not even on the ABC list of shows for this season. The same happened to her mid-season show, one day it was there, and another, it was gone, and never got more than the pilot.
its not on the list because it was a late back up (After upfronts ) same with NBC and Persons Unknown

On if they’ll pick up “Romantically Challenged”: “We’re really excited about that. Ricky’s [Blitt] been someone we’ve been dying to be in business with. And Alyssa [Milano] as well, is, I just think, fabulous. We, at the eleventh hour, were able to cast Kyle [Bornheimer], who is just phenomenal. So we’ll look at that for midseason. Not sure where that would be. Obviously, going with all of our other comedies either on Wednesday or with “Scrubs” and “Better Off Ted.” So we’ll see where that transpires.”
And what has transpired is Hank is dead.
I don’t think they will move The Middle / Modern Family / Cougar Town. and I read somewhere that CT cannot air earlier because of the sex jokes.
Surprised about The Middle given it’s ratings but ABC doesn’t have a lot of options to fill it on Wed nights. I’m of the opinion that Wed should look like so:
8pm: The Middle
8:30: Modern Fam
9pm: Cougar Town
9:30: Scrubs

NBC just canceled Southland as well. Hilarious.
