October 9, 2009 (Burbank, CA) – THE Vampire Diaries surged to first place finishes in women 18-34 (tie), female teen and teens according to final live plus same day Nielsen ratings for Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009.

CW finally has something to be proud of jumping up for joy! CW don’t be stupid renew the show already for a full season!

  2. Boris

    “F-Teens”? Really?

  3. Yes, CW woos F-Teens.

  4. Jssmine

because of the gorgeous and talented Nina Dobrev

  5. I’m glad it’s holding on steady. The show is really good and I’m tired of people saying how they shouldn’t deviate from the books. Seriously!!! If the Elena in the book was on the small screen we would all turn off our tv sets trust me. In the book she’s a total snob that uses her friends for her own gain. She chases after Stefan. Actually she said that she will have him one way or another even if it kills her. The ratings would be equal to TBL if it were the book Elena. Love Paul and Nina together..great chemistry. Ian is a well played Damon and Bonnie is getting more interesting in each episode.

I agree with you on that one IJB, the Elena in the series is much better than the one in the first book. I loved this series of novels though when I read them in middle school because they were so much fun and there were so few good vampire serials out at the time. I still found that Elena grew in the books as the character developed over the course of the novels. I love Damon in the series (played by a favorite of mine from LOST) he’s dark yet he’s also more than he appears. Stefan is perfect as well, the strong silent type who has an air of mystery about him. I am going to wait and play this season out to see how the show does. I of course also love them making fun of twilight and that they hold true to the vampire world of sunlight kills not makes you sparkle :D .

  7. johnthemon

    well no surprise really.

  8. Anthony

    Nina Dobrev yummy

  9. R.G

I have a cousin who watches this. She said it’s like “Twilight”. I believe this is the reason for it’s success.

  10. T.D.C.

That’s kind of funny since it is the other way around and Twilight is like TVD

  11. tvmegafan

Never gonna be like True Blood, The Cw could never create a good quality show with great actors, Real actors, not just Air heads who wanna be rich and famous. People Who love what they do and wanna inspire peopple are real actors. I hate the cw the only show they ever had with real charm and a good everything was Veronica mars. True Blood is wayyyy better.

  12. THE VAMPIRE DIARIES IS NUMBER ONE!

Number one, eh? Good for them!

VAMPIRE Ties For First Place in Time Period in Women 18-34

Wait, it tied for number one … and that was only in its time period … among women … aged 18-34.

Oh, well, good job, I guess.

  13. whatever…you strike low enough anything is a success

  14. sam s

I don’t think TVD and Twilight are that similar.Same goes for true blood.
Ive read all books, watched all the episodes/movies.They all have their own unique twist on vampire mythology.

I don’t understand the hate. Each to their own.No need to bag the competition. If you don’t like it…don’t watch it.

    Peace.

  15. Uglyboy

TVD has the WB’s spirit but Nina Dobrev is such a bad actress. Please CW no more young girls from “Degrassi: The Next Generation” after that poor Shenae Grimes

Normally I restrict my comments to, you know, the numbers – which is what this site is about, but this one just pisses me off. Any fictional universe where Vampires can walk around in the sun is a non-starter.

    Dracula – Good
Interview with a Vampire – Good
    True Blood – Good

    Twilight – Bad
    Vampire Diaries – Bad

This isn’t rocket science, this is a basic part of the mythology. It would be like having a werewolf that wasn’t affected by the full moon or Superman who wasn’t affected by Kryptonite. DON’T CALL THEM VAMPIRES. Call them something else, call them “eternals” or some other made-up name.

But use the term “vampire” however loosely, throw in some teenage wangst and it becomes a hit. *sigh*

  17. ebas

Did you miss the last episode? Damon was very much affected by sunlight when he tried to leave the house. Vampires can only walk around in daylight if they have a magical ring to protect them. This is also relevant to the plot, it leaves Stefan and Damon free from suspicion because the Sheriff and the Mayor think vampires can only come out at night, that’s how it normally is for vampires in their world.

  18. Dan

Uglyboy, you have a right to your opinion but Nina Dobrev is not a bad actress. She is doing an great job as Elena. And the rest of the actors are great as well.

I am really loving this show, cant wait to see more!!!

  19. zeker

    @ Ebas

Interesting. I may honestly have to reevaluate my hate of the show.

  20. Christian

Yeah like watching something before offering your opinion so you don’t look like an idiot. Oh wait .. too late!
