Below is the table of top syndicated shows for the week ending October 4, 2009.
Please note that the syndicated weekly results are delayed versus normal reporting. While we get the broadcast and cable ratings for the prior Monday-Sunday period every Tuesday, there is an extra week of lag time with the syndicated ratings and these numbers are not for last week, but for the week before last. So while Friday Night Smackdown! is now counted as a syndicated show and we are seeing the numbers again, they are delayed. The numbers below are for Friday October 2, not October 9.

Please note that the #s for Monday Night Football are the total number both for the ESPN airings and the local markets where the games are syndicated to one of the local affiliates (a rule to ensure the markets playing the game can watch them, even if they don't have ESPN). As a result Monday Night Football will be at the top of the syndicated lists until football season is over. It's sort of bogus, but since I can't break the syndicated portion out, I'm just reporting it as Nielsen does, but you can figure most of the viewing is actually directly on ESPN.
For syndicated shows which air on multiple days, the viewership shown is the average of all telecasts.
BUENA VISTA items are syndicated packages of old Disney movies. For more information click here.
DAD = Disney ABC Domestic Television, SPT= Sony Pictures Television, 2/T=Twentieth Television, ESP = ESPN, CTD = CBS Television Distribution.

Glad to see the Office doing well in syndication! I think these ratings are better than what it got in it’s first season!
what is “Century Premiere”?
and are those 16 mil for ESPN MNF separate from the 21 mil on cable?
Ron, Century Premiere was a movie, but what movie I’m not sure, and as of the time I did the post Broadcasting & Cable had not done a writeup (usually I link to them for more context on the numbers in the table).
The info about Monday Night Football is in the text under the table…
Glad to see Oprah still in the top five.
Ok stupid question. when a show is stripped or airing MTWRF, do the ratings reflect an average of those days or a total for the week?
And never mind i saw the answer up there sorry.
Matt, those numbers for stripped shows are an average for the five days across the entire time. Impressive, aren’t some of them? There’s real money in syndicated TV, but just not the Hollywood hoo-ha.
Any word on Bonnie Hunt?? She’s been touting on her show that she’s number one in her time slot in a few big markets!
uhoh MNT beat FOX with Dollhouse.
I still think it was really a big mistake for the CW to let go of Smackdown
Judge Judy kicks some serious ass in syndication. She’s only 800,000 behind Queen Oprah. The old judge is surprisingly popular!
The biggest surprise for me is the consistent good performance of George Lopez in syndication since it was never a big hit during its ABC run
The Office flopped in syndication. There were some sites predicting it to hit similar to the way Family Guy and Two and a Half Men did just three years ago. They are still solid numbers but not as big as people were predicting it to be.
Smackdown! is doing super well and I kind of like it being a syndicated counted show since its always pre-empted anyways. Can’t believe The CW gave up on it and that move is still haunting them.
Smackdown! beats anything FOX airs on Fridays.
I got to agree with Forg, George Lopez is still a huge surprise to me as it does consistently well and House of Payne does well in syndication also. Friends, Seinfeld, and The King of Queens all still good performers.
CSI: NY, House, and Bones are having great runs right now for the dramas.
Dr. OZ is a bigger hit than I thought it would be. Guess anything connected to Oprah will be a success.
I wonder if Guiding Light would’ve entered the syndication business would it had been in here.
Fox should pick up Smackdown and call it a day.
The Office is not a flop. HUGE 18-49 premiere numbers. 18-49 are all that matter.
Surprised Raymond isn’t Top 25.
I agree, why don’t FOX put Smackdown on their network and call it a day. It would get better ratings than Brothers and Dollhouse, plus MyNetwork TV has lowered the ratings drastically for the wrestling program!
