Also, in the "Ouija Board typo" department, my original typo this morning that gave Jay Leno Show the edge over Eastwick with adults 18-49 (1.8 vs. 1.7) turned out to be correct!  Though they were actually tied at 1.7 in the overnights, in the finals Leno did indeed win 1.8 vs. 1.7.

Beat by Leno, and Nikki Finke reports on DHD that ABC execs are happy with “Eastwick”…uh huh.

And “Modern Family” just got a shout out on PTI during a commercial cut back…love it!

  2. Chris

    CSI beats Jay love it

  3. Mandi

    Wow. Glee’s share of W 18-34 is truly impressive…

  4. indeed

  5. Roop

    gleeeeee

  6. Sharon

I must say, I’m very pleased by Modern family’s numbers.

  7. rob

ABC comedies are pretty stable now. The Middle should stay low 2s demo, Modern Family will remain mid 3s and Cougar Town will stay low to mid 3s while Hank just remains low to mid 1s.

Really, really wish Eastwick would do better!

  8. Joe D

ModFam is the breakout winner from the get-go out of their four new series. If ABC cancels Hank soon they might move Couger up and give its replacement the ModFam lead-in hoping to spike the numbers for Eastwick.

  9. Tony

Joe D – they can’t movie cougar town up because its too sexual.

Those are good number Old Christine and Gary Unmarried. I’m really on edge on what CBS will do with these. I know OC will be kept, but will they take a risk and cancel GU to put something else or go one more year to strengthen this comedy block. I mean OC did come in second in adult viewers 18-49.

Hank is dead. The Middle is holding up good considering its lead in. Glee had outstanding women demos! Eastwick is done and I think NBC will keep Mercy. It’s not a breakout hit, but it has decent numbers and they need shows with decent numbers cuz they got nothing!

  10. forg

I’m very happy MODERN FAMILY is up to 3.6 from 3.4 last week especially because the episode was good! The Middle is weak but at least it is up at least from the poor showing of Hank. Cougar Town steady.

    Eastwick beaten by Leno :(

CBS comedies are pretty steady and beat ABC comedies. CBS will keep those two on that schedule especially that they never hurt Criminal Minds numbers

CW is salivating for GLEE’s W18-34 demo

SVU is doing okay. SYTYCD is going up and I think FOX made the right call having a fall run for that show

  11. Darrin

Someone please kill off Gleeee and Hank. The Middle is my favorite new show of the season.

  12. Horacio

Is it just me, or should ABC make “DWTS” 1.5 hours again, followed by “Modern Family” – the show did AMAZING after a special WEDS edition of “DWTS” – I’d bet it would do pretty awesome at 9:30 on Mondays, but would it hurt “Castle”? Maybe. It seems to be that 2hrs of “DWTS” might be too much… so I’d say move “Modern Family” or “Cougar” to Mondays @ 9:30…

  13. forg

Modern Family and Cougar Town are doing fine at Wednesdays, if DWTS will be cut down to 1.5 hours, I bet the Middle will get the 9:30pm because its the show that needs the boost the most

  14. johnthemon

    The Middle sucks. It’s awful.

Mercy is looking less hopeful, but I still can imagine it lasting the season.

  15. johnthemon

@ Tony, a 1.9 can hardly be called decent. In the prelims when it was shown as a 2.0, that was decent. Still, if it continues to go back up I see it sticking around. It’s an okay show.

  16. j

It looks like 5 timeslots this fall will have 3 shows w/consistently 3+ ratings: Sunday & Monday @8, Sunday Wednesday Thursday @9.

Respective odd ones out: ABC, NBC, CBS, NBC, Fox. So at least one for each net.

  17. J

I watch and love glee but I am loving Modern Family too. Thank goodness for dvrs and/or hulu.

  18. TomKH

Glee is a power house with female demos.
With Idol’s help in the winter I’m sure the F18-34 will be in the high 8s or low 9s (could go high up a 10.0), and the 18-49 will be in the mid 4s

  19. j

It really is impressive how Glee is Fox’s #2 hourlong for the fall given that Lie to Me & Fringe both have more established lead-ins and were regularly scheduled after American Idol last season.

I’m wondering if despite Lost leaving, instead of finding the next Lost in Flash Forward or V, at the end of the season ABC’s new 3rd hour of strong scripted programming that can stand on its own will be this comedy hour. It would also tie NBC with # of comedy hours that work well…we’ll see.

  20. vsaint

Wednesday isn’t as tough as Thursday or Monday 9pm.
i like Glee and nice for it to do well, but it’s kind of like NCIS on Tuesday, weaker compeitition, Counter-programming to what other networks are offering, and skewing more female helps, as oppose to male oreinted LTM, Fringe.
I really do like what FOX did this year, except SYTYCD in fall.
Trying to offer some variety. They added Glee-muscial, Human Target-action, Past Life- sci-fi.
