Is this like a wait and see?
I’m hoping this show does well – it’s one of my personal favorites. The stories are good, but the info on micro expressions and other true emotional indicators is amazing – and maybe even a bit creepy. Once it’s pointed out what to look for – it’s amazing how much you start seeing all around you.
Fox.com has the real “doctor” discuss each episode on their web site pointing out key concepts and actual cases he’s worked on. There’s also a funny video spoof of the (Lie to me) Dr. meeting (Dr.) House on the Lie to me home page at Fox.com …
The only thing I don’t like about this show? The name … the “to me” is not upper case on the first letters. Must be those graphics people again
This is one of the best shows on TV right now.
I kind of lost interest for a while, just because I was busy. But the minute I started watching again I was immediately reminded…this is the smartest show on television right now.
I hope it’s able to go and go and go.
I know the ratings are a bit average at the moment but it might be worthy of a post Idol bump if they want to put some real faith in it.
The 1337 – Its basically like a wait and see, though its more toward Lie to Me getting a full year. While its not doing really great, its not doing too bad airing after House. Lie to Me will have aired around 10 episodes by December, My guess is that by November, FOX will order a full season, however the show will have to be moved, when 24 takes its place.
If Terminator could get a full year last season on horrible ratings, then im sure FOX has faith in Lie to Me. With DOllhouse axed, FOX could air Lie to Me fridays at 9. The series may likely die there but if it does better than Dollhouse, FOX will be satisfied.
Dan, with TSCC FOX was perhaps in a position of more luxury where Warner Bros offered them the back nine at steeply discounted pricing. I don’t see anything like that happening for LTM. I don’t get the feeling LTM is anywhere near as cheap as Dollhouse, and so I don’t know about the “Fox will be satisfied” logic.
Unless FOX is really serious about having new scripted content on Fridays “just because”, I don’t see them giving Lie To Me a back nine only to send it to the Friday night graveyard to die. Hopefully its ratings pick up a bit.
Last night LTM’s start time got pushed to 9:43p on the east coast so it will be interesting to see how it and House did last night.
Robert – The only thing with Lie to Me, is the series isnt doing that horrible to not be given a full season’s chance. They could move Lie to fridays replacing Dollhouse, but the series will easily die there. In FOX’s defense they will likely state that they are moving the show there to boost interest in fridays (Like how they move every other series to that night) My guess is that FOX will give Lie to Me a full year and possibly air it Tuesdays after Idol. By March FOX will likely give the post Idol slot to Past Life or Hell’s Kitchen which will likely force Lie to Me to fridays. My thought was never whether or not Lie will get a full year, its what FOX will do with it come midseason.
Past Life only has 7 episodes now, so it gives FOX more room on the schedule should Lie to Me get a full season. FOX also has a new Kitchen Nightmares season they could air 9:00 fridays in Dollhouse’s slot, and it looks like 8:00 fridays may be open, once Brohers finishes up and Til Death likely moves to sundays.
Forgot Yankes were playing. House should do better being on at around 9pm.
So should we assume Past Life wasn’t meet Fox’s expectations.
I was looking forward to this show, but i could see it being cheesy in a Ghost Whisperer kind of way.
Has the show gotten better since last year? with Shawn Ryan coming in this year. I really didn’t like it last year, it was just plain and got beaten up by The Mentalist.
I would like to give it another chance, i’m watching Men, Bang and Gossip Girl Monday 9pm.
Kay, sweetheart, it seems the vacuum of network television has sucked you in’.
The ‘information’ you have been fed about microexpressions is probably crap to say the least. Reading microexpressions is not an exact science, we do not lie all the same, so therefore trying to have the response of one microexpression fits all is completely wrong. Also, theoretically it is not impossible to fake microexpressions, despite what these ‘experts’ (usually the ones that have a lot to gain financially) say. Humans are also not perfect by nature so people reading these microexpressions can also be fallible.
LOL at you thinking you’re an expert honey. Good on you. Tell me if Obama is lying tomorrow will you?
As for the show, I think it will see a full season. Though it is madness on behalf of Fox to keep it in the post House timeslot when they should be trying a new, cheaper show there. Also the realisation that Lie to Me will never be a hit or even have a modicum of lasting success may also enter into the equation.
Lie to Me wont get a full season it’s going to get additional episodes and will air where those 6 cancelled past life episodes would have aired. so it will probably get a 16 to 19 episode season
i agree Lie To Me although a good show it is hardly the best… as for accuracy House run’s rings around it, including quality (good on you house…what a good episode). it aslo wouldn’t hurt to get a new actor to play the central character he gets annoying after some time. but hay thats just my oppinion.
just wondering is house the best show monday night or is there better, im not sure how the ratings work. NCIS has more ratings but house is more popular (not that i am complaining), isn’t huge ratings what makes a show popular?
Three more episodes? What a weird number, where the hell are they going to put three additional episodes?
Presumably Lie To Me will air its originally ordered 13 episodes on Monday at 9PM until mid season and 24′s returns, which would mean Fox then have three episodes to put on the schedule somewhere else. Now either they burn off three episodes on Friday, perhaps as a test for how it would perform next year or alternatively they air three episodes before Past Life debuts or after its run or after they pull it… Yeah I think Past Life is going to flop even with the Idol lead-in, don’t let me down America!
It just doesn’t make any sense to me that they’d pick up a relatively small additional order unless they intend to top up that order as and when they see the quality of these additional scripts, which would make sense.
3 episodes is not enough to cover the Past Life reduction.
This is likely Fox telling Shawn Ryan & Co., “What would the storylines be in the second half, if we were to pick you up?”
In other words, the show is borderline for a back nine at this point. It only did a 2 without the House lead-in, and only a 3 with it.
Lol, LTM is the last refuge of goodness on FOX to me. I haven’t watched House since the new residents appeared and that annoying No. 13 was featured in every episode.
Andrea the ‘new’ residents have now all departed, 13 included and the original team is back together. I’m really enjoying the new season of House (so far) much more than I enjoyed last year.
Tom I agree that this seems to be a what would a back nine look like order but three still seems like such a weird number, especially if they go into production of those scripts without ordering more. Sure they’d be able to get those three episodes on the schedule but what good would it do? Either they bring it back for mid season with three episodes and then pull it again for Past Life, which really makes no sense or they bring it back after Past Life has finished for three random episodes completely disconnected from the rest of the season, which again makes no sense.
Likely has to do with the budget. Kinda miffed they never tried one episode of Dollhouse after AI last year, or a one-off after HOUSE this fall — could have helped with a little exposure… Surprised they don’t do this more often. Maybe the success of GLEE will lead to more “preview” episodes of shows.
Lie to Me will have to trend up to get additional episodes I’m thinking. This is a sign of “We’re happy-ish… but this needs to improve…”
I think Lie to Me and Fringe should switch spots. House/Fringe had a great combo and Fringe actually did something with the large lead in that it had unlike Lie to Me which is doing nothing with it.
Plus Bones and Lie to Me is a better combo anyways just based on content
I love this show, good decision by FOX.
@Alex – Err, odds are Fox won’t okay actual filming of those three scripts until they decide if they are keeping the show.
Basically, if they keep the show, they can say “start filming these scripts next week”. Otherwise they will just eat the cost of the scripts.
