About “V”
“V” – PREMIERES TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 3 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) -- “V” is a re-imagining of the 1980s’ miniseries about the world’s first encounter with an alien race. With huge spaceships simultaneously appearing over 29 cities around the world, the Visitors (or V’s) seem to promote a message of peace. Through their generous offer to share advanced technology, the V’s quickly build a following that may be overlooking a more malevolent agenda.

“V” stars Elizabeth Mitchell as Erica Evans, Morris Chestnut as Ryan Nichols, Joel Gretsch as Father Jack, Lourdes Benedicto as Valerie, Logan Huffman as Tyler Evans, Laura Vandervoort as Lisa, with Morena Baccarin as Anna, and Scott Wolf as Chad Decker.

“V” is produced by The Scott Peters Company and HDFilms in association with Warner Bros. Television. Scott Peters (who wrote the pilot), Jeffrey Bell, Steve Pearlman and Jace Hall are executive producers. The pilot was directed by Yves Simoneau. “V” is broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC’s HDTV format, with 5.1 channel sound and Spanish subtitles. A TV Parental guideline will be assigned closer to airdate.

  1. Commenter Harold thinks crazy fan groups should adopt this as their method du jour of wasting money on “Save our Show” campaigns.

He was ahead of the curve, baby!

That’s all well and good, but what tells the people that its a tv show? They will most likely see a giant V in the sky, wonder what its about, and get on with their day.

How are they to know its advertising for a tv show and that they should tune in?

  3. Sparkle

I think some people may freak-out. They might think it’s a real invasion! ;)

  4. S.

Didn’t they use sky-writing for KyleXY, at least in LA, and something went wrong with the wind blowing away the name before people could read it? They don’t learn, do they?

  5. DenverDean

Is this really wise in light of the “BalloonBoy” Hoax? LOL

  6. AZTop

Did they really put that in the sky? Does anyone watch the Mentalist? That’s very similar to the image that red john leaves at each crime scene and in fact was also shown in the sky in last season’s finale.

    Free advertising for The Mentalist!

  7. AZTop, I don’t think the graphic above was associated with the V campaign, it’s just something Robert found floating in the interwebs. ;)

  8. AZTop

ah I think I get it now, a nice big red “V” in the sky. Not a happy face. Darn. Ok “never mind” as we used to hear on SNL.

BTW I think V is DOA. The original series was weirdly tacky. I don’t have hopes for an improvement this time.

  9. Jon K

@S, a simple V should be quick enough to write that it shouldn’t blow away before they finish.

  10. thirdsaint

I’m going to give the show a try, maybe just because that chick from Lost is in it. I’m not going to invest much time in it if the ratings go bad though.

  11. CK

Won’t most of those cities be cloudy if not rainy in October? How will the public see the skywriting?

  12. ABC chose to kick it off in Boston, hoping the mayor attempts to deploy the Air National Guard.

  13. It will be sunny in Boston, but our local authorities may mistake the whole thing for a terrorist attack.

  14. AppleStinx

“With huge spaceships simultaneously appearing over 29 cities around the world, the Visitors (or V’s) seem to promote a message of peace.”

That’s why these aliens will have a tough time being accepted. Who do they think they are? Miss Universe contestants?? How about “hey New Yorkers (Bostonians, etc etc), we came to take care of your rat population problem and it won’t cost you a dime. As a matter of fact you’ll see a 1 trillion dollar surplus over the next ten years.” Sigh.

  15. Can’t wait to see what the “chem trails” people will think of these giant V’s! LOL

I remain hopeful that a group will do it. Instead, there will probably be the usual assortment of internet petitions, internet poll voting, Twitter hashtagging, WAILING ALL CAPS EMAILS, etc.

    Pathetic.

    Come on, show campaigners! Skywriting!

At least meet me halfway on this. How about a plane towing a banner for the budget-minded delusional fan?

  17. Allen

Many people will either think it’s a terrorist attack or actual alien visitors. Therefore, I think the news will be talking about it. And that’s free publicity, which will help the show’s debut. Because as it stands, most people have no idea what V is.

  18. MooTrain

I love sci-fi, so I’ll be tuning in.

  19. Eric (Ohio)

    No Columbus OHIO?
I’m not watching the show now. ><

  20. ABCFanatic2009

    Nice promotion ABC!
