Reports from all over the Twitter-verse are that Castle has gotten a full season pickup at ABC.

Given its ratings stability (and actually up a tick last night) and especially how well it has performed versus the Tuesday and Wednesday freshman shows at 10pm, The Forgotten and Eastwick, it's not particularly surprising.

Either way we'll have Castle around all season to figure out its renewal prospects for next season.

I wouldn't see this as necessarily bad news for The Forgotten and Eastwick -- that bad news for those shows are the numbers, which are very bad indeed.  Castle smells like a rose by comparison.

    Wooohoooo!!!!

Thanks for making my day, Robert!

And thanks to ABC for recognizing that this show deserves a full season.

happy day! let’s hope it does well enough for a third :) .

  4. It’s nice that they were able to point to growth this week as a reason to pick it up. I wonder if it had dropped back to 2.2 or stayed at 2.3 if we would be hearing this news this week.

Castle really is the little show that could isn’t it. May should be interesting when it comes to this one.

    Yaaay!! I like the show!

    Yippee Wahoo!

The show continues to improve in exeuction. Hopefully people will find it. It doesn’t have the “edge” in tone that the younger demographic seems to want, but it’s a very stylish hour.

  9. YAY!!!!!!!!!!

I love this show. Reminds me of a version of Moonlighting which I also loved until Cybill Shepherd became pregnant and then it went downhill. However, this show is just plain breezy and the banter is great. Keeps growing on me all the time. It use to be I watched it on Hulu within three days. Now it is a must see on Monday nights. Keep growing Castle. What a winner.

I’m happy that now I’ll get to nervously follow Castle on the renew/cancel blogs for the whole season. I’d even like to read the book ‘True Heat’ by none other than Richard Castle. I was afraid the show might be cancelled before I could finish the book!

    YEAHHHHHHHHHHHH!

  15. dvikib: The title of the book is “HEAT WAVE” :)
And great news about the full season pick up, this show is getting better and better with every episode and the acting especially from Stana Katic (I really hope for an EMMY nomination for her next year) is simply fantastic.

I definitely agree on “it’s improving in execution” – last night’s episode caught me off guard, totally didn’t see it coming, and it was very emotional in the end… AND it still had the laughs as always. And as I said in the previous posts – it barely scratched the surface of character development and directions it could go. I’m gonna love seeing how far they take it and if the ratings improve towards the end of the season.

Farscapefan: Thanks for correcting me. I knew it was Heat Wave so no idea why I typed what I did. I guess I was too excited about the show being renewed to think straight!

  18. Awesome news. Well deserved. This is a great show.

I only hope more people find it.

Could this show be the new bones? Starting out slow but sticking around through the tough spots and eventually getting a sizeable audience? I think it just might be.

I saw ABC advertising the Heat Wave book by Richard Castle. I thought it was part of the mystique of the Castle series and they were just playing along with the thread of him writing this book. So, this is a real book???? And it’s in bookstores?? What’s up with that??? Publicity stunt???
