SONS-OF-ANARCHY-GILEAD

One more bit of  gushy love for Sons Of Anarchy and then no more!  At least until next week, when hopefully  even more people will watch.   I think it's the best show on television right now.  I was late to the party, but I was fine with that because I wound up getting to watch 15 episodes (the first season plus a couple from season two) back-to-back without having to wait.  When last night's episode (3.702 million average viewers and a 2.0 adults 18-49 rating)  finished I was kinda irked that I have to wait another week.

But while I was late to the party,  E! Online's Jennifer Godwin displayed skills that would make even Nostradamus envious in this post from last year declaring herself "Son's of Anarchy's Biggest Fan" before the show ever even premiered!

Jen should blow on her knuckles with pride.  FX should, too.   The show is up more than 100% from year ago occupant "The Shield" (which SOA creator and executive producer Kurt Sutter used to work on before getting out from under Shawn Ryan's wing and flourishing!), it's outperforming FX's primetime average by 185 percent in viewers and 242 percent in adults 18-49, and its up over its season one average by 68% in viewers and 77% with adults 18-49.

Here's some more detail:

Wow, this is the ‘True Blood’ for the fall season with its rising ratings.

  2. Chris

    good show

  3. Forg, yep, but without the HUMONGOUS DVD sales. While there is no Biker-mania in the way Twilight has fueled Vampire-mania, it will be interesting to see how the season 2 DVDs sell next year.

I have also been a fan from the beginning. A great cast composed of industry giants (Katie is the Queen of the show!) and fresh talent, the writing and the cinematography are wonderful, and the archetypes are universal and easily understood. Kurt Sutter and his crew have produced an awesome piece of work and I hope it gets all of the kudos it deserves. (Charlie Hunnam is also super hot, which doesn’t hurt)

Well critics agree with you for this season. According to MC, only Modern Family & Mad Men’s reviews are as high.

This may or may not mean Emmys. The Wire was even more praised and lauded by critics yet the Emmys every single year almost completely ignored it.

That was such a good episode yesterday! SOA deserves all the accolades you can throw at it, Robert.

I am also a late comer. I LOVE SAMCRO! I watched 14 episodes back to back. I prefer watching without commericals. I tried watching last year but with commericals it was fustrating to watch. Great show, great writing!

  8. chet

    great show
    hope it s a keeper

  9. I’m not surprised by this a bit. Before the premiere Kurt was asking people to spread the word, and it worked. Now that people have gone and spread it, more people are becoming hooked.

This is easily one of the best written shows on TV, and deserves every bit of hype it’s getting right now.

you know who should be really proud rupert murdoch great quality shows with the ratings to boot with fox, fox news and fx

  11. Jax-Fan

BEST SHOW ON TV… I hate waiting a week to watch it. SOA is the Best show in a long time.

  12. Jon

I’m glad Sons of Anarchy is doing well, FX needed another hit with both Nip/Tuck and Rescue Me ending in 2011 and Damages likely to be gone after its third season. FX seem to be focusing on balancing comedy along with new drama, in fact I think all their pilots were picked up to series which has rarely happened before.

  13. Lia

best show on TV hands down

  14. Visan

Continue the gushin’! This is a fabulous show!

Plus, Charlie Hunnam makes a lady ovulate! :)

  15. Schmoker

This story simply illustrates one other gigantic problem for standards and practices. A show such as this can thrive because it is not beholden to the current level of broadcast networks standards and practices. Eventually, this type of show will air on broadcast television at 8pm. How long that will take I do not know, but it will happen simply because it must. I don’t watch SOA, but I know that cable has a massively unfair advantage when it comes to creating quality programming, because cable does not need to treat the audience as if we are six years old.

  16. Visan

If Katey Sagal, specifically and SOA, as a show, are not nominated for a slew of awards next award season, then something’s funky in Hollywood!

Just from a viewer’s P.O.V., it gets boring as hell seeing the same ol’ shit nominated year after year. New “blood” needs to be pumped into these categories! Really!

  17. By far the best show on TV! Keep up the good work folks I look forward to a long relationship with SOA!

  18. Nicole

I need more than 13 epsodes a year. FX YOU NEED TO MAKE THIS A SEASON LONG SHOW!

  19. The Other Tony

Exactly Schmocker. This also explains why NBC is going backwards instead of forward. By eliminating the 10pm hour of TV it has cut the head off (sort of speak) of any chances at creating more risque shows that would attract an audience. Leno IMO would do much better at 8.

  20. Richie Smith

I only wish that this show(without argument one of the best in history both writing and acting wise ) was on HBO that way you would get the full hour commercial free and believe me, anyone that ever watched it would pay the extra few bucks a month just to tune in.This is a show that makes you wish every night was Tuesday.Meeting adjourned !
