Gabriel Byrne is an international treasure. Because of this show, I’ve watched into his past work and find him to be a remarkable talent. No matter what character he plays, he’s committed to the role. In Treatment is by far the best vehicle to showcase his talent -it’s like theater. I am very grateful to HBO for bringing back this show with Mr. Byrne in the lead.

Paris Barclay, you ROCK…been following your career for years, especially after your Emmy win, my Brotha!! Season two of In Treatment was AWESOME, following a spectacular first season, so I’m excited about a season three. And isn’t Gabriel Byrne a national treasure? What a magnificent talent he is and such a great anchor to the highest caliber of acting talent assembled thus far. Bravo to HBO for standing by this show.

Best wishes for a great season…the team of writers/producers/actors is unbeatable…despite the Emmy voters’ failure to recognize this brilliant work this year. We know, they know, and you know that In Treatment was unmatched. Thanks for popping in, Mr. Barclay. Do you have a website/facebook page?

In Treatment is really expensive to. HBO is having a field day renewing series they renewed Big Love, Eastbound & Down, Entourage, Hung, True Blood, Bored to Death Life and Times of Tim. Also they are on the verge of renewing Flight of the Conchords (creators decision), and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

This is my FAVORITE HBO show, and I’m glad they’re expanding this trigger-happy renewal behavior to “In Treament”. I wonder what will happen to “The No.1 Ladies’ Detective Agency” now?

I stand by the fact that Cherry Jones ROBBED Hope Davis and Dianne Wiest of the Emmy. But now that there’s a third season I can dream of revenge.

This show is in its first season now on British TV (sky arts 1) and is outstanding. So glad that there will be a third season.

I thought that I read somewhere that some eps were used in the training of psychotherapists – maybe on what not to do as well as what to do?

Robert, you were right in calling IT an “Emmy winning drama.” In Season 1, Dianne Wiest and guest actor Glynn Turman both won Emmys – Gabriel was nominated, along with cinematographer Fred Murphy.

In Season Two, Gabriel, Dianne and Hope Davis were all nominated, although none triumphed.

Haven’t seen any of this season, but I thought the 1st season was terrific. Granted it took about 10-15 episodes to really get into, but once I did I was hooked. It sure should make a star out of Mia Wia-something she was fantastic.

I had read yesterday that the creator of the Israeli series had indeed said that HBO picked up In Treatment for a 3rd. They are piloting it currently for French television, if I’m not mistaken. I think it’s a great show (not completely indicative of how psychologist/psychiatrist behave while dealing with patients) but nonetheless an excellent show. It has definitely had it’s resounding moments. I think Byrne does a wonderful job. He works hard at his craft. I also like Diane Wiest and wish she will be back for S3.
*A side note-I asked a fellow doc (who I do some work with in projects and articles) who is a psychiatrist if they watched In Treatment. They responded, “No, because I do it so much better.” Wow, I thought…I like the show and I’m a psychologist and hello to your ego.
Also, The Other Tony, I have to think Entourage is going to wrap it up soon (at least I hope) for it’s weak in the tooth. Also, Big Love would probably go only one more season after #4, if the response is good. So, it clears the deck. CYE will not be back on after this season for a long time, if LD decides to do another season.
I could be shocked though if Entourage went beyond a 7th, BL after a 4th or 5th, and a soon follow up of Curb to this year’s season, which has been very good for the most part thus far.

Tell Me You Love Me was actually renewed and then cancelled. But a lot of the actors from that show probably don’t lost sleep about it. Sonya Walger (FlashForward), Tim DeKay (White Collar), Adam Scott (Party Down), Ally Walker (SoA guest spots), and Iam Somerhalder (Vampire Diaries) have found success elsewhere. And now the creator is working on In Treatment.

Too bad for poor Michelle Borth who ended up on The Forgotten.

I think HBO is more relaxed with renewing some of their half hour long shows. They’ve stated that they will bring Flight of the Conchords back if/when Brett and Jermaine are ready. And the decision to keep Curb going is basically up to Larry David. I think the same is true for the guys who make Eastbound and Down. Its time of return depends on Danny McBride’s schedule.

Outstanding news!!! And its prospects were looking pretty bleak for quite a while. I think there was also talk that it was too taxing for Byrne.

And you’re right Other Tony. I don’t think they’ve cancelled anything in a year and a half. Tell Me You Love Me might’ve been the last. Good job on their part. I was worried for Bored, Tim, and this show but they’re bringing them all back. No disgruntled fans of HBO shows for a long time.

The show didn’t actually win any Emmys under Leight’s watch. All its victories came in the first season.
