thelivefeed's James Hibberd reports that NBC has stated that Trauma will air for at least the next 3 weeks.
Although in the same post Hibberd makes the guess that "The decision on "Trauma" might [go] down to the wire." which is nonsense. The show is 100% dead, whether it goes its entire 13 episode order is the only thing left to wonder.
Update: Nick C has an interesting theory that NBC is hanging onto its dreck through the Olympics since they want to debut new shows after the Olympics promo opportunity. Makes sense.

What I got from Hibberd is that a show that’s going up is not one you cancel. If it (by some miracle) continues to go up each week for the next three weeks, NBC might actually order more episodes. But, that would take a miracle.
@Julia
yeah that’s what surprised me about monday’s overnights. NBC is again put in a tough spot on a show, just like with Mercy. However, I see Trauma going down again next week, perhaps further than before.
Considering CBS was all repeats last night, I think it should’ve been up even more. I agree, johnthemon, that’s it’s back down next week. (Then again, they did have that paramedic come out last night… maybe the gehs will save it!
Hibberd’s a little late to the party. NBC sent out press releases for the 11/2 and 11/9 episodes a couple weeks ago. Kind of hard to justify yanking a show that is higher-rated than its lead-out and nearly as “high” rated as its lead-in. (Not that network robots haven’t done such things when they hate a show.) Simply not picking it up? That’s easy to justify. Because it makes it easy to mollycoddle Peter Berg and let him down easy by telling him they’re so sorry, blah blah blah, but the thing was too expensive to continue. And then maybe he and everyone at NBC will know better for next time not to waste a ridiculous chunk of your ridiculously-exorbitant budget on piss-poor CGI effects that look absolutely awful on a 50″ HD screen.
Seriously!!! You got to be kidding me!!!! NBC Sucks!!! here is my suggestion for next season:
Sunday:
8 – 11pm Football
Monday:
8pm New Drama
9pm New Drama
10pm New Drama
Tuesday:
8pm – 9:30pm The Biggest Loser
9:30pm – Community
10:00pm – New Drama
Wednsday:
8pm – Merecy
9pm – Chuck
10pm – Law & Order: CI (Or whatever the Law & Order is)
Thursday:
8:00 – 30 Rock
8:30 – Parks & Recreation
9:00 – The Office
9:30 – New Comedy
10:00 – Law & Order
Friday:
8:00 – New Game Show
9:00 – New Game Show/Dateline
10:00 – Dateline
Saturday Night:
Just start showing NHL games or repeats of the shows!! you dont need big ratings for a Saturday Win and you can make Hockey Fans happy!!!!
I think they should keep Mercy only cause even thought its not winning in the 18-49, its #1 in viewers for its timeslot.
Kyle, they still have Leno for at least one more year.
And do you think a completely rookie-filled night is they way to make inroads on a competitive (Monday) night?
ya but I dont think Chuck fans would be happy if it was moved back to Monday!!! and thats the only show I see moving to Mondays
I agree with the monday schedule 128boy, My schedule would look like this (with Jay at 10):
Monday
8:00- Mercy/Heros/SVU (depending on renewals)
9:00- NEW DRAMA
Tuesday
8:00-9:30- Biggest Loser
9:30- Community/NEW COMEDY
Wednesday
8:00- Chuck
9:00- New J.J. Spy Show
Thursday
8:00- 30 Rock
8:30- NEW COMEDY
9:00- The Office
9:30- NEW COMEDY
Thursday (alternate)
8:00- NEW DRAMA
9:00- The Office
9:30- 30 Rock
Friday
8:00- NEW SHOW
9:00- Dateline
In the event that both Mercy and Heros are renewed one should be moved to fridays while the other anchors the monday night lineup. Midseason could be different if they continue with this split schedule thing.
If the episodes are finished, they may as well air them. No sense letting $4mil a pop go to waste (though I don’t know how much of a factor Berg-anger is).
Of course, Trauma & Heroes should swap time periods, immediately.
And I still want to know what airs on Mondays starting in December.
Forgot about Sunday in the fall should NBC be outbid for football next year (not sure how long their contract is)
8:00- NEW DRAMA/Mercy (should it be renewed)
9:00- NEW DRAMA
10:00- SVU
Three weeks? Through sweeps? OKaaaaaaay. Now if yesterday was one of the weeks and for the next two weeks they promote the heck out of Chuck returning during sweeps – maybe.
Trauma is OK but I think they should change the name of the show to “Disaster City.”
I still think if you put the shows on USA on NBC, you would get better ratings. I would really like to see how Life compares to the same shows this year.
Not sure Trauma is worth saving. It’s just that keeping it on the schedule vs canceling it is the lessor of two evils. NBC currently has unbelievably weak programming.
I hope they figure a way to keep both Mercy and Trauma. Both of these shows are at the wrong time! They should cancel the Leno Show or move it back to where it belongs…11:35 (sorry Connan)
Does that mean trauma is gong from 13 to 16 episodes ??
Vinny, no it means that NBC will air 3 more of the already purchased 13 episodes instead of pulling it from their schedule entirely. But I see how the headline was confusing.
I have edited the headline to make the situation clearer (I hope!).
Oh, good. I think Trauma is so awful, I look forward to seeing more episodes.
Seriously, it hasn’t improved one bit since the pilot. I’ve been watching in fascinated horror, and will feel a bit bereft when this show is cancelled.
Damnit… finally a show that isn’t dedicated to anti-socialistic girls and it gets cancelled right off the bat…
GET RID OF JAY LENO NBC!!!
Its killing your Numbers.
