"Trauma" has NOT received a pickup. They are shooting their 10th seg. Just in case that odd THR article had wording that confused anyone.

As for the show itself, Cliff Curtis is the only good thing about it. (Unless you get off on seeing unlikable/annoying/faceless people getting impaled on scaffolding/having their arms cut off in machinery/receiving flying shrapnel in their throats and then moaning in pain for a half hour while a "renegade" EMS worker spouts wacky catchphrases like "Ha ha! I love blood!" and other EMTs bump uglies while they're supposed to be saving lives.) I hope he can land a better show when this one is over. A show on another network, of course, because NBC doesn't seem to have any interest in making good shows anymore.

Trauma could finish up in either December or January depending on how NBC schedules repeats. NBC has 19 episodes of Heroes and 14 will have aired by December 14. The next 5 will likely air January 4-Feb 1 and with no temporary 9:00 replacements between that time it would seem smart to air Trauma originals. Burning through Trauma is probably better than repeats of anything else. It seems that Chuck is a definite to premiere in March and wont air earlier.

Trauma is just a rehash of a dozen shows. the characters are cardboard
UNLIKE: 'CHUCK'
I'm hoping CHUCK comes roaring back in the next few weeks.
Well written, humourous, very well acted, clever word play, and smart relationships all make for a terrific show.

Well NBC burns off all of its axed series anyway, and if they pull it, what else will NBC air alongside Heroes?

Agree with Dan, if they are planning on sticking with Trauma thru most if not all of sweeps, they might as well air the last of the initial 13 and then switch things up come January... unless Trauma starts dropping even further in the ratings, but it seems to be stable even if it's at a very low number.

Paul, I don't believe that digitalspy account is correct. If you actually read Hibberd's post it's just already produced episodes that will air, not an extra 3.

Looks like NBC is going into the November sweeps with pretty much its regular programming. I would have thought they would have tried to shake things up with some stunt programming like ABC and "V"

It's a shame Digital Spy doesn't provide a link to their source for that. Yes, they make it sound like there were three more episodes ordered, but they probably just misunderstood Hibberd's report.

Paul,

No where in that report does it say anything about 16 episodes. All it says is the same as what Hibberd reported.

No way is Trauma getting any new episodes above the 13 already ordered.

100%? Really? Parks and Recreation has the same index and it got a back nine. And it is the fourth highest-rated hour-long show on its network--CSI and The Mentalist do not even make their network's top four. Obviously, there are many flaws to my "arguments" (production costs, Jay Leno, length, CBS is prosperous and NBC is not), but I would not say that I am 100% certain that Trauma will be cancelled.

Oh, good. I think Trauma is so awful, I look forward to seeing more episodes. :) Seriously, it hasn't improved one bit since the pilot. I've been watching in fascinated horror, and will feel a bit bereft when this show is cancelled.

Vinny, no it means that NBC will air 3 more of the already purchased 13 episodes instead of pulling it from their schedule entirely. But I see how the headline was confusing.

I have edited the headline to make the situation clearer (I hope!).

I hope they figure a way to keep both Mercy and Trauma. Both of these shows are at the wrong time! They should cancel the Leno Show or move it back to where it belongs...11:35 (sorry Connan)

Not sure Trauma is worth saving. It's just that keeping it on the schedule vs canceling it is the lessor of two evils. NBC currently has unbelievably weak programming.

I still think if you put the shows on USA on NBC, you would get better ratings. I would really like to see how Life compares to the same shows this year.

If the episodes are finished, they may as well air them. No sense letting $4mil a pop go to waste (though I don't know how much of a factor Berg-anger is).

Of course, Trauma & Heroes should swap time periods, immediately.

And I still want to know what airs on Mondays starting in December.

I agree with the monday schedule 128boy, My schedule would look like this (with Jay at 10):
Monday
8:00- Mercy/Heros/SVU (depending on renewals)
9:00- NEW DRAMA
Tuesday
8:00-9:30- Biggest Loser
9:30- Community/NEW COMEDY
Wednesday
8:00- Chuck
9:00- New J.J. Spy Show
Thursday
8:00- 30 Rock
8:30- NEW COMEDY
9:00- The Office
9:30- NEW COMEDY
Thursday (alternate)
8:00- NEW DRAMA
9:00- The Office
9:30- 30 Rock
Friday
8:00- NEW SHOW
9:00- Dateline

In the event that both Mercy and Heros are renewed one should be moved to fridays while the other anchors the monday night lineup. Midseason could be different if they continue with this split schedule thing.

Kyle, they still have Leno for at least one more year.

And do you think a completely rookie-filled night is they way to make inroads on a competitive (Monday) night?

Seriously!!! You got to be kidding me!!!! NBC Sucks!!! here is my suggestion for next season:
Sunday:
8 - 11pm Football

Monday:
8pm New Drama
9pm New Drama
10pm New Drama

Tuesday:
8pm - 9:30pm The Biggest Loser
9:30pm - Community
10:00pm - New Drama

Wednsday:
8pm - Merecy
9pm - Chuck
10pm - Law & Order: CI (Or whatever the Law & Order is)

Thursday:
8:00 - 30 Rock
8:30 - Parks & Recreation
9:00 - The Office
9:30 - New Comedy
10:00 - Law & Order

Friday:
8:00 - New Game Show
9:00 - New Game Show/Dateline
10:00 - Dateline

Saturday Night:
Just start showing NHL games or repeats of the shows!! you dont need big ratings for a Saturday Win and you can make Hockey Fans happy!!!!

I think they should keep Mercy only cause even thought its not winning in the 18-49, its #1 in viewers for its timeslot.

Hibberd's a little late to the party. NBC sent out press releases for the 11/2 and 11/9 episodes a couple weeks ago. Kind of hard to justify yanking a show that is higher-rated than its lead-out and nearly as "high" rated as its lead-in. (Not that network robots haven't done such things when they hate a show.) Simply not picking it up? That's easy to justify. Because it makes it easy to mollycoddle Peter Berg and let him down easy by telling him they're so sorry, blah blah blah, but the thing was too expensive to continue. And then maybe he and everyone at NBC will know better for next time not to waste a ridiculous chunk of your ridiculously-exorbitant budget on piss-poor CGI effects that look absolutely awful on a 50" HD screen.

Considering CBS was all repeats last night, I think it should've been up even more. I agree, johnthemon, that's it's back down next week. (Then again, they did have that paramedic come out last night... maybe the gehs will save it! :-)

@Julia

yeah that's what surprised me about monday's overnights. NBC is again put in a tough spot on a show, just like with Mercy. However, I see Trauma going down again next week, perhaps further than before.

What I got from Hibberd is that a show that's going up is not one you cancel. If it (by some miracle) continues to go up each week for the next three weeks, NBC might actually order more episodes. But, that would take a miracle.
