“Trauma” has NOT received a pickup. They are shooting their 10th seg. Just in case that odd THR article had wording that confused anyone.

As for the show itself, Cliff Curtis is the only good thing about it. (Unless you get off on seeing unlikable/annoying/faceless people getting impaled on scaffolding/having their arms cut off in machinery/receiving flying shrapnel in their throats and then moaning in pain for a half hour while a “renegade” EMS worker spouts wacky catchphrases like “Ha ha! I love blood!” and other EMTs bump uglies while they’re supposed to be saving lives.) I hope he can land a better show when this one is over. A show on another network, of course, because NBC doesn’t seem to have any interest in making good shows anymore.

Here would be my suggestion for NBC’s schedule next year. I think they should only have Jay on Mon/Wed/Fri:

Trauma could finish up in either December or January depending on how NBC schedules repeats. NBC has 19 episodes of Heroes and 14 will have aired by December 14. The next 5 will likely air January 4-Feb 1 and with no temporary 9:00 replacements between that time it would seem smart to air Trauma originals. Burning through Trauma is probably better than repeats of anything else. It seems that Chuck is a definite to premiere in March and wont air earlier.

UNLIKE: ‘CHUCK’
I’m hoping CHUCK comes roaring back in the next few weeks.
Well written, humourous, very well acted, clever word play, and smart relationships all make for a terrific show.

Agree with Dan, if they are planning on sticking with Trauma thru most if not all of sweeps, they might as well air the last of the initial 13 and then switch things up come January… unless Trauma starts dropping even further in the ratings, but it seems to be stable even if it’s at a very low number.

Well NBC will have aired 9 Trauma episodes by November 23, If Chuck’s not coming back early, they may as well burn through Trauma.

Looks like NBC is going into the November sweeps with pretty much its regular programming. I would have thought they would have tried to shake things up with some stunt programming like ABC and “V”

It’s a shame Digital Spy doesn’t provide a link to their source for that. Yes, they make it sound like there were three more episodes ordered, but they probably just misunderstood Hibberd’s report.

No way is Trauma getting any new episodes above the 13 already ordered.

100%? Really? Parks and Recreation has the same index and it got a back nine. And it is the fourth highest-rated hour-long show on its network--CSI and The Mentalist do not even make their network's top four. Obviously, there are many flaws to my "arguments" (production costs, Jay Leno, length, CBS is prosperous and NBC is not), but I would not say that I am 100% certain that Trauma will be cancelled.

Oh, good. I think Trauma is so awful, I look forward to seeing more episodes. Seriously, it hasn’t improved one bit since the pilot. I’ve been watching in fascinated horror, and will feel a bit bereft when this show is cancelled.

Not sure Trauma is worth saving. It’s just that keeping it on the schedule vs canceling it is the lessor of two evils. NBC currently has unbelievably weak programming.

If the episodes are finished, they may as well air them. No sense letting $4mil a pop go to waste (though I don’t know how much of a factor Berg-anger is).

Of course, Trauma & Heroes should swap time periods, immediately.

Hibberd’s a little late to the party. NBC sent out press releases for the 11/2 and 11/9 episodes a couple weeks ago. Kind of hard to justify yanking a show that is higher-rated than its lead-out and nearly as “high” rated as its lead-in. (Not that network robots haven’t done such things when they hate a show.) Simply not picking it up? That’s easy to justify. Because it makes it easy to mollycoddle Peter Berg and let him down easy by telling him they’re so sorry, blah blah blah, but the thing was too expensive to continue. And then maybe he and everyone at NBC will know better for next time not to waste a ridiculous chunk of your ridiculously-exorbitant budget on piss-poor CGI effects that look absolutely awful on a 50″ HD screen.

What I got from Hibberd is that a show that’s going up is not one you cancel. If it (by some miracle) continues to go up each week for the next three weeks, NBC might actually order more episodes. But, that would take a miracle.
