The “Record Jay For 11:35 Playback” movement is gathering quite a bit of steam. Fans of “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” are rebelling against NBC’s decision to dump Jay for the extremely unfunny Conan “I Suck So Bad” O’Brien. Haven’t seen a ratings near my home nor those of my neighbors. Those numbers are skewed at best and do not accurately reflect the numbers of people watching any given program.

I think Castle has the same potential. It’s quirky and intelligent and has a very loyal fanbase. I can see it building the same way House did.

I’ll make it really simple for you, pish. Castle is a FUN show. It doesn’t have all the moodiness of others like CSI, the repetitive and uninteresting plotlines and characters of many of the cookie cut “comedies” and dramas of today, and it doesn’t need sex or language or ridiculous amounts of violence to capture your attention. It’s family friendly, with enough romantic undertones to appeal to women (like my wife), enough plot to keep the attention of those that don’t just want blood and bedsheets and explosions, and enough humor for anyone. It’s very well casted, VERY well written, and just plain fun to tune in to.

I never really watched Firefly or anything Whedon. I don’t watch Castle for Fillion. I watch it for the whole package. Castle is a throwback to the shows people my age (WELL within the 18-45 range…I ain’t even 30 yet!) grew up on, shows that the whole family could sit down and enjoy. It’s not perfect–I wouldn’t want my young daughter watching some of the body discoveries, for example, though it sure beats CSI and others in that–but it’s pretty close.

Maybe you should try latching on to a series or two and watch it just for the sake of enjoying it, pish. Might do you some good. Certainly a better hobby than urinating all over those that do.

NOW I am done until next week. I really don’t care about the ratings overall, long as it stays on television. So that’s why I’ll be back next Monday and Tuesday, to check and see how likely that may be.

Constantly ranting on about “Castle” being “way below” Season One highs is incredulously misleading. I believe the Pilot episode for Season One of Castle – Flowers for your Grave, had almost Twelve-Million viewers, and 18-49 demo of 2.9 or 3.0; and slipped a little with each episode, but remained very high those first several episodes after the Pilot, thus, over-inflating the average numbers. Also, the Pilot for Castle was heavily promoted months before it aired, including The Academy Awards and in Movie theaters among others! Season Two of Castle, since after the Premiere Episode, gets no promotion what-so-ever, except ten minutes before the episode airs on Dancing With the Stars. So stop comparing Season Two averages with the Season One averages because of the Pilot, and first several episodes skewing the average higher.

With regards to “People hanging on to your every word?” Keep dreaming Cockroach. I take Monday and Tuesday because of my “Castle Obsession” and “Nathan Fillion Obsession” to search the Internet for news regarding both. And part of that, is coming to this site to get ratings for that show the following day, and unfortunately all this season, having to listen to your spiteful rants against Nathan Fillion and anything Joss Whedon related! It’s gotten beyond the point of pathetic.

My top shows tied for #1 I’ve watched in my life: Twin Peaks, Highlander-The Series, Adventures of Brisco County Jr., HBO’s Rome, and Firefly/Serenity. Way below that are some Whedon shows among many others, such as Angel, Buffy and Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog(Can’t stand Dollhouse), but Firefly/Serenity gets the nod for favorite TV show ever! If that makes me a nerd and loser, then so be it, but at least I live above the level of an Cockroach!

I followed Bruce Campbell through the 80′s and 90′s, all the way through Jack of All Trades, and have followed Nathan Fillion since Firefly, and in my opinion, they both have a “unique acting voice” that isn’t for everyone, but I Love! The only difference was Bruce had the physicality of a real-life Warner Brothers Action Cartoon brought to life, such as “The Road Runner,” that was used in Evil Dead II, that Nathan doesn’t have.

If you want to watch a show with an actor that has that unique quality that Bruce Campbell had, with the Whedonesque Humor from shows like Angel, Buffy and Dr. Horrible, and Charm of Cary Grant, tune into Castle on Monday nights; not just for Nathan Fillion as Richard Castle, but Stana Katic as Detective Kate Beckett, Molly Quinn as Alexis and the rest of this talented ensemble! Or you can watch that Mediocre Red-Head with “The Sunglasses” on CBS!

Goodbye Pisher, Nathan Fillion will be “Remembered” long after you have been squished under someone’s Boot-Heel!

NBC made a HUGE mistake of putting Leno on every night during prime time! I mean, it’s the same thing EVERY night, lame jokes and semi-hugh-profile celebs promoting new works of theirs.

What I’d really like to know is why on earth is a repeat let alone a firt run episode of any CSI franchise is garnering any viewers, you’ve seen half a dozen you’ve seen them all! It’s a 45 year old guy acting dramatically after seeing a dead body, despite the fact that their job is to go out of their way and search for dead bodies… and then 45 minutes later, finding the killer(s) and killing them or arresting them, and then they consider dawdling around to make one episode into two a “cliffhanger”. Oh what has happened to the days of TV shows that require people to remember more then just the names of the characters…?

I don’t know if you’ve been watching the right season. OTH’s been really, really good this season compared to last.

Unless, of course, what you really don’t like is the truth.

Shocked to see OTH outdo it in ratings, OTH has gotten really bad this past season, they should pull the plug on that one soon.

This is where you fail with people – they’re the viewer, you’re the suit making money off the show. Part of the reason why people love Whedon’s work is that his style caters to those who want something more out of television than Big Brother, Idol and other disposable, cheap stuff. He was ridiculed here for stating that he “doesn’t make hit shows”, but that is the essence of the problem: you assume his main goal is to make money for the network, and that he failed. And I praise him for making what ever the hell he wants every time, and hopes it catches on. The suits would have never given him money to do it if there wasn’t some hope that the drones out there, not just his fans, might give his stuff a go, it has happened before, and the blame is theirs, and the system’s, before everyone else.

Heh, it’s not that the networks don’t need him, it’s that he doesn’t need networks. I’m waiting for the day when he launches his first internet or DVD/BluRay based show, and sells it directly to people who give a damn.

Have never seen Castle so we sampled that last night. Thought it was a pretty good show. Have only seen Serenity but got the jokes. It was fun.

CSI Miami is “fun” in a different way and is the best show to watch in HD on network TV but we decided to give Castle a try since CSI Miami was in repeats.

Okay. That makes sense. I’m not a fan of One Tree Hill (I’m watching How I Met Your Mother when it’s on).

I agree that Hillary Duff is not my favorite actress. I probably watch the show more because of Chuck/Blair characters. They make the show enjoyable. Blake is sometimes painful to watch.

Good summary, marenamoo. Is it a blockbuster? By no means. But it’s steady, and with all their series that have bombed, I can’t imagine ABC dumping that kind of consistency. Now the question is: can it continue?

Actually last season OTH was consistently garnering more viewers with GG as a lead in.

It has nothing to do with OTH being a bad lead in, it has something to do with the declining quality of Gossip Girl this season (which really means Hilary Duff in my book)

For Castle, I think last week’s numbers were:

So, what’s all that equal? Steady growth, or stability at worst.

Pisher, you are an “Internet Cockroach,” that unforunately I cannot step on with my “Boot-Heel.” I suspect that since you refer to Nathan Fillion fans, and Whedonites as “Nerds & Geeks” that you wanted to be a member of the club, but got turned down somewhere down the road for being too much of an “Nerdish Geek” for evan the likes of us, and Joss Whedon gave Nathan Fillion the unenviable assignment of informing you – that you were “Denied Membership.” And since then, with your “Lifelong Dreams” shattered – have resented Nathan & anything Whedon ever since.

By the way Pisher, I’m a huge Castle fan and I’m a Forty-Three-Year-Old Male. So I’ve still got six years left to go in the 18-49 demographic. Yes, this is an ABC show and I’m Male, so I don’t count, but I’m not an Nielson Home anyway, I just watch live and DVR it at the same time to watch again!

I thought the hilarity was unintentional too… until one episode had a shot of Horatio in the classic Superman pose — hands on hips with fabric billowing in the background like the American flag and the camera held low to make him look gigantic. At that point, I realized that the hilarity was absolutely intentional — at least on the part of the crew. Whether David Caruso realizes it is another issue…
