NEW YORK—October 28, 2009—BET banked impressive viewer numbers on Tuesday, October 27th with the premiere of the 2009 BET HIP-HOP AWARDS which garnered 3.8 million total viewers, making it the #1 hip-hop telecast in BET History and television’s #1 hip-hop themed telecast for the 4th consecutive year according to Nielsen Media Research. Additionally, the premiere and encore of MONICA: STILL STANDING garnered 3.2 million total viewers making it the #2 series debut in BET history behind the debut of TINY & TOYA.*
The 2009 BET HIP-HOP AWARDS celebrated hip-hop elite with a night of performances and appearances by Jay Z, Young Jeezy, Snoop Dogg, Missy Elliott, Monica, Fabolous, DJ Khaled, The Dream, Tiny and Toya, Jim Jones, Wale, Gucci Mane, Mario, OJ Da Juiceman, Soulja Boy Tell’em, Chuck D, Plies, DJ Drama, Shawty Lo, Fonzworth Bentley, Lil Scrappy, Dorrough, Nipsey Hussle, Goodie Mob, Big Boi, and Ludacris, all of whom rocked the stage with swagger and style.
