Sons-of-Anarachy-Season-2-Episode-9

from next week's episode of Sons Of Anarchy

Just kidding about the ouch thing, and being a deliberately contrary after last week's flurry of  media stories about Sons Of Anarchy beating Jay Leno (and The Forgotten),  Last night SOA tied with Jay with a 1.8 adults 18-49 rating, and both shows were beaten out by The Forgotten and its 2.0 adults 18-49 rating.

I suppose if I were a true diehard fanboy I'd be miffed that last night's episode, which was excellent, fared worse than last week.  But SOA will still be FX's best show, will still be one of the top cable performers for the week across all demos and will still be back for a third season.   Plus its numbers are still like 3X what Damages were last season and Damages is coming back.

By this time next year, we will be covering ratings for season 3 of Sons Of Anarchy, and  The Forgotten will be, well, you know...

Wouldn’t you rather look at Christian Slater and all of those beautiful women than some nasty biker dude. The Forgotten is quality.

  2. Sons Of Anarchy is quality and one of the biker dudes side businesses’ is running a porn studio…and the standards around maximum skin exposure are a bit more lax on FX.

I find the “story” on Sons of Anarchy to be much higher quality, but last night, around 250,000 thousand more adults 18-49 agreed with you than me :-)

  3. cool

Bruckheimer and quality in the same sentence? I don’t think so :)

  4. Jon

SOA was a bit down from last week but there was heavier cable competition from basketball which may have dented it but a third season is all but guaranteed, can’t say the same for a fourth season of Damages.

  5. Jon, good point on the basketball impact. I watched the games and then SOA on DVR, but being on the west coast the games were over while SOA was still airing.

  6. Visan

Charlie Hunnam’s more beautiful than Christian Slater! To hell with SOA’s tight storytelling!

    Kidding!

I guess that damn b-ball game took a chunk of SOA’s audience. Whatevs….SOA’s still a fantastic show!

  7. greennogo

Yeah, I watched the games last night, and just caught SOA off my DVR today, so I’m sure the games had some impact on the demo.

  8. j

On a relative basis only Loser did better last night.

SoA is one of just six shows to rate a B+ on MC. I wonder if its floor surpasses the ceiling of Rescue Me/Mad Men/Breaking Bad/In Treatment.

  9. Mel

Charlie Hunnam IS more beautiful than Christian Slater. Not kidding.;) Shows considerably more skin too. And has better dialogue and storylines to work with.

  10. O Bloody Hell

    > I find the “story” on Sons of Anarchy to be much higher quality, but last night, around 250,000 thousand more adults 18-49 agreed with you than me :-)

Maybe they just didn’t pay their cable bill and only had broadcast TV to watch…

    > Bruckheimer and quality in the same sentence? I don’t think so

Uhhhh, CSI isn’t quality? Even if it’s not your cup of tea, it’s always been a good show.

  11. I don’t think the ratings drop says anything about the quality of the episode. How can people know ahead of time that it’s not good and choose not to watch it?

It’s probably a combination of the game, a new series, and natural ebb and flow. SOA isn’t going anywhere, and the ratings are going to surprise everyone this year.

  12. MIke the Canadian

My only issue with SoA is I have to wait 7 days between eps, damn annoying, great show.

  13. tk

can u please post ABC family’s Greek numbers for the last couple of weeks, thx

  14. Number Cruncher

    @ TK

    Greek (October 26th)
    - 0.773 million viewers

    Greek (October 19th)
    - 0.682 million viewers
    - 0.5/1 HH
    - 0.3/1 A18-49

    And for good measure…

    Greek (October 12th)
    - 0.658 million viewers
    - 0.4/1 HH
    - 0.3/1 A18-49

    All courtesy of Travis Yanan.

  15. tk

    thanks alot number cruncher
it has been improving substantially over the course of 3 weeks.
Do u have a link, where i can see these results every week for comparison with other shows on cable because this site doesnt report some of my favorites.

  16. yostef

Christian Slater is getting old. SOA is a great show that has more originality than most if not all shows on TV right now. So SOA ratings dipped a little bit. Who cares, us die hard fans will keep the show going, and like the author said the forgotten will be….I’ll finish it FORGOTTEN.

  17. carl

was the lady found dead was the old whore who ran the porn studio?

  18. Sons of Anarchy is a great show. One of the best on the air in years! I have “Peace4theMissing” friends that are working to keep the Forgotten on the air. Two different drama shows. Thank goodness for my DVR~

  19. yostef

    @carl…yes it was Luann.

  20. SilverTondueDevil

I would take all the SOA men and women over Slater anyday. I had to get rid of my cable but still watch SOA on hulu and bare through the week delay. The Forgotten will follow where other Slater projects have gone…..tvland heaven.
