Only thing I’d be worried about regarding a January return is bumping up against the 24 season premiere… and well, bumping into 24 generally. Then again, 24′s numbers last year were much lower than in past seasons… so maybe it won’t be the crusher that it once was. Still though, I’d fear having Chuck face off against House too.

NBC should confirm Chuck premiering in January when they announce their midseason schedule though besides Chuck there wont be that many changes, just new series on sundays and new series replacing Heroes and Law & Order when they finish up.

Yeah! This is the best news I have had all week. Go Chuck. I will watch it on Monday and I would watch it on Tuesday, I would watch it on any day. I would watch it with Subway foot longs and I would watch it with yogurt. I would watch my Chuck at any time and any day.
As for House, I’ll Hulu it.

I dont think there will be any more episodes, I think 19 seems like the 22 for this year. The DVD release date was announced for January 5, Trauma has just been axed, and 6 more episodes have been ordered. Now NBC needs to confirm Chuck’s January return.

Idea: Instead of running repeats of The Jay Leno Show which will get hammered, how about running five episodes of Chuck, every week night at 10?

Chuck has a loyal fanbase, but ultimately it will get crushed on any night, this way you can allow viewers to get their dose of Chuck and only have to DVR their other shows for one week every 2 months?

Yes, it’s risky, but I think unlike game shows that got spread out over an entire week in the early 00′s Chuck fans will tune in. Right now the episode count is 19, so one more and you could do it five times.

Pick a week in January, March, April and May that most other nets are in reruns as well and you might be able to establish a bigger fanbase, and justify a normal arrangement for a fourth season next year.

NBC is a joke nowadays so why not try something innovative that hasn’t been done on broadcast TV before?

Very good news! Bf and I got addicted to Chuck over the summer, thanks to Netflix. I wish season 2 would be out earlier so we’d have some more time to catch up before the new season rolls out though.

I’d love to see them put it in a less competitive timeslot too, but hey, I’ll take what I can get!

Though this is excellent news for the Chuck fan in me (This is a WAY better chance at success then we had originally anticipated), I’m also a bit cautious.

That “Taking Mercy’s 8 pm time slot on Wed.” seems like a great idea, but as has been said, isn’t likely to happen. Wednesday’s at 8 are way more promising than leaving it to fend for itself against the House juggernaut. Only time will tell.

Once again. The Chuck writer and producer Phil Klemmer said on a Chuck TV podcast that they love the tight season 3 the way it is. He said they have no problem writing a six episode mini season. They don’t want filler, they want a tight story line.

As of yesterday they are just finishing writing 3.12. The extra episodes would be 3.5 kind of like a mini season.

Chuck seems like a good show, funny, but house fan basis is big ratings for DWTS is hard to beat so they would be better off airing it on Tuesday…

This season has been uneventful and frankly quite dull, none of the returning shows have done anything spectacular, cable offers the only bright lights so far, Chuck is the only highlight I see on the horizon, and with more eps already ordered its an early litmus test to their quality. Bring on the chuck cause I’m dying for some funny.

there was a March 3 2010 premiere dated floating around for it though so maybe Mercy will be moved?

Wonder if NBC will do some sort of “catch up” marathon somewhere along the way by airing some key episodes of Chuck from last season? Thanksgiving Chuck-a-thon? December being the hash of a schedule it generally is, maybe a few mini-thons before January to get attention? Throw in some sort of Subway-sponsored advertising gimmick tie-in with the Olympics (Chuck-lympics?) and Jeffster doing some music video commercials? Freewheeling on thoughts here and, well, not to be impolite, but NBC may have some holes in the schedule that could be filled. (Chuck ALL WEEK when Leno goes dark for reruns!)

This is definitely a nice (and very early) Christmas present to the Chuck fans, that much is certain (while Trauma got a rock in its Halloween bag). Six of the “back 9″ already — that is a good sign of faith by someone in the management (and, yes, probably also declining faith in the shows already on the schedule). Regardless, Chuck got an investment of faith by someone at NBC (why give more episodes if they didn’t like the show?). I hope the faith is rewarded with more seasons to come. Congrats, fans of Chuck. Congrats.

This is great news in terms of getting a longer season of Chuck. As for picking up new viewers, I’m skeptical on whether January is better than March. I kind of think people would be more willing to begin watching a returning series at the start of a new season as opposed to midway through, as will be the case in the post-Olympics time now. And I put more value on the Olympics this season just because I don’t think anyone is watching NBC right now, so its hard for people to know when anything will be on. But we can just hope for the best and hope that NBC launches a major off network promo campaign.

As for how NBC treated Southland and this being a coin toss, I don’t think so at all. Chuck does have an established and steady fan base that produced a steady demo rating. Southland had a little more than a handful of episodes and a dwindling, not steady, viewership. Very different situations, even beyond the tones of the shows.

By the way, bought both seasons of TSCC and have been enjoying Summer Glau as Cameron. People who say she can’t act don’t seem to understand that she’s acting like a freaking robot, not a drama queen! Some of her lines are CLASSIC: “Cameron, is that your car? No. It belongs to the guy who I just killed and stuffed in the trunk.”

It doesn’t get any better than THAT!!
