They wouldn’t switch the two shows because the ratings wouldn’t be as good in the 9:00 time slot, but, if they did, I suppose it would prove a point. And why kill their prize show when it is doing so well?

Maybe the CW should put the Vampire Diaries on at 9:00 to compete with Grey’s and CSI. Just switch with Supernatural.

Flashforward was so hyped to be the next LOST, and it built people’s expectations up, so when they watched, it was only ok.
Which is fine, but when you expect a show to be good and it’s only ok, it makes you feel like the show’s terrible.
Dominic Monaghan said something like it’s a dumbed down version of LOST.
It’s slowly become like Jericho/Prison Break.

Phil, The Mentalist is CBS’s 2nd best performer at 10 pm. Expectations were pretty high for it, so some people seem to be disappointed, but it will definitely be renewed at these numbers.

I can’t find too much too easily from that far back, but I did find one article from November 2000 which put CSI in the top 10 according to household rating. So I would guess that 3.4 is the lowest demo rating including Friday.

Though we lack the historical archive, we do not lack access to people who do have access. The 3.4 was a series low for an original airing of CSI. FOX and others reported this information and didn’t specify as Thursday only. But we cannot verify against Friday numbers. Edit: but since the Friday episodes were nine years ago, can that be a huge surprise?

Ouch on the FlashForward drop, my suggestion that its moving to be paired with Lost doesn’t seem so insane now does it!

On another note it only took five episodes for The Mentalist to beat CSI in the demo. It’ll be interesting to see if it can do that next week without the baseball factor.

In Regards to CSI, you need to remember that it does come in #1 in its timeslot for total viewers(well, not last night because of the world series). So far this season it has regularly beaten Grey’s Anatomy in Total viewers and even though its audience is way down compared to the “Grissom Years”(this show at one time used to average over 30 million viewers), I see it in No Danger of being cancelled or even being moved to a new timeslot.

If any shakeup occurs, it will be cast changes. I have always Liked Laurence Fishburne as an Actor but he is so Ill Suited for his CSI role, he has no chemistry with the other actors on the show.

Just shaking my head. Heading into the local news in the last half hour, NBC’s competition has it doubled up, tripled up, and quadrupled up. I would love to see the local news ratings if you guys could find them. That is still the untold story about NBC that is going to explode eventually.

Ouch for Flashforward hopefullly will bounce back. Dominic Monaghan was awesome as Simon was awsome hopefully well get more of him.

FFs Biggest problem imo is there focusing to much on characters and not enought of the mystery we dont need to be remined every 5 seconds olivia is going to have an affair or Demetri didnt seem a thing or mark starts drinking again hopefully itll go back up to 3.0s nexted week and these problms are just teething problems.

Good news for Community, that was a great episode too.

Ironically, that was the unfunniest episode of The Office ever… even worse than the first season when it was just a copy of the British version minus the charm.

I don’t think anyone should be worried about FlashForward either. It will jump back up when the WS is over. And by the way, I remember Lost being a little slow at first too. Shows need time to build, which is something they just don’t get anymore.

Anyone remember when Cheers was going to get cancelled because of its terrible ratings? Everyone likes to think their favorite show was totally awesome right out of the gate… if you go back and watch the first season, you’d probably see that they weren’t as awesome as you remember.

I gave up on both The Vampire Diaries and FlashForward after their first few weeks of epic suckitude, but I think the hype has convinced me to give VD another shot. It’s nice to see the CW have a new hit, as they certainly can’t cost off ANTM and Smallville forever.

As for FlashForward, I’m curious to see what happens to the ratings after the big April episode where all is revealed. Will viewers stick around, or will they flee like they should have weeks ago?

I’m also one of the viewers who wants to like FF but am just not feeling it so much.. It has so much potential and maybe that’s why I’m wanting to like it so bad but the show is just missing something. It’s not focusing on so much of the what/why/who/how aspect of the blackout as it is on the flashforwards. And I’m sick of Olivia and her flashforward. Granted, I haven’t watched last night’s epidosde yet and based on what ppl are saying, it seems to have improved a bit, so we’ll see.

Good to see VD gaining more and more viewers, although I was actually expecting a little less because based on certain areas, there was a glitch with the network and the voices and lips were not in sync. I don’t know if that happened to anyone else. It finally cleared up by the half hour but it was really annoying and distracting. But based on the #s, not everyone experienced it.

“Vampire Diaries” beat “Parks and Recreation” in key demos. “Parks” may not have any laughs, but that’s sure funny.

Anyone watch “The League” on FX last night? Any numbers for that? The critics are slamming it hard. I figured that probably meant it was a funny and well-cast show. Sure enough, it was. One hysterical scene towards the end had me in stitches. I guess FX didn’t send out as nice gift certificates to the critics as NBC did with the nope-still-as-unimproved-as-ever “Parks.”

Its nice to see that people are discovering The Vampire Diaries’s awesomeness! It keeps getting better and better each week!

Grey’s was not very good last night, but its ratings remained steady.

Parks and Recreation and Community were the funniest last night! Funnier than The Office, which is rare.

FlashForward is one of those shows I want to like. I cant stop watching because I want to like it so bad. Though I have to say that last nights episode improved some.

Ouch, Flash Forward. Seems to be the only show that was heavily affected by baseball (or perhaps it wasn’t baseball?). Grey’s held up really, really well in the 18-49 demo.

Poor CSI. Both Survivor and The Mentalist are ahead of it in the demo. I never thought I’d see the day where CSI would be CBS’s worst Thursday show.

Looks like FlashForward took the biggest hit from baseball. ABC is still pretty firmly behind the show though – they did extend the season to 25 episodes – and as long as it holds above a 2.5 it’s probably good enough.

Nice to see Community and Parks held at least steady. While a 2.1 certainly isn’t anything to brag about, they are half-hour comedies so the standards for success are lower, and it’s NBC so the standards are even lower. As long as they roughly hold those numbers and don’t sink I think they both may actually live to see next season.

Flash Forward is sub-3. Practice is sub-4. Grey’s still above 5.
Vampire Diaries actually did good flat-out in young women, and better than ABC/NBC in 18-49 relatively speaking.

Community, Parks & Recreation, Scrubs… All ratings losers and all shows that would be/were performing as least as well as 30 Rock in the post Office slot.
I know the critics and emmys love it but after 2 years of awards, endless promotion and press grabbing guest stars it is holding, what is a quite frankly poor 71% of the Office demo lead-in. Now I know its produced in-house so they want it to run for as long as possible but I still think NBC is crazy to be wasting its most (and arguably only) useful timeslot to launch a new hit.
Seriously, with the exception of the (completely uncomptaible “The Middle”, I can not think of a single camera comedy series on any network right now that would be holding any less of such a potent lead-in.

Jayy, I agree with you about Flashforward – I like it but in no way can it be compared to Lost. No other show comes close to being as inventive and continually mind boggling (literally) as Lost is!

Its fun to see the results of guest stars on shows. Even one time appearances. last night , Dominic on FF, didn’t work for me. The babble trying to convince me he is physicist, lol. We had Wesley from TNG on Big Bang , that was great ! Much better than what they did with Summer Glau last year! Hey theres the terminator ? or was it Summer Glau, she didn’t say Anything ! Next on BB, Starbuck is coming, Whoot. Dollhouse is pushing Summer (crazy as usual role) but it will flop like Dominic did for FF.

The CW really has their Thursday set!

Smallville would easily get 3.8-4.5 mil @ 9p but SPN would get like 2.0 mil on Friday, so it seems profitable to leave SV on Fridays, a VERY slow night. I think The CW will beat NBC next week at 8pm.
