For the people who say Three Rivers is one of the best medical dramas ever: Have YOU seen Grey's Anatomy or House or ER or Chicago Hope or St. Elsewhere or basically any other medical drama that was successful?

Why do you assume that the people who hate Three Rivers haven't seen it? Everyone who posted about actually hating Three Rivers (as opposed to just commenting on the low ratings) has said that they watched one or more episodes.

Wow - I have never seen people talk about and analyze a show so much while claiming that they hate it. If you are not watching Three Rivers, how do you know if it is a good show or not?

NBC had two very successful mini-series with 'V" (two parts) and "V: The Final Battle" (three parts). The series aired 19 episodes- it started off with so-so ratings (on Friday nights), but ended up averaging just a 12.8 rating for the season (back when millions of viewers was not the primary reported tidbit).

Actually for all the haters DH has been working the ratings back up and are now #11 for the current season i agree i cant wait for the plane crash to kill off old characters that are annoying aka orson and possibly katherine although i love her storyline this season idk what else they could do after this storyline is over and hopefully she wont fall into unbelievably boring like last season. This season has been great and the plane crash can serve as a way to reenergize the show if the right people die lol this is 100% better then the 5th season which I hated. It's dark like the 4th but the storylines are weaving better together like the 1st. and we arent gitting a borin applewhite/dave mystery either. This might be the BEST SEASON YET depending on how the storylines keep building. This ends my rany by the way cause this is a ratings sight lol. 14.2 Million in final #'s DH is coming back!!!!

Three Rivers is getting better and CBS will stick with it until January. I think that if the ratings go up a touch this month that they will order the rest of the season.

"Heigl is still on GA. I think who you mean is T.R. Knight."

Heigl is still on GA, but right now her character has been temporarily written off the show while she's off filming a movie or something.

Andrew, I agree , I Love Cold Case and it is one of my favorite shows. The Show has been on for 7 seasons and up to this season was actually always a Consistant Ratings Performer and was a Regular Top 20 Show For 6 Seasons. Last season the show finished at #18 in total viewers and while everyone in here including the two who run this board constantly said the show would be cancelled, I boldy predicted that the show would be renewed and I was right(I sadly do predict that this will be its final season).

I have never understood the animosity that alot of people in this chat room have for Cold Case But I also hope that they give this outstanding show the proper series finale that it deserves. Let Lilly Finally Get her man and let her find Happiness.
I will Miss this show and the great songs that each episode brought with it!

DH to me hasnt been good this season so I can understand why the show is sinking in the ratings. Keep in mind that the season finale of the first season drew over 30 million viewers and now they only average between 13-14 million and are in 16th place so far this season for total viewers(last season they were in 10th place). Maybe a plane crash will enable DH to clean house and get rid of alot characters that are way past their welcome(Katharine, Karl, Orson, the Gay Guys(they never did develop this couple), Susan(just kidding), Lynette's Unborn Twins(I hate this story line)) .

This is a show in DESPERATE need of a revamping, the ladies are beginning to show their age

I don't understand why CBS puts "Three Rivers" after "The Amazing Race". I watch TAR so after I watch such a fast-paced show the last thing I want to watch is a sappy medical drama. I switch to FOX for "Family Guy" & "American Dad" for some laughs!

Wow, that garbage Three Rivers is still on, can't believe that many people are still watching a show that's going to go on the list of worst shows ever.
I'm a 27 Male and i watched Desperate Housewives 1st.
During commericals i flipped between Fox Baseball (i'm a huge baseball fan) and National Treasure movie, which i've seen a few times already.

People are going crazy because Sunday is the most expensive night for advertisers, from the estimates of the article posted here recently.
Your bleeding money with no long term plan, except NCIS: Miami Trauma or CSI:Miami Trauma there midseason.

Great numbers for the World Series! :) I'm betting the Wednesday Night game will be about the same or maybe even higher.

And for the people claiming the WS numbers are bad (comparing it to a VERY uncommon football game) that's ridiculous. Aside from the Super Bowl, no other sport has done as good in recent years. (Maybe March Madness? I doubt it though)

You just can't say that the series would be better off with small market teams. It's like saying Fox is better off with brand new episodes of Dollhouse on Friday nights as opposed to, say, re-runs of House... :p

The Yankees are really an awesome team. I thought the Phillies might win, but the talent is unspeakable on this NY team. We are seeiung the two best teams of the past decade go at each other, and the numbers are proving it.

Remember that Murder She Wrote was successful in this timeslot for many years on CBS, so it's possible that Castle could end up performing decently in this timeslot as well.

I have thought that Castle might appeal to the DH and B&S audience. They could probably move AFV to another night, and move the "Home" show up, and put Castle before DH. It might would work. On the other hand, since Castle is making slow but sure progress on Monday, moving it might lose some viewers, if they watch other stuff on Sunday, like sports, etc.

FOX almost had half the viewers! Wow…

18-49 Rating:
FOX: 52%
ABC: 23%
CBS: 15%
NBC: 10%

And FOX claims over half the adult rating. Good job FOX! And amazing for ABC for having almost a quarter!

This is interesting. Three Rivers has not done well, Ok. If CBS cancels it, or doesn't cancel it, what's the big deal? Many of you like to laugh when some people get outraged when a show they like is canceled, but now some of you seem to be getting outraged that Three Rivers is still on. Maybe CBS has decided to get it's money's worth out of the show, and not waste some other programming-at least right now-if it is only going to go up against two or three other monster ratings shows. If you know that your show is going up against other ratings monsters already, what do you do? Do you lower your expectations, at least temporarily? Do you keep on spending money on things that die when going up against that kind of competition? I know NBC has taken it on the chin about Leno, but maybe there is something to be said, in this current economic climate anyway, about not throwing good money after bad, as the saying goes. CBS is doing well as a whole, so perhaps they are just taking their time deciding what the best thing to do is concerning Sunday night in the future.

7pm Breakdown:
"FOX Football Overrun 11.2 30 30.57"
"ABC America’s Funniest Home Videos 1.6 4 6.46"

What are the odds of AFV moving to Wednesdays @ 8 in the winter? Considering the fact that it's NEVER promoted by ABC whatsoever, those are semi-decent numbers for going up against such a huge football game. Even American Idol doesn't perform that well! I think AFV would pull at least a 1.8 demo going up against the Wednesday edition of Idol and over a 2 demo against Glee (if it moves to 8 in the Spring).

Besides, I think Castle would do well on Sundays @ 8 after Extreme Makeover: Home Edition in the spring. It's ratings have been very consistent this season, unlike Samantha Who? last fall. Castle doesn't need the big DWTS lead-in, while SW? desperately needed it and proved it would fail otherwise.

Amazing Race did well given the weak Sunday line up of CBS over all. FOX will win November sweeps if CBS don't fix their Sunday 9-11 slots anytime soon.

ABC's performance was great too.

I like 3R but if it were to be cancelled it would not be the end of the world. I expected more from this show. This is my question.....the ratings are pretty much the same as the Friday night ratings. Why are they acceptable on Friday but not on Sunday?

Just as i predicted earlier this season, the "Grey's Anatomy"/"Desperate Housewives" gap will minimize and it has. This week "Housewives" beats GA in total viewers, and is only a tick behind in the Demos. I predict "Grey's" will continue to sink with the absense of Heigl, while Housewives will continue to increase with the upcoming stunts their pulling (plane crash).

We do love Desperate H. too.
"And I think this season the writers are doing a great job with the show.
Amyvil , that Organ donation excuse is getting old . I think Organ Donation is a great cause , but I am tired of reading about it each time Three Rivers gets worse ratings each week.
I think CBS only cares about ratings. And they put Alex in Three Rivers , thinking woman would dump DH because of Alex and Moonlight , not because they cared about Donate Life. But it is not working that way , and i am glad because DH is a great show , and remember that it is against sports too , but still getting great numbers"

I agree with you Lucia. I get tired of hearing these excuses as to why it is doing poorly. The show is bad, it's bringing down CC's numbers as well which was already teetering on the edge. All that matters is the advertisers/ratings. I am baffled as to why it is still around at this point.

To Theoacme:
FOX protected week 12 bears/vikings so that game cant get flexed to SNF.
Every other 1:00/4:05/4:15 vikings game is eligible for flex.
Of course a team can only appear in primetime 6 times.

housewives, so far, this season has been great. the plots so far are progressing much better than last season, or even any of the past 3-4 seasons. which had really lame plots... any of the past new neighbor plot lines have been really predictable and too over the top.

the applebottoms were an example of this, katherines introductory season has a lame ending, predictable plot. Topped out by last season with dave moving in, which was a horrible plot.

I love the dynamics going on with the new neighbors not so much wracking up personal drama but facilitating drama between the neighbors.

Favre uber alles, 2-0...

...here are the other possible dates, as of now, where Brett Favre can affect prime time ratings (not will, but might - given the schedule, I'd say less than a 5 percent chance):

Dec 6 - Sunday, 4:15 - at Arizona
Dec 20 - Sunday, 8:20 - at Carolina
Dec 28 - Monday, 8:30 - at Chicago

Of course, NBC may flex out of the Vikings - Carolina game, and FOX or CBS may move another 1:00 game to 4:15 - I don't think NBC will be allowed to flex in another Vikings game by FOX or CBS.

If Carolina is going for a playoff spot, and the Vikings are also going for home fiels, this game will be more likely to be a 800 pound gorilla than I predicted above.

Desperate Housewives is one of the shows that our whole family cuddles up in the living to watch every sunday. Our other family shows are Melrose Place, Eastwick, Grey's Anatomy, Modern Family, Cougar Town, Private Practice, Brothers and Sisters, Community, and Sons of Anarchy.

Amyvil, why do you think CBS is so committed to Donate Life when Alex O'Loughlin has said that he was the one who approached Donate Life about the partnership with Three Rivers and made that partnership one of the conditions for him doing the show? CBS is only committed to Donate Life in so far as they want to keep their star happy.

What is with all of the hate towards Cold Case?

Granted, I'm not a regular viewer, but I love watching it late at night on TNT.

What they need to do is move CC back one hour. It's been on for 7 years, it's basically a procedural. it would be a better lead-in to TR, which I saw for the first time last night...BORING.

What about moving CC to TAR's slot, and moving TAR up, followed by TR?

I'd hate to see CC get cancelled without a proper Series Finale. It's a great show.

One issue which has not been discussed here, and which of course is not quantifiable in terms of ratings, is CBS's partnership with Donate Life America, an organization which seeks to raise organ donation awareness. I believe CBS is firmly committed to this partnership and created and continues to support Three Rivers in order to shine a positive light on this area of medicine. For this reason, as well as many others, I continue to remain cautiously optimistic about Three Rivers.

I have to agree with some of you guys baseball really needs a salary cap. I loved seeing Tampa Bay in the World Series last year, it was refreshing and unpredictable. These major markets getting in is boring. I haven't watched more than an hour of the games in this series as much as I love baseball.

Football is so damn unpredictable and you can have two medium sized markets in Milwaukee and Minnesota gather up 30 million viewers. Baseball should be doing the same for a series with the Brewers and Twins. Baseball used to be so unpredictable back in the day before the strike. I think more than ever people are growing tired of seeing the Yanks in the World Series, if there was a salary cap then the Yanks would be a lot more interesting to watch but until then no they won't be to.

John Themon, I'm not sure why you decided to defend Nicolas Cage, but I will say I made that comment before the chart was posted and saw it beat 3R and Cold Case. Football Night in America dragged down the ratings, where I presumed it was the opposite.

Sorry, I should have said that CBS pissed off Moonlight fans 17 months and 2 weeks ago to be acurate. =)

Some of what I said came from friends that work in programming at CBS, some was my own opinion, some came from TV Guide, some of it from blogs. So various places.

The only point I was trying to make was that "I think" that it will be January before anyone knows if CBS will stick with Three Rivers or not; that the weekly predictions here of it's demise might be premature.

Rennie's post gave me my first LOL of the day. If that were any funnier, it would be an episode of "Three Rivers." Yes, I'm sure CBS is picking up the Back 9 of "Three Rivers" as we speak. And they're sticking by "Three Rivers" to support their talent-free star. Just like they did with Simon Baker... whose show can actually hold its lead-in. (Never mind that transparent Ausiello blind item from last year that was clearly about Simon Baker and "The Mentalist" and, said to the effect, that CBS didn't want Baker to star in "The Mentalist" because of the failure of "Smith.")

Speaking of "Three Rivers," I liked how last night's episode started with a crime investigation scene. Nice try, guys, trying to make it look like another Bruckheimer procedural and trick the Crime Broadcasting System audience into not changing the channel on it. Nice try.

Baseball desperately needs a salary cap. It's just so dull to see big market teams when almost every year. It was refreshing to at least see a team like Tampa Bay in it. This year, it's two incredibly predictable teams, one of which is probably the most hated sports franchise of all sports (outside of its own market, of course).

John, we turned off the mobile theme earlier today because too many people "standard" browsers were seeing the mobile theme, but we'd like to use it. We will monitor the bugfixes and hope to turn it back on when it's updated and fixed.

The ratings come as no surprise to me. Big market teams in the World Series mean bigger ratings.

It will be real interesting tonight. Two relatively small market NFL teams going up against two large market baseball teams. If both games are competitive, I think MLB will get the better ratings.

Don't CBS prempted 9-11pm for Hallmark Movies and Jesse Stone during the year anyway? The Hallmark Movies have mixed success but the last Jesse Stone did 15m but the demos were ancient.

Dan has a point, CBS has midseason replacements already and it doesn't need to keep Three Rivers, they're not NBC or The CW.

Rennie - CBS is ready to air new Flashpoint. It would be 1 thing if they had ordered the new 13 episode third season but CBS still has 9 episodes ready to go and by the time their done airing, the new 13 episodes can premiere. With a 22 epsiode Flashpoint season as well as Miami Trauma and The Bridge, why is Three Rivers still around.

Well this is interesting. They are airing a Hallmark movie on Sunday November 29th from 9-11. So Three Rivers & Cold Case will be preempted. Hmm.
