Well they did double the number of best picture nominees, so it only makes sense that they had to double number of hosts too.

Whats your guess on how quickly they make that joke or a variation of it in the broadcast?

Now I rarely agree with the academy’s nominations, but they’re only going to stop “snubbing” big budget studio fare when big budget studio fare starts being good. The Dark Knight wasn’t that good(Iron Man was better and that didn’t deserve a nomination either). Pixar snubs have less to do with their blockbuster status than their animated status. Now if only the academy didn’t fall in love with every mediocre holocaust film(The Reader) or below average biopic(Benjamin Button). I also wish the academy respected comedies.

If my calculations are correct, omce again most, if not all of this years Blockbusters will get snubbed again in favor of some Obscure, Foreign-Made Movies, played in only a few select Theatres in NY and LA at years end, that will be nominated instead. If this is so, I’ll be watching other things come Oscar Night.

Why couldn’t Tina Fey host it? I also would have liked Conan. Steve is not that funny anymore, and Baldwin doesn’t strike me as Oscar host material.

Where was it that I read that the odds makers had Steve Martins chances of hosting very low? I thought the odds maker was giving Billy Crystal the edge…

I wonder what co-hosting does to the Vegas odds!

I find this show just too long for me and usually only watch bits and pieces of it while watching other stuff.

I do think that Steve Martin and Alex Baldwin could make a very funny team.
