V is alright, in my opinion it needs more originality through. An they need to sought out the hiatus.

Forgotten biggest problem is that it the same as every other cop show on TV, its premise is actually pretty original but the stories it producing are not. I be glad for it to cease.

The thing about hiatuses is that as more people rely on their DVRs to capture episodes so they don’t have to remember when the shows come on, the hiatuses aren’t going to stop as many people from coming back to the shows out of pure forgetfulness. However, I do find that sometimes if a show’s been off for a while, I’m not as anxious to get back to it and the episodes can languish on the DVR for a while before I get the bug to watch them. That said, I do usually catch up and then I’m glad I had my DVR set to catch them!

Maybe ABC will have production resume sooner than January? But then there’s the holidays at the end of December and all.

And, of course we should epect the ratings to drop- but even if it droppd to 10m (which it may not drop that much- that would be a 30% drop or so), that’s a heckuva lot better than what ABC was getting in that time slot.

Robert, I am not so sure that DWTSResults is guaranteed a cushy slot. Frankly, with how their ratings are trending, I certainly wouldn’t ruin Lost or MF’s ratings to save DWTSResults – especially since they aren’t even on in February, after all.

I think one problem with the Forgotten is Christian Slater as the Star. They should have had someone with more star power.

Robert – I completely forgot about Dancing with the Stars results which will begin airing 9 Tuesdays in March. Looks like Lost may have to air at 10pm (maybe wednesdays) and the Ted/Scrubs block will have to be shifted to wednesdays. V will still likely air Tuesdays at 8 but unless ABC wants to break up their 2 hour comedy block, Lost can’t air at 9 anywhere.

Could ABC be finally bringing in a new hit show to move them forward from the Desperate Housewives/Grey’s Anatomy/Lost era? I’m keeping my fingers crossed that this show does it for them. Even though DH and GA will be around for a few more years, ABC needs to prep their replacements from now or they’ll be in the whole even worse than NBC.

It’s interesting that V didn’t suck away that much of the audience for NCIS (at least viewers). Will be interesting to the Live + 7 for both shows. I still believe ABC would’ve been smarter to put V on Wed @ 8 where there is NO COMPETITION and build comedy night on Tuesday. DWTS could still air on Wed. (It’s clear, viewers don’t care as much for the results edition.) Additionally, DWTS wouldn’t compete with other reality (SYTYCD and BL). Of course, when Idol comes back you have that issue, but Spring schedules can be adjusted accordingly.

I wonder if Rahm Emanuel will arrange to have this show cancelled because it mocks the Obama administration? Universal Healthcare being offered by sinister lizard aliens was hilarious along with the head lizard telling the media interviewer not to ask any questions that puts THEM in a bad light.

Maybe Rahm will send the ABC’s programming head a dead fish?

Come March, the Dancing with the Stars results show will stay on Tuesdays and it will absolutely not air at 10pm and it will also absolutely not air against NCIS. That leaves 9pm Tuesday.

Forg – If ABC continues to promote it, hopefully the show will do fine. Its not like ABC has naything else big for 2010 besides the final season of Lost. Pair the two on Tuesdays (Lost beginning February, V in March) it could be a good combo. Lost encores could air at 8 in Feb until V returns then V could air at 8 and Lost at 9.

I live in Los Angeles and V seemed to get way more promotion than flashforward did. Radio ads especially. Plus every ABC show had tons of previews of it. I remember thinking why the hell was ABC doing a marketing blitz for it just to take it off 4 weeks later

Well, I think ABC should follow Fox’s lead and promote the hell out of V when its on hiatus but I don’t know how will they do this with “V” since at least with Glee, they have the music that helped them promote it. I’m sure ABC won’t allow “V” hiatus kill it, they will find a way to make the show’s return an event especially if the next three episodes the ratings would hold up

The plan is for V to come back after the Olympics. If ABC handles the hiatus correctly it shouldn’t hurt it too bad. I look at it like this, these 4 episodes are a series preview, and the season will start in 2010. That scenario worked well for Glee, but they always promoted that as a preview, so it’s not exactly an apples to apples comparison.

CW didnt care about TBL because it did badly after the high rated ANTM but Melrose was expected by CW to do better. Hopefully Melrose does do better, but its not likely to. Only Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, 90210, ANTM, Vampire Diaries and Supernatural are in my opinion definites to return in 2010-2011. Smallville could return and Melrose Place probably wont.

Melrose wont be pulled. It will air all 18 episodes. CW even returned MRC produced Valentine and Easy Money to the summer after both bombed. Melrose will stay on the air as long as CW wants to save it. CW could have cared less about Privileged but they already had 2 failing sunday dramas so besides 90210 they needed another drama to stick around until Feb. CW wants Melrose to succeed due to it being part of their 90210 franchise remake.

I honestly wonder what numbers the CW expects Locklear to bring. And furthermore, what numbers would actually grant the show a full season or even a second season.

Watch the show tick up to only about 1.60 (if they are lucky) post-Locklear and perhaps a 1.5-6 in the female demo. That’s not quite enough.

I’d bet they don’t pull MP at all this season and will air all 18 episodes of it regardless of what happens with the ratings. Bill’s comparison to Privileged last year has been apt so far, and I expect that continues until the end barring a Locklear ratings miracle.

Rob, but even so, a 1.50 average in viewers (even if that remains for every episode from now on and has been like that for a month) is absolutely horrible.

I would give the show some kudos if the women’s demo was even close to a 2.0 but even that is bad for CW standards.

Nice that V did so well in its premiere, but I’ll be waiting to see how the rest of the episodes fare before I hop on the “New Hit!” bandwagon. Knight Rider’s pilot movie did quite well in the ratings but tanked fast (I have my opinions as to why, but you can draw your own conclusions) and didn’t merit a renewal.

To those who enjoyed V and continue to watch, my wish for you is that the ratings sustain (or improve if possible) and that the stories and characters continue to entertain and engage your imagination.

ABC took big risks this year and majority of them worked in their favor.

Jared, like someone else said, no one watches ABC during the summer. V was promoted the whole fall season plus its a spinoff of a show from the 80s.

abc took some big chances this season with 2 big scifi shows of V and Flashforward, 4 comedies (2 working well, 1 decent).

NBC should take note that if you produce shows people are interested in, ratings will come, not giving up.

Very impressed with V’s numbers and NCIS held steady and still 20 million viewers, just wow!

But big drop in the demo for DWTS 3.1 from V’s 5.2?

The Good Wife failed again to reach 3.0 2.7 is of course a good number and landslide winner but I’m just worried that if does not settle with 3.0, it won’t get a second season.

The Biggest Loser performed really well.

I hope V will stabilize in the 4 demo range.

Regarding promotion, V’s advantage was it premiered later so it was the only focus of ABC’s promotion unlike FlashForward which was also heavily promoted but along with the Wednesday sitcoms.

WOW, while V is obviously the winner and THE story of the night, it is worth mentioning that NCIS still managed to crack the 20 million viewership. This show is untouchable, I don’t even know why I am surprised, if American Idol can’t harm it, nothing else can.

Glad to see The Good Wife perform steadily. It’s total viewership is great, the demos should be great, too……on any other network. I hope CBS will keep it for a second season. It’s high quality.

Ouch, CW. Move Melrose Place behind Vampire Diaries already, otherwise you can just cancel it.

rob, seriously? V had no where near the promotion that FlashForward did. You couldn’t watch ABC or ESPN all summer without seeing stuff about FlashForward. Plus is was advertised in all Regal Theaters throughout most of the summer.
