On the other end, I have to say that, as much as I enjoy Cougar Town, those numbers have to be a bit alarming. If it can go above a 3.0 in the next airing, it should be okay. But the sad fact is I don’t think it will. The problem is that it’s just not a compatable show with Modern Family. In fact, it wouldn’t surprise me if ABC decided to pair it with the umteenth installment of The Bachelor in January. That probably won’t happen, but at any rate, here is what I think ABC should do come January:

10:00pm Another Bad Reality Show Compatable with Bachelor

Tuesdays

8:00pm V

10:00pm Primetime or 20/20 (nothing retains Lost’s audience, so why try in the last season….but you know they will somehow!)

8:00pm Ugly Betty (though I’ve never been a fan, it has an audience so for fuck’s sake, take it out of Fridays you idiots!!!!!!)
9:00pm Modern Family
9:30pm The Middle
10:00pm New Drama (Eastwick is a bomb, just admit it!!!!!)

Thursdays

Shockingly to people who have followed this network through the years, this is by far the strongest night, so leave it unchanged with FlashForwrd (surprisingly addictive), Grey’s Anatomy (best episodes since season 1) and Private Practice (ehh, but Greys watchers follow it).

Fridays

Supernanny, 20/20 and repeats of scripted shows.

Saturdays

ABC Saturday Movie

Unchanged. By the way, shockingly in my opinion, creatively DH is off to its best start since season 1, but that’s not sayin much. I’ve loved almost every season at the beginning, but it always seems to fall apar midway through (and honestly, i’m taking every season since the first). Here’s to hoping the curse is broken and this season plays out well, but given the history it probably won’t. Have to say, though, I love Drea de Matteo in the role given to her. Please kill off Katherine so she can enter the poker party, like now!!!!!!!

As for CBS, please do this:

Mondays, Tuesdays & Wednesdays

Keep As Is!!!!! Ratings are good, if not spectacular! No need to change, at least not yet.

Thursdays

Just switch CSI and The Mentalist. Please, CBS, don’t be NBC and cling on to the CSI franchise like NBC did with L&O and ER!!!! Let it go with dignity, please. 10 seasons is a hell of a run!!!!

Fridays

Being that ratings have taken a dive, keep the schedule unchanged then go with reality garbage next season.

Sundays

After 60 Minutes and Amazing Race, make some bold moves and throw a pair of new dramas here. No, not CSI: London please!

9:00pm Glee (not a huge fan of the show, but it has a strong following so Fox would be dumb to not give it an idol lead in)

Thursdays

Hold strong with Bones and Fringe. They are down, but compared to previous thursdays, they are way up. Let them grow because they are good enough to survive.

Who even cares? Just throw in the towel with reality crap and stop wasting money!

Saturdays

Unchanged. After 20 years of maintaining 2nd or 1st place, why even bother trying.

Unchanged. Demo strength of Animation Domination is just that!!!!

And to the pre-tune-in comment, some people actually (*gasp* *shock*) enjoy “The Middle” and look forward to it more than “Modern Family.”

“Cougar Town” needs a network intervention. A face lift, if you will. (No Christa Miller jokes, please.) I like the cast and I think they have some spark between them, but the juvenile writing, frenetic directing and the music — oh, gawd, that irritating music drowning out every single scene — makes it painful to watch. I think based on what they have, it could easily be retooled into a good show… but due to the egos involved, I doubt anyone will ever admit that there’s anything wrong with it.

I wish more people watched Eastwick, its way better now than its first couple of episodes.

That was the funniest episode of Modern Family last night!

The only way the World Series could possibly hit that 25-30 million mark is if the Cubs/Yankees took the series to a game 6 or 7. I don’t see the Cubs making it any time soon though :p

Cancel ‘Hank’—that show is just a derivative of every family in the 90s. Its is just as original as ‘Til Death’ is. I wonder how long before they do an episode where Hank buys a sport car to deal with with his midlife crisis.

Good numbers for ANTM. Ironically, just as that interview was released predicting the demise of the CW, it goes on the upswing. Ratings across the board have been strong in the past week, with the exception of Tuesday. If the CW can get something working on Tuesday and figure out a post-ANTM game plan, it’ll have a pretty solid line-up.

I’ve been catching the last 10 minutes of The Middle for the past few weeks now, and last night finally put it on my DVR. It is a cute, clever and funny show. I think ABC should stick with it to let it build an audience…perhaps a few airings after MF might help it out?
