mentalist beating CSI. finally!
Ouch. I’m really going to miss Fringe next season.
Is that one of community’s best performances at the 9pm slot? If they keep growing steadily like that they should be able to pick up a renewal. P&R I don’t think it has a chance for pickup. I know Allison Silverman (formerly of Colbert Report, Late Nigh w/Conan, and Daily Show) has a blind script deal with Lourne Michaels. Perhaps whatever she comes up is slated to take over for P&R.
*correction: 8pm slot.
it was Community’s best performance since moving to 8pm.
It looks like The Office and 30 Rock skew incredibly young. The percentage of the demo viewers compared to the total viewers is even bigger that with the Fox cartoons. But the toons will probably have many teenage fans. But still, very impressive.
does anyone have half hour or quarter hour results for any of the CBS shows?
Yay for The Mentalist – read it and weep CSI and Private Practice!!
go bones, now beat FF in the demos next week
Congrats to The Office for (again) being the least down year-over-year among the Three 9pm Titans:
5.1 (-15.0%) Grey’s Anatomy
4.1 (-4.7%) The Office
3.5 (-31.4%) CSI
Also, save for the first 3 episodes of the show, last night was a high (in addition to outright season-high) for Parks And Recreation.
Also of note is a stabilizing trend with 30 Rock, when looking at episode numbers this year vs last:
Episode 1 of season: 4.1 vs 3.0 (-26.8%)
Episode 2 of season: 3.9 vs 3.3 (-15.4%)
Episode 3 of season: 3.6 vs 3.1 (-13.9%)
Episode 4 of season: 3.4 vs 3.0 (-11.8%)
While a slide of over 11 percent is certainly not great, it beats a drop of 26.8 any day.
To those that think Community would do better than 30 Rock post-Office… I’m not so sure. Community hit sub-3s both weeks after its much-inflated premiere. 30 Rock has yet to drop below the 3.0 threshold.
So glad Community and Parks & Rec didn’t drop, good for Office staying over a 4.
VD still beats Fringe, and in its target demo vs. others’ beats FF, 4/5 NBC shows, and Bones.
So Grey’s still behind V?
CSI bottom of the admittedly close heap on CBS.
30 Rock 3!
Frightening numbers for Fringe. FlashForward is down to Heroes season 4 numbers. I don’t think they can survive this season if they don’t get a boost from a big lead in. Better sooner than later.
Fringe behind AI should be a no-brainer. FF behind Lost.
Let’s hope for ABC that V doesn’t drop like FF and proves itself strong enough for self starting.
Everyone recalls that The Mentalist beat CSI last week, too, right?
Good to see 30 Rock remains 3.0+. Hopefully it sticks with that all season.
Who would have thought at the beginning of this week that ‘V’ would end up over-taking ‘Grey’s’ as the best performing ABC series?
Neil,
I would never have thought V had a chance at beating Grey’s.
However, I’m quite sure it will be a one time event.
I’m confused as to how “Community” has a 5.641 in the other chart, and a 5.450 here. Is that an error?
Julia, I need your help again, haha.
Wow at the Mentalist! This is the first time it beat Private Practice right?
Glad to see 30 Rock climb to the safe zone
The Other James, every morning around 9 am PST, the ratings posted here are the preliminary fast national ratings. Those are always subject to change, and it’s very rare that they stay completely the same, at least in viewers, when it comes time to post the finals.
Around 2 pm PST, Travis Yanan posts the final numbers (which are the more accurate numbers) at PIFeedback, which he links on his Twitter. Robert usually reposts them here, but not always, so if you ever miss them, check with Travis’s Twitter, which is linked at the top.
Note: Fridays’ and Sundays’ numbers don’t come in on the same timeline as Monday through Thursday. Friday’s final numbers show up on Monday afternoon, when you would normally expect Sunday’s numbers to show up. Sunday shows up on Tuesday morning. Then it gets back to the normal schedule.
If you regularly update the ratings on a few different show pages, I would suggest checking to see if this season’s ratings are linked to the fast nationals or the finals. It’s still early enough that it shouldn’t be too much work to update them, and if you need help finding the references let me know and I’ll drop you an email.
That would actually be great, Julia. The shows I’d be working on would primarily be the following 6 comedies:
Community
30 Rock
The Office
Parks and Recreation
The Middle
Modern Family
And some pay (sans one) cable shows, such as:
Dexter
Mad Men
Bored to Death
Sons of Anarchy
I’m trying to bookmark all of the Travis posts for these shows, in order to have the pages’ ratings be more consistent with one another. Some of them are linked to the fast #s, mostly because in many instances, they are higher. (I’m assuming editors want the shows to be seen more optimistically.) But it’s a bitch to locate some of the TVbtN articles.

So, does this mean that even though “Community”‘s numbers are 0.2 lower than the fast numbers indicate, it still bodes well and is a sign of growth? Just wondering how the fast numbers can interpret it to be a higher number of people.
