V 2009

A big November Sweeps week was dominated by sports, with the Cowboys-Eagles game on Sunday Night Football being the most watched airing with adults 18-49, and game 6 of the World Series being the most-watched airing overall.

Meanwhile, V topped Grey's Anatomy both with adults 18-49 and total viewers and with the return of a new episode, NCIS cleared the 20 million overall viewer mark yet again.

Weekly cable show ratings and overnight broadcast show ratings are also available.

  1. And this is why when the show returns in March (or whenever), it will return to this timeslot. ABC won’t mess with the slot. They’ll mess with the production, however.

  2. Interesting how V was the most watched regularly scheduled as well as scripted series on TV last week in Adults 18-49. Not bad for a 4 week and you’re gone series (who returns 4 months later ;) ).

  3. Smallville

yay castle made it in the top 25 :)

  4. Cullen

How interesting, take out sports and every show on the top 25 viewing list is from either CBS or ABC.

  5. steven

It looks like ABC and CBS dominates the Top 25 every week! Will it be similar if the chart branched out to Top 40?

  6. romo

    To cullen:
    not 18-49.

  7. Cullen

I was referring to the overall viewing list

Just thought it was interesting that Fox is first in the demo for the fall but can’t even get one show on the overall list.

  8. OpeningDayGuy09

I always look at the overall list first b/c the 18-49 only matters to those advertising out there in real-life and network officials looking to see how much money they got. Doesn’t mean a damn thing to me unless I’m looking for what’s going to cancelled hanging between 5-10 million viewers.

In the overalls, CSI: and The Mentalist look to have gone way up in finals. Should be interesting if Castle makes the TOP 20 next week.

  9. forg

Great to see Modern Family, The Amazing, Race and HIMYM in the top 25 of 18-49.

  10. R.G

Looks like CBS and ABC are the two most watched channels this year. Like always…

  11. Gleebo

Flash Forwards already fell below Castle. Not a good sign. I love the show but the future seems to be pretty obvious the way its trending.

Where did Modern Family rank in total overall viewers? Only see it on the demo at #23.

  12. bob

So wait, ABC is only airing 4 episodes of V, and then shelving it til march? well, if that was thier original plan, i dont think that will b the plan anymore.

V is lookin good, and I predict it doesnt drop too much for episode 2, so theres no way ABC can only give it 4 episodes

  13. Matthew

CBS & ABC are the juggernauts in the Network TV Arena. NBC is absolutely grasping for whatever they can get. I think they made a BIG mistake by cancelling American Gladiators. I wasn’t a huge fan, but people were starting to get into again. They based the cancellation on it performance during the summer of 2008. Who the hell would trust summer number? If you look at their ratings during the normal viewing season, they had numbers that rivaled Biggest Loser. Now this whole Jay Leno thing. CANCEL CANCEL CANCEL and get some comedy, drama, or reality that isn’t poorly written or uninteresting!

  14. tom

With all the hoopla last week about V’s big numbers, I thought it was dissapointing that it was only #12 in the overall ratings, of course take out the ballgames and it would be in the top 10. Nice to see Castle in the top 25 and the good wife in the top 20

  15. Rob

Anyone have a link to the ratings for all tv programs, not just the top 25. I wanted to see where some of my favorite shows rank.

  16. jay

Tore out and saved USA Today critic Bianchi’s double-barreled shot last week telling us all the ABC Wedensday lineuip ( sans Hank, of course ) is the new trend for TV and far greater than any thing seen on TV since, well, ABC’s DH and GA debuts in 2004-5. Even when he’s right, he’s right for the wrong reasons. Since I’m not yet a complete letter-writing crackpot I doubt I ever write Mr Bianchi a letter documenting his manifold sins and errors of taste … but surely all must notice not one of the ” Hot New ” ABC comedies is even in the 18-49 Top Twenty? That they are a good point at least in that category below CBS’ Monday night comedies ( which actually aren’t much better than ABC’s comedies, in my opinion.)

  17. tom

I wish there was a ratings chart that also had all the ratings. I tend not to watch the popular trendy shows that usually make the Top 25

  18. Cody

Flash Foward needs the wedensday at 10 slot it is getting slaughtered on thursday.

  19. Hi everybody !
I’m very happy to see the return of Broadcast Top 25 !!
But why don’t you publish the Top by Broadcast (Top ABC, Top CBS, …) as in 2008-09 season ? (Or an integral Top of Broadcast ?).
Congratulations for your excellent website !

  20. Guilhaume, we have certain, relatively new, restrictions placed on us by Nielsen which limit some of the data we used to post.
