FOX PUTS CHILD PRODIGIES TO THE TEST WITH “OUR LITTLE GENIUS”

New Game Show from Mark Burnett Gives Genius Children The Chance to Celebrate

Their Brilliance and Win Life-Changing Money for Their Families

From the producers of “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?,” FOX has picked up OUR LITTLE GENIUS, the new game show that gives real child geniuses a chance to put their incredible knowledge to the test and win life-changing money for their families.

Think your child is gifted? What does he or she know about astronomy? Can he or she name four major arms of the Milky Way Galaxy? How about five Neptune Trojan Asteroids? Sound impossible? Not for these kids! Extraordinary child geniuses ranging in age from 6 to 12 years old will be challenged to prove they know all there is to know about their area of expertise.

“In television, we often showcase kids who are incredible singers, actors or dancers, so it’s high time we give the spotlight to kids with incredible brains,” said Mike Darnell, President of Alternative Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company. “The kids on this show are ridiculously smart, and with its unique appeal to both parents and children alike, I think OUR LITTLE GENIUS is one of Mark Burnett’s most compelling creations yet.”

“I am completely astounded by the level of knowledge I have seen from these genius kids,” said Mark Burnett, Executive Producer, OUR LITTLE GENIUS. “It is truly astonishing to watch adult experts in the same field of knowledge shaking their heads in disbelief at the level of brainpower these young children have. Genius kids often get ridiculed for their brilliance. Finally, here’s a show that celebrates their true talents.”

To play, little geniuses must answer increasingly difficult questions as they work their way up to win their family hundreds of thousands of dollars. However, there is one catch: the little genius’ parents can stop the game at any time and choose to walk away with the winnings for their family. To help them make informed decisions during the game, these moms and dads of average intelligence may check in with a panel of leading adult experts – ranging from Ivy League professors to renowned doctors to award-winning scientists – to see how they performed when answering the same questions.

Will the parents stop their little geniuses from playing the game at the right time, or will they continue to risk the winnings for their family? If parents decide to pull their child from the hot seat before a particular question, the little genius still has the chance to prove his or her brilliance and answer the question to determine if the parents made the right decision.

The host of OUR LITTLE GENIUS will be announced soon.

To learn how your little genius and family can be considered as possible contestants on OUR LITTLE GENIUS, send your inquiries to ourlittlegenius@yahoo.com.

OUR LITTLE GENIUS is produced by Mark Burnett in association with ZOO Productions. Mark Burnett, Barry Poznick and John Stevens serve as executive producers.

“Think your child is gifted? What does he or she know about astronomy? Can he or she name four major arms of the Milky Way Galaxy? How about five Neptune Trojan Asteroids?”

Any kid who can rattle off the provisional designations of five of the Neptune “trojans” needs a better hobby.

  2. AZTop

Oh my! This is a concept ripe for exploitation of children.

  3. another pointless reality show for fox, this means a good scripted show will soon be cancelled, id say fox just needs its own reality channel but it has one, so why not put this crap on there?

and Boris is right, they just need a hobby

  4. Joseph

Now when parents aren’t pondering plastic surgery for their 5-year-olds as they put them through pageant hell, they’ll be drilling them with textbooks to get them to make some money on this show.

  5. Bryan

Truth be told, I’d rather watch this than Dollhouse. Sorry, Joss.

  6. Can he or she name four major arms of the Milky Way Galaxy? How about five Neptune Trojan Asteroids? Sound impossible?

    No, memorizing trivia isn’t impossible.

“In television, we often showcase kids who are incredible singers, actors or dancers, so it’s high time we give the spotlight to kids with incredible brains”

Thrill as they sit there and try to remember things!

However, there is one catch: the little genius’ parents can stop the game at any time and choose to walk away with the winnings for their family.

So, they’re not spotlighting brains, but exploiting manufactured tension within a family.

Where will this series air on FOX’s already packed midseason sched.

  8. Remembering facts is NOT a sign of genius. Idiot savants can do that. Genius is seeing what others don’t see. Einstein didn’t just know a lot about physics but saw what other physicists didn’t see. Frank Lloyd Wright took architecture in a new direction. Thomas Edison created what didn’t exist before. Benjamin Franklin was … was beyond genius. Read a biography about what Old Ben did in his lifetime and you’d be amazed.

Show me an straight A student and, odds are, I’ll show you merely a human tape recorder with a good indexing system. Someone that can read tons of facts without growing bored and can regurgitate them on command. A trained pony.

The show should be called “Our Little Idiot Savant”.

A show for kids with aspergers…prodigious experts on exactly one thing.

  10. Riff Rafferty

I presume all the little geniuses will be African-American? You know, in keeping with the apparent FOX mandate for 2009 that “We must have more black people on our network.”

Are We Smarter Than a Fifth Grader 2, TV is getting too damn unoriginal for my taste.
