Melrose Place is a goner
how does adding an extra minute to any program help anything? I just think its annoying
Yeah, she’d have to boost W18-34 by more than 100% just to get to par with 90210. That’s probably more herculean than Heather Locklear-ean
Heather Locklear you’re Melrose Place’s only hope!! I’m very surprised that they have decided to switch out LuX on Monday when they’re most likely going to have big wholes on Tue and Wed at 9pm come mid-season – surely they can’t air a repeat after ANTM the WHOLE season!
ryan, it potentially gives you an extra minute of commercials in higher-rated shows and since the minute wound up being robbed from Robin Roberts rather than DWTS, it makes a whole lot of sense to me based on the ratings.
It doesn’t happen as much in US I don’t think, but in Aus, especially channel 10 here, they run their reality TV shows way over time, I remember back in the day, when Big Brother airred nightly from 7pm- 7:30pm, it would drive me up the shits because the best shows airred at 7:30, but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Big Brother just had to air until 7:45…. essentially, because of it’s popularity, they milked literally an extra 10 minutes of advert time, and it also garnered bigger ratings for it’s lead out, because by the time you finished watching Big Brother, a show on another channel had gone through ½ or ¼ of it’s run time and you didn’t have a clue of what was happening. For 15 minutes running over time it’s significant, but I hardly see anything less then 5 minutes as significant.
idk how you say the good wife is in danger. its over 13 million again. gonig nowhere
OMG Melrose Place hit a series low in viewers a week before Heather Locklear returns. Thats really not good. The show needs over 700,000 viewers, 1.8 women 18-34 demo, 1.0 18-49 demo to survive! Can she really do all that? Well I heard ratings Heather Locklear brought the ratings up 40% in the original Melrose Place.
Im praying for a miracle!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cant lose 2 shows.
good wife up again good to see it rasie yay
That 2.8 rating for The Good Wife is 88% of CBS’ current average 18-49 rating. That’s right on the border between life and death for next season.
hey at least it rose thats always good
Whoo I was only 1 tenth of a point away with my 3.9 guess for V. I just thought it would get just below great #’s (4).
I wonder how it will shake out with the Top New Show of the season competition. NCIS2 & Black Family Guy probably have the advantage. Modern Family & Glee likely will remain the top new original shows.
And the new show that should be the strongest vs. its network’s other shows: Vampire Diaries (1.38 in the index; I believe V this week is lower than that vs. ABC’s other shows, and after a few weeks the average 18-49 will trend down enough).
if a minute is taken away from a show then, wouldnt its ratings better since theres a minute less to average out the viewership?
ryan, the viewers that went with that minute get taken away too. So if the extra minute is for the higher rated show, then the lower rated show, which had those viewers counted initially has a chance of having its ratings adjusted down. It’s also possible for the show with the extra minute to go up, if the viewership at the end of the show was more than during the rest of the show.
At least V went up, i hope it will not drop below 3.5 in the next two weeks. The Good Wife up to 2.8 is okay but I hope it goes back to 3.0.
The good wife needs to get back to the 3.0 range ASAP! V needs to stay where it is now or it’s game over. It shouldnt go below 3.5!!
Good Wife improved its last week’s numbers, that’s always a good sign. It wins its slot in every possible way, if it stays above 12 million viewers and around 2,7-3 in 18-49, there is no way CBS would cancel it, even if it is only “88% of CBS’ current average 18-49 rating”. The plus-one episode order wouldn’t indicate it, either. They already have 3 to 5 goners (Numbers, Cold Case, Three Rivers, Gary Unmarried, New Adventures of Old Christine) and who knows what they will do to the other two seriously declining Friday shows – Good Wife is here to stay (and if CBS wants a safe day, they won’t even touch their winning Tuesday-trio).
Did NCIS go from a 4.0 to a 4.4? That is more than slightly.
it went from a 4.2 to a 4.4, Bill posted the half hourly data this morning and one of the half hours was 4.0, but it was a 4.2 for the hour in the preliminaries.
Ali as long as V stays in the 3′s it will be ok. Anything lower then 3.0 would be cause for concern. And if it drops below 2.8 it will be in trouble, but that’s also depending on how the rest of ABC’s lineup performs.
