There goes King’s credibility. He’ll be forced to play the opinion game, and it won’t be long before his bias is fully revealed.
If King hasn’t cracked under the pressure of a weekly, 4 hour show to reveal his bias (and numerous anchoring gigs in the past)…I doubt a 7pm weeknight spot will “force” him to do anything.
But you keep thinking that.
I don’t really like CNN, but I think John King is the best thing about CNN
Lou Dobbs was the only reason I ever watched CNN, now I will delete that channel, as I did HLN when Glenn Beck left, from my program guide. The left shoots itself in the foot, once again. Way to go, CNN! Shep Smith will get more viewers now.
Anonymous, King’s 4 hour show is a straight news report. He is now venturing into primetime opinion-based programming, where he will be forced to give his opinion.
Says who?
Are you Jon Klein? Why do you keep using the word “forced”? If you read the press release, the REASON they put King in the slot was so they could attempt to retain their “straight-news” coverage.
Do Wolf Blitzer, Larry King, Anderson Cooper, or Campbell Brown regularly give their opinion on the air – even though their competitors do so on a daily basis?
…didn’t think so.
Ah yes, opinions are bad, unless they match up to @Adam’s.
actually, i think there is a slight possibility that this could be bad news for shep…alot of people are begining to be turned off by his increasing arrogance.
John King is one of the most fair-minded on-air jornalists around. Overall, the CNN anchors are far less partisian than those on other cable news networks. CNN has some of the best reporters and greatest worldwide coverage in the business. They have a terrific infrastructure. Hopefully, they can figure out how to best use it and get sufficient ad revnues to support it.
John King is a great choice.
This gives me another news option at 7PM.
The people that like Dobbs, probably watch Fox news anyway. At least with King in that time slot you now have reasonable competition for the rest of the audience going up against a Hardball repeat on MSNBC.
Ratings will probably go up immediately.
>Do Wolf Blitzer, Larry King, Anderson Cooper, or Campbell Brown regularly give their opinion on the air –
Yes, yes, yes, and yes. Specifically, Cambpell Brown, who asked, live, on-air whether or not Sarah Palin could be a good mother and still run for VP barely 30 minutes after she was announced as the candidate.
CNN hosts do a fine job of disguising their bias as “news”, and apparently, you have fallen for it. I’m not some Fox News blowhard, but at least Fox is honest about its primetime slant. CNN isn’t.
CNN has a good newscaster in John King, and they will ruin him by throwing him into the opinion meat grinder, just like MSNBC has done with Chuck Todd.
LOL so you have ONE example of CNN ‘opinion’, between FOUR primetime anchors, over their multiple years on the air.
Great…you’ve clearly made your point
*bows down*
(and if you SERIOUSLY think John King is going to ruin his solid reputation and start giving his opinions, which no one cares about…you’re crazier Lou Dobbs)
What a great move! They can change the name to CMN: Cable Milquetoast News. That will get the ratings for sure. No wonder they’re beating CNBC! I’m sure King will cream CSPAN as well. Maybe.
Why are you people sooooooooo mean on the blogs. The man has barely had time to get his throat cleared from making the announcement. Its a huge opportunity for him in his professional career. Just say good luck and keep an open mind.
Mr King can host a news report, like Shep does.
Thank you J.R.
Opinions dont necessarily make a news station biased…..its the NON reporting of key, concrete facts that make a news station biased…..and the angle they take on a certain story.
i would LOVE to hear CNN anchors views on ACORN, Obama ties to socialist radicals, the high unemployment #’s, the over tripled deficit, (and only growing larger with each passing day) taxes rising, the value of the dollar decreasing, the administration attempt to hijack healthcare, (and the rest of US economy), the failed bailouts, all the socialist radical czars, etc etc etc…..
Wolf Blitzer has given an opinion of things on his show at times. In fact, earlier this week, he had an opinion on w3hat pot smells like:

Here’s my question: Now who replaces John King on Sunday mornings? I thought he did a respectable job. So who replaces him on “State”? Suzanna Malveaux? Dana Bash (a.k.a. Mrs. John King)? D.L. Hughley?
@cat7722
It sounds like you already found a place to listen to that type of Right Wing propaganda. You don’t need CNN.
King is a good choice, but time will tell how his show progresses and how many “freedoms” management allow him to have. He for sure would pounce all over Matthews in the ratings. As for his Sunday show, he’ll probably still be doing it, why wouldn’t he?
Like I said, his success will be dependent on how much “leeway” the corporate fools give him. If they place a “choker” around his neck and keep the reigns pulled in tight, then (in the overall sense) his show will fail.
