I never said liberals don't think the center as right, because liberals do see the center as right.

The fault you made is you think most Independents are centrists, they are not. Most Independents are actually right leaning or conservative. A lot of people stopped calling themselves republicans recently, they may have all turned into Independents but they are mostly still conservative.

If you are a conservative of course CNN looks liberal, the center is to your left.

If you are a liberal, you can't see that center is center because it is to your right. Works both ways.

Leave this for the Independents to decide. Which, of course, Fox News has the biggest Independent audience in cable news. But, we don't talk about that.....

On topic, I think John King is THE reason CNN didn't have too much problem releasing Lou Dobbs from his contract. Some think John King is the best CNN has, and why not put him in the prime time slot? Probably good strategy.

Still don't think he is going to get the ratings Fox News has in that time slot. Shep fills that timeslot there, and he is noteably a Democrat voice over there with good ratings. Shep does a great job covering live news coverage and great interviews. John King is only known as the weekend news at CNN. He has his work cut out for him switching to primetime. But best of luck.

Says who?
Are you Jon Klein? Why do you keep using the word “forced”? If you read the press release, the REASON they put King in the slot was so they could attempt to retain their “straight-news” coverage.

Do Wolf Blitzer, Larry King, Anderson Cooper, or Campbell Brown regularly give their opinion on the air – even though their competitors do so on a daily basis?

…didn’t think so.

I would say YES to all. Anderson Cooper being the worst culprate of them all. Campbell Brown more so lately. LKL creeps it in there, and its a shame because Larry is known for just asking the questions. But before Joy Behar got her show on HLN she was a frequent guest and sub host for Larry. Plus, Larry has had on Bill Maher more times than I count as a guest. When was the last time a conservative guest has had so much air time on LKL?

Boy, after reading all this, its no wonder all our news is slanted. I miss Walter Kronkite. Why can’t we get real news thats unbiased? Yes CNN was biased toward Obama terribly and Fox is right wing. Everyone should watch Fox, CNN, NBC, and read and watch other avenues of news. And decide for ourselves. Don’t just accept one opinion.

Addition to above comment...

Swap Campbell and John for it to work. Campbell just isn't that great of a news host. She tries to be everybody's friend, spoonfeeding stories and takes 1 minute to state a four-word question to a pundit. John does his homework and backs up his questions with...Numbers!

Didn't watch CNN today and their website still has Dobbs at 7 ET, but they can probably just run "Situation Room" for another hour or put a "CNN Newsroom" from 7-8.

As for all the other comments, news is not meant to be entertaining. It is news. When you make it entertaining, it is not news but rather entertainment.

CNN is the worst kind of news because it says it is nonbiased, when in fact, almost all of it has a liberal slant.
John King is boring to listen to. Stereotypical news anchor looks and pedestrian personality.

King is a good choice, but time will tell how his show progresses and how many "freedoms" management allow him to have. He for sure would pounce all over Matthews in the ratings. As for his Sunday show, he'll probably still be doing it, why wouldn't he?

Like I said, his success will be dependent on how much "leeway" the corporate fools give him. If they place a "choker" around his neck and keep the reigns pulled in tight, then (in the overall sense) his show will fail.

Wolf Blitzer has given an opinion of things on his show at times. In fact, earlier this week, he had an opinion on w3hat pot smells like:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w8QWGUDSfeg&videos=A6RQs-4jgAU

Here's my question: Now who replaces John King on Sunday mornings? I thought he did a respectable job. So who replaces him on "State"? Suzanna Malveaux? Dana Bash (a.k.a. Mrs. John King)? D.L. Hughley?

Opinions dont necessarily make a news station biased.....its the NON reporting of key, concrete facts that make a news station biased.....and the angle they take on a certain story.

i would LOVE to hear CNN anchors views on ACORN, Obama ties to socialist radicals, the high unemployment #'s, the over tripled deficit, (and only growing larger with each passing day) taxes rising, the value of the dollar decreasing, the administration attempt to hijack healthcare, (and the rest of US economy), the failed bailouts, all the socialist radical czars, etc etc etc.....

Why are you people sooooooooo mean on the blogs. The man has barely had time to get his throat cleared from making the announcement. Its a huge opportunity for him in his professional career. Just say good luck and keep an open mind.

What a great move! They can change the name to CMN: Cable Milquetoast News. That will get the ratings for sure. No wonder they're beating CNBC! I'm sure King will cream CSPAN as well. Maybe.

LOL so you have ONE example of CNN 'opinion', between FOUR primetime anchors, over their multiple years on the air.

Great...you've clearly made your point

*bows down*

(and if you SERIOUSLY think John King is going to ruin his solid reputation and start giving his opinions, which no one cares about...you're crazier Lou Dobbs)

>Do Wolf Blitzer, Larry King, Anderson Cooper, or Campbell Brown regularly give their opinion on the air –

Yes, yes, yes, and yes. Specifically, Cambpell Brown, who asked, live, on-air whether or not Sarah Palin could be a good mother and still run for VP barely 30 minutes after she was announced as the candidate.

CNN hosts do a fine job of disguising their bias as "news", and apparently, you have fallen for it. I'm not some Fox News blowhard, but at least Fox is honest about its primetime slant. CNN isn't.

CNN has a good newscaster in John King, and they will ruin him by throwing him into the opinion meat grinder, just like MSNBC has done with Chuck Todd.

John King is a great choice.

This gives me another news option at 7PM.

The people that like Dobbs, probably watch Fox news anyway. At least with King in that time slot you now have reasonable competition for the rest of the audience going up against a Hardball repeat on MSNBC.

Ratings will probably go up immediately.

John King is one of the most fair-minded on-air jornalists around. Overall, the CNN anchors are far less partisian than those on other cable news networks. CNN has some of the best reporters and greatest worldwide coverage in the business. They have a terrific infrastructure. Hopefully, they can figure out how to best use it and get sufficient ad revnues to support it.

Says who?
Are you Jon Klein? Why do you keep using the word "forced"? If you read the press release, the REASON they put King in the slot was so they could attempt to retain their "straight-news" coverage.

Do Wolf Blitzer, Larry King, Anderson Cooper, or Campbell Brown regularly give their opinion on the air - even though their competitors do so on a daily basis?

...didn't think so.

Anonymous, King's 4 hour show is a straight news report. He is now venturing into primetime opinion-based programming, where he will be forced to give his opinion.

Lou Dobbs was the only reason I ever watched CNN, now I will delete that channel, as I did HLN when Glenn Beck left, from my program guide. The left shoots itself in the foot, once again. Way to go, CNN! Shep Smith will get more viewers now.

If King hasn't cracked under the pressure of a weekly, 4 hour show to reveal his bias (and numerous anchoring gigs in the past)...I doubt a 7pm weeknight spot will "force" him to do anything.

But you keep thinking that.

There goes King's credibility. He'll be forced to play the opinion game, and it won't be long before his bias is fully revealed.
