In late-night metered-market households Saturday night:
- Saturday Night Live, hosted by January Jones and featuring musical guest Black Eyed Peas (4.7/12 in metered-market households) dominated its time period.
- Saturday Night Live delivered the #1 rating of the night in the metered markets, topping all primetime telecasts on all major networks. In fact, SNL outscored every Saturday primetime non-sports telecast on every major network over the past five months (since June 6).
Well….the Black Eyed Peas were good….
I just hated all the skits set in the ’50s. Just because she’s on Mad Men doesn’t mean she can’t act in the now.
Actually, I think maybe it does…
She can’t act in the then or the now. She’s the Drea De Matteo of Mad Men – good-looking girl with no chops who lucked into an acclaimed show.
so it’s NOT just me—–I thought JJ was pretty bad, kinda nervous and not funny.
She’s HOT but should stick with Mad Men.
January Jones was horrible. One of the worst hosting jobs on SNL in a long time (probably since Ellen Page).

The first ten minutes of SNL were painful to watch so I watched something I had recorded earlier in the week. Miss Jones looked so so uncomfortable in her monologue. She probably needs more live experience. Not her fault really.
The writing is so uneven so far this season and the cast just isn’t as strong as it was They really need a strong host to make it work.
What a surprisingly terrible episode of SNL. I was already a little grossed out by the Black Eyed Peas over playing their already overplayed songs and thought “hey, maybe January will make this a good episode…” It was like she didn’t realize that it was THIS Saturday night… awful.

What does SNL average? (I know last week’s Taylor Swift ep got a 6.8.)
And bad writing or no, January Jones was a trainwreck. She couldn’t even read a freaking cue card. Paris Hilton did a better job, and she sucked, too.
I think the Fergie and Josh Duhamel scandal boosted the ratings more then anything. It’s amazing what a good scandal can do for ratings these days.
tc, I don’t keep that close track on SNL ratings, but I think that 4.7 HH rating is fairly typical for this season. You can search “Saturday Night Live” in the search box and see what we have.
tc: I’m not sure of SNL’s average viewer number. the 6.8 you refer to was 6.8 million viewers, not household rating. The metered market Household rating for the Taylor Swift episode was a 5.0 (both it, and the 6.8 million were season highs). But just based on metered market #s, the J.J. episode was only down 6%. For most of the season, other than the Taylor Swift episode, SNL has been averaging around a 4.6-4.8 household rating (percentage of the households viewing) in Nielsen’s 56 largest metered markets.
Jason Sudeikis’ line in the “Cloud Watching” five to one sketch pretty much summed up her hosting ability: “You’re really pretty”.
I’m so glad others feel the same about JJ’s acting. That was a key reason why I didn’t even bother to add this week’s to my DVR. She plays the 50s stepford wife really, really well.
Didn’t they only annuonced that she was hosting last week? Seems very last minute. Maby that’s why it didn’t work out so well?
