Legend of the Seeker

The season two premiere of Legend of the Seeker averaged 2.583 million viewers the weekend of November 7-8 with a 1.7 household rating.   By household rating it was ranked tied for 45th out of 129 syndicated shows measured for the week.

The 2.583 million was the average audience, but you might wind up seeing the number 3.528 million thrown around, too.  That's the gross average audience for the premiere.  Gross average audience is a metric commonly used in syndicated ratings where viewing of repeat broadcasts during the measured period *is* counted. But for apples-to-apples purposes of comparing to other shows you should use the 2.583 million number.

  1. Does this mean Nielsen is up and running again? Please?

  2. perhaps, but perhaps not. so far the only places the logjam has broken is for reports that didn’t include any data for 11/15 (Sunday on). All the weekly reports that include Sunday 11/15 are still not available yet as of this writing.

  3. I’m told that there’s no word from Nielsen on an LPM level yet. So I’m thinking we won’t see anything today. :(

  4. wait, now the broadcast network average #s through 11/15 are available! looks like the logjam is breaking…

Marc Berman posted the overnight metered market HH share (excluding West Coast markets) for last night’s shows so maybe there is hope for seeing some numbers today after all.

Yeah I hated dealing with both sets of numbers when I was tracking TNG, DS9, Xena, Hercules, and then when VOY started on UPN, but also aired in syndication in the markets that UPN didn’t cover (I really hated that).

  7. Vamp Mom

Robert, this that a good number for a syndicated show like this?

  8. Travis Yanan is tweeting Melrose Place ratings! We will have numbers! YAY!

  9. I need to get my Sharpie. :P

  10. I’ve been so desperate for info, that I’m glomming onto whatever I get! Melrose Place went up a whole lot from last week… If by a whole lot you mean almost nothing at all. 0.8 A18-49, 1.1 A18-34, 1.6 W18-34.

V dropped 18% from last week (which I assume means 3.1.)

  11. GregB

So, pardon the Nielson newbie… are these good numbers?

  12. Derek Ferreira

I would assume this is a good number Greg given the fact that this show was tied at number 45 for that week.

  13. Some guy named John

Kind of a good number considering it airs at 5pm in the NY/NJ area.
Who watches TV on a Sunday afternoon

  14. It’s harder for me to opine on syndicated numbers, especially without any demos. Relative to some things its good. It would’ve been the number 1 scripted show on Syfy, passing SGU and Sanctuary by a wide margin.

It’s way off of its season 1 highs (where it averaged more than 4 million) but also way above its season 1 lows (1.1 rating in season 1)so it’s probably right around where ABC/Disney expected. But as far as prognosticating on a season 3 for a first-run syndicated show…I won’t prognosticate!

  15. pisher

They really went off on a new tangent this season, so it’ll be interesting to see if last year’s audience hangs around.

It deserves to be doing better than anything on SyFy, that’s for damn sure.

  16. pisher

(Well, leaving aside that fact that sometimes LOTS repeats are shown on SyFy)

    ;)

  17. Smallville

I think LOTS is an awsome show and that it’ll do better its just like smallville it may have started of bad but it will get better.
Also bill or robert do u guys know what the average rating and viewers for LOTS was last year?

  18. pisher

Smallville started off very well in the ratings–unfortunately. ;)

And I certainly hope LOTS doesn’t drag on for the better part of a decade. For one thing, it will get increasingly repetitious. For another, the actors deserve a chance to play other roles. Bridget Regan is an amazing talent.

  19. Eric (Ohio)

are those good numbers for the series, or bad?
I like the show a lot.

I find it extremely odd that the show has a Saturday at 6pm timeslot for new episodes.

Also, I find it extremely odd that season 2 takes place like 3 weeks after season 1 ended… but Richard Cypher has 11 months of hair growth. I guess the Power of Orden also contains the Power of Rogain!

I LOVE THIS SHOW…I wish more people watched it,,,Of course with the weird timeslot, 80% of people have never heard of it… This show is a surprise to me, I never thought I’d like it sooo much, but its addicting and It gets better and better I think season 2 is better than season 1…I love IT!!!
