Ok, so we were quick to post the news that Chuck will return on January 10 with a special two hour Sunday night premiere before resuming it's normal time slot Mondays at 8pm the following night, and we were also quick in including the video preview for season 3.
But Maureen Ryan has all that and more, including a lot of details from Chuck co-creator and executive producer Chris Fedak. Chris covers a lot of ground, including whether the premiere is really a two part episode or not and rather than clip the story, I recommend you just click over and read the details for yourself. But I will share this good news: Jeffster will return!
Update: Alan Sepinwall has posted the transcript of an interview today w/Fedak.

GO Jeffster
btw, I can feel the Chuck love beginning to once more radiate from the site! yipee!
in the article she says Chuck might still get up to 22 episodes,I don’t really see how that will work without running over into summer.
Anyway, great News! I’m marking January 10th on my Calendar!
actually guessing again, and taking into account the two weeks off for the olympics, with 22 episodes it would wrap up May 31st, so late, but not summer.
Thanks to Target running season 1 of Chuck on sale this week, I think I’ve found a new can’t miss show for my TV lineup!
Can’t wait to watch season 2 online and 3 in January!
John – Actually, the 19-episode run is due to end May 17. So 22 episodes would take them to June 7.
On the other hand, at the risk of repeating my earlier comment, a 21-episode run would run to May 31 (Memorial Day), and that would give them 56 episodes total — or two 22-episode seasons away from the golden 100 of syndication.
Now, syndication may not be as good for Chuck as it is for a procedural, but if “24″ can get syndication…
Excellent choice Andrew!
That Target deal (Season 1 for $12.99) is indeed a great one for anyone who has not yet checked out the show, or needs an extra copy to loan out to friends.
Isnt Chuck classes as a procedural?? i mean you dont have to watch every epiosde to get the story and each episode is stand alone (usually)
Move over Subtle Sexuality, here comes Jeffster!!!!!!!
OMG…NBC has to have a battle of the fake network bands…Subtle Sexuality vs. Jeffster! That would make a great SNL musical guest spot.
@Wendy
don’t forget, Chevy Chase was in a band (for one episode at least) in Community. You might be onto something.
Josh – No, Chuck isn’t really a procedural. It has enough arcs (including several multi-episode arcs with guest stars playing strong roles in the story) and storytelling progression throughout the season that it’s more than halfway serialized.
there was no mention of Julia Ling in this or the other Chuck post … does that mean no Anna Wu for season 3??
Anna is off the show.
That’s news to Julia, I think. Got a recent source on that? Just a week ago she was on a podcast saying that she was told she’s still on the show, but I guess she won’t be in much of the season. She’s only informed about the series on an episode-by-episode basis.
