I see nobody has taken up the gedankenexperiment. I of course couldn’t care less about when Schmoker’s kids go to bed. What I *am* curious about is whether the reaction would polarize around Lambert, say, wearing Dr. Dentons and dropping a log of cookie dough out the rear flap and having that be the object of fetishistic attention, versus having the same log of cookie dough hanging out of his fly.

The latter is surely nothing new since Kenneth Anger’s “Fireworks”; it’s the various boundaries that are of interest. One can make prissy “a homo did it” arguments all the live-long day without ascertaining where lies “depravity,” which would seem to be the crux of the matter.

I couldn’t care less about who did what at the AMAs. I didn’t even know they were on the air. However, there’s something to be said about an industry that still needs moments like this for a buzz, even if a man kissing another man on TV shouldn’t be such an issue.

Can’t people just go back to fighting over whether New Moon: Revenge of the Gay Vampires affected VDs ratings?

People are saying that it was on cable so the kiss was ok. How does that excuse “it was on cable” work anymore when almost everyone has cable? Like do children not get cable?

All that aside, the biggest crime of the whole act was that man’s terrible song and worse than terrible vocals. Yuck.

Personally, I’d prefer if BOTH male and female performers put their pants back on and just SANG THE DAMN SONG! This forced “sexiness” is just boring – genuinely sexy performers can do it without grinding their crotches in our faces.

That was pretty much my reaction. It’s all fun and games until the boys start making out!

I agree about the Superbowl, but hello? This kind of thing is par for the course at the AMAs going right back to when Michael Jackson grabbed his crotch as part of his performance.

Personally, I find the Bachelor and The Apprentice far more offensive than anything Adam Lambert could ever do. Unless he appeared on The Bachelor or The Apprentice.

Strike that. Oprah and Maury and such are the most twisted things I have ever seen on television, with Dr. Phil being perhaps the most odious example of that genre. Those are real people behaving in really twisted ways, and it scares the beejesus out of me to think of the generation coming into our society that was raised on that crap.

I get that along with all my other channels – I sometimes even watch it to listen to the nice, calming music. That’s right I actually choose what channel I want to watch.

And as for the person who said not all expressions are protected in America – well technically you’re right – but you’re basically wrong in what you’re saying. USA has the most liberal freedom of expression protection in the world. If you can have people promoting Holocaust denial then you can have a man who gyrates against another man’s crotch (simulated oral sex – whatever, if you thought it was simulated oral sex you obviously haven’t had any in a long time).

If your children (under age of 12) were watching – well that’s your crappy parenting. If you were watching – and you kept watching – well that’s your choice. And really if you’re an adult and you’re really repulsed by that to the point you need to complain then you’re seriously disturbed in my book. And the great thing about freedom of expression is that I can tell you that.

While I’m sick of hearing about him, I’m actually more sick of the overhype and overpraise of the media–the relentless thrusting down our throats of his “talent”. The critic’s reviews are, in majority, fantard letters of appreciation, pushing him to be a superstar just ’cause he’s gay. It’s ridiculous, and there are plenty of other talented, indie artists who get less appreciation when they deserve more.

That being said, I don’t give two sh!ts about Adam Lambert. (I voted for Kris Allen. From the beginning.) Kudos to him for having a saucy man-on-man kiss to balance out that nasty Madonna/Britney/Christina hoochie threesome. But epic fail with the facecrotch and molesting of women. And also for overcaking the makeup–nasty. (He seemed attractive before the show. Now Kris’s face is like the bright blue sky to Adam’s craters.)

I think the complains to the FCC are hilarious though. If you let your kids watch this show, you’re ridiculous and deserve everything. Did you MISS the part where Shakira was getting naughty?
