Michael Ausiello reports that although trades reported that Burn Notice had been picked up last summer, a USA insider tells Ausiello (exclusively, of course) that the pickup was only officially official officially as of yesterday.
But here's the thing: though the trades DID report it on July 28, USA Network itself issued an official press release confirming it on July 29.
TVbytheNumbers exclusive: USA Network will NOT release another press release officially renewing Burn Notice for a fourth season.
In other exclusive news, water is wet, Africa is hot, and Internet traffic is slow during holiday weeks.

Thanks for this exclusive exclusive, Robert.
Whatever would we do without you?
Excellent, just what I needed–explanation of an exclusive 4 months later. Also, do you have a source for that “water is wet” thing?
Wow, “officially official officially” so many officials!
Karen my source is “my bald head in the rain.” Good enough?
Dumb Ausiello Exclusives, now with their own category!
Ausiello’s arrogance is off the charts. He announced on twitter he had a House spoiler, so he told people to vote whether he should release it today or on Thanksgiving. Later he said that it was “too close to call.” I looked at all the people the tweeted to him, and almost none wanted it on Thanksgiving.
Seriously he passed this off an exclusive four months after the network wrote a press release?
Speaking of hinting stuff on Twitter, whatever came of that tweet from someone or other implying that a cult fandom had good news on the way?
Julia that was TFC re: Chuck (and they did have it hours ahead of the official announcement). The TFC bad news for cult fandom was the Fringe hiatus — which still isn’t officially official
@Julia,
The Futon Critic hinted that a fandom had good news on the way a few hours before the scheduling news for Chuck came out. He (they?) also tweeted yesterday that a fandom had bad news on the way in reference to the Fringe hiatus announced today.
sigh…too slow…
Ah, the connection didn’t occur to me.
Good way of reminding people about the show before winter premier. Still hate eight episode split seasons. If you’re going to do that, give me at least 10 each.
for a bunch of people who hate ausiello, you all seem to follow him obsessively, both on ew and twitter. pathetic.
a, hate him? More like “are amused by his goofiness” in my case.
Who me? I love Ausiello!!! Dumb exclusives and all.
I don’t hate him, I just acknowledge he is very, very arrogant. He has the best scoops which makes him somewhat invaluable to people that like to follow television closely.
Oh this is silly. I like Kristin of E! better but I admit he do have some access to good scoops.
I am delighted that Burn Notice is continuing! I like it better than any other prime time show on cable with the exception of Law & Order, Special Victims Unit.
It is great to see Sharon Gless again; Cambell, Westen and Anwar round out a funny, intense and always exciting ensemble.
You guys are always hating on Ausiello
