By definition, the suspense of Human Target comes from HOW does he keep from getting killed every week.

While we’re fretting about shows having long layoffs and the like, let’s remember that Fox begins its fall season earlier than the other networks. The newer, untested shows tend to go on in early September while the big favorites (like House or Fringe) get a late September start. Actually Fox has kinda written the book on a ‘year-round season’, considering they never premiere 24 or American Idol before January.

With that in mind whatever lands in the Human Target slot from April will likely find itself pre-empted at least once if not more often. I’m thinking that Lie To Me will get the slot and run through to June at least maybe with Hell’s Kitchen replacing Idol to act as lead-in for it.

So basically, Fox has not aired regular content past 10pm since 1993? What prompted this change? Is this part of a grander test? Is fox looking to add an hour or two of content every week?

@Devdog–I think you’ve hit the nail on the head about Lie to Me. I think Fox is expecting one of the new shows to fail, and fail pretty quickly, which means they can bring it back sooner than announced.

@Dan–Fox is trying to skew the American Idol audience back to a younger crowd by scheduling a family show like Our Little Genius after it. It’s a smart move if it works.

If they were thinking of canceling Fringe, they would have announced it had been moved to Fridays. Kitchen Nightmares is a reality TV show that can run whenever. But if FOX wants to pull the plug, even though they have a full season order, they would have moved the show to Friday.

HUMAN TARGET? No reaction on that at all. One problem is he can never get killed. Sort of takes the suspense out of it. And if he had dead clients, odds are he would be out of business pretty fast. Again, takes the suspense out of it.

The worst of the lot: OUT LITTLE GENIUS – more annoying smart ass kids. No Thank you!

“24″ – will watch that, though its getting long in the tooth. Im still waiting for “24: Jacks Day Off” that goes like this:

“12AM – 8AM” (First 8 episodes we watch Jack sleep, dream, talk in his sleep, in episode 4 he gets up and goes to the bathroom mumbling _ I knew I shouldnt have drunk 6 beers before going to bed”.

“8AM – 9AM” – Shower, shave, breakfast of scambled eggs and bacon while watching the news on TV”

“10AM-Noon” – Jack goes to the mall to shop.

“12PM – 1PM” – Lunch at a local Chinese joint where he meets Chloe for lunch. They decide to see the movie “2012″

“1PM – 3PM” – Jack and Chloe watch “2012″ commenting how unreliastic the plot is and how Jack could easily have prevented the whole mess from occuring in the first place”.

“3PM – 5PM” – Jack goes home and watches 2 episodes of BONANZA while doing the NY Times Crossword Puzzle.

“5PM – 6PM” – Jack watches Glenn Beck on FOX News while eating an entire large delivered pizza.

“6PM – 7PM” – Jack pays his bills.

“7PM – 8PM” – Jack takes a nap.

“8PM – 10PM” – Orders up DIE HARD on Pay-per-view and comments how he cold have taken out all those Eurotrash terrorists in half the time.

“10PM – 11PM” – Cleans out his refrigerator and drinks a six pack of beer.

“11PM – Midnight” – Jack snores, then at 11:59 PM, the phone rings……. Jack says “Son of a b—-”!

P.S. – The procedural fans that watch Bones might also watch CSI, and that would be another group of viewers that the show could lose. Bones is good, but not House or 24 good, that it can take on all-comers.

LOL. “Tucson” is bad, but not quite that bad.

But bad enough that I’m sure you’ll someday be seeing it on UniversalHD’s “Rediscovered TV” right alongside reruns of “Greetings from Tucson.”

Go Glee though!

Very bright of FOX (and Ryan Murphy… “Eat Pray Love”… really?… that couldn’t wait?) to put that musical thing on a four-month hiatus. They keep on taking that one off for months at a time and bouncing it all over the place, they’re soon going to find its fickle teenage girl audience doing what fickle teenage girls do best — moving on to the next flash-in-the-pan fad.

Looks like Fox is all set to replace whichever of the new shows tanks the worst with Lie To Me . . . .

they give old shows a break to premiere a new show then bring back the old show for new episodes after the new show’s finale.

And a long break for Glee!!! Seriously! I’m not a big fan of the show but cmon April 2009!???

Is Bones produced by FOX? Why don’t they switch Bones with Fringe? Bones has been rock solid at any timeslot, Fringe and FlashForward share the same audience so Fringe would eat away at ABCs demo

Once IDOL comes back it’ll dent NCIS:LA and it’ll be in 4th place.
Glee and Biggest Loser should both compete for 2nd.
LOST should win the hour.

But yeah the Winter Olympics should put up big numbers this year, since with it being in PST there will be a lot of live events in primetime.

I hereby christen them the February sweeps of Winter Olympics avoidance!

Even if Past Life bombs, that still won’t save Fringe. Crappy ratings are crappy ratings.
