go Castle!
Great news for Castle! Last night proved that it doesn’t need the huge DWTS lead-in to survive. Now it’s up to ABC to decide where to put Castle in mid-season: Mondays @ 10 after The Bachelor, or Sundays @ 8 after EMHE.
So when can we expect the updated renew/cancel index? I think I’m becoming an addict!
Castle rock the face off the world!
ABChasproblemas, no way ABC will move DH because of Castle. I think Castle will air after the younger skewing Bachelor.
this is the first place i come to when i get in from work
DH wouldn’t be moved, cool. AFV would be shipped to a new night and EMHE would be moved up to 7pm. If Castle survived at 8pm on Sundays, it could then be officially referred to as the Bones of ABC.
Becki, Nielsen is behind with publishing the weekly numbers used for the Renew/Cancel reports. Hopefully they’ll go up later today or tomorrow, but last night’s numbers won’t be included until next weeks reports (which will likely be delayed a day due to the Thanksgiving holiday)
Thanks Robert, I needed clarification on that!
I think Castle is already the Bones of ABC. Following the same basic pattern, isn’t it? And despite their many blunders with other series, ABC seemingly has the smarts to see this one as having the potential to be a solid part of their lineup for a long, long time. They’ve let Castle slowly grow on people, and week in and week out, it’s rewarded them for their patience. They, like us fans, have to be even more encouraged this week. Season highs the week it loses DWTS? That’s pleasantly surprising even to enthusiasts like me.
I’ll go with the cliche: GO CASTLE!
Robert, I don’t know if you saw this but Travis also posted this:

@Cullen – Not a big surprise with the DWTS overrun. Still a decent premiere, though. Not great, but decent for what it is.
Ryan, I think Cullen’s point is that Castle had an even better retention from the 9:45 quarter hour.
yeah that’s what i was saying thanks for clarifying
Mm nearly 100% – so glad pisher has been proven wrong for once!
What is Find My Family? I’ve never heard of it before – is it a new reality show?
Pisher is usually wrong one of his big arguments against Castle is that it doesn’t win its timeslot (CSI:Miami beats it) but networks look at shows in terms of the network average so winning one’s timeslot doesn’t really matter (as shown by House coming in 3rd last night).
Well technically House came in first as it’s really the demo that’s important not total viewers – but yes you’re right pisher goes on about how low the ratings are for Dexter in a relative sense – but he fails to take into account how successful it is given the number of homes Showtime is in (although he makes comments like HBO is only in 2.5x homes and the ratings wouldn’t be 2.5x better on HBO etc which are generally flawed).
woohoo castle has held its 2.7 and a series high without a DWTS as its lead in showing it can stand on its own 2 feet is this the bones of abc
Congrats to Castle, that’s a good sign.
Wow, TBBT finally beat 2.5 Men in viewers and cheer to HIMYM’s season high ratings
