Fox -- the perennial winner among 18-49 viewers for the last five seasons -- now takes its first November sweeps period win, thanks to a late-scheduled and dramatic World Series. That's in addition to a continued strong prime-time lineup, including "House," "Family Guy" and newcomer "Glee."
Fox is currently averaging a Nielsen live-plus-same-day 3.6 rating, which is 20% higher than in November 2008. Fox is the only network of the big four to improve its November sweeps ratings year-to-year.
ABC earned a 3.1 rating for November; CBS was right behind with a 3.0; NBC had a 2.6, and CW finished with a 1.2.

Congrats fox thanks for Glee and House
Actually its probably because of the World Series.
Good job Fox. House and Glee are fantastic, indeed……keep the creative streak going!
Dear New York Yankees,
Congratulations on your World Series victory. Thank you for our sweeps win.
Signed,
Rupert Murdoch
It is just a JOY to see GLEE every week….keep going FOX. Not only do you have the best news channel; you now have the best network shows too !!
WOWWW ABC second !!!!!!!
Glee honestly doesn’t deserve that credit. World Series is what did it.
Wow, I am surprised. I thought CBS had the book won.
I’m more surprised by ABC’s 2nd place finish than Fox’s 1st place. Was this expected?
ABC has 2 shows that get 5s demo plus they had the 2 music awards shows. Thats what got them 2nd place.
Johnthemon, Glee doesn’t deserve the credit? It’s one of the best shows on tv right now.
Only because of World Series, despite some quality shows putting good numbers. But when I say some I don’t mean the whole schedule, which is, for me, unpleasing.
Also, Fox News the best news channel? Alright, what? Seriously, that’s crap. Never on earth I’d think that a news channel that manipulates a lot – and not here and there, but A LOT – and only shows a point of view is a good, or even a decent, news channel.
Glee pulled in a 2.5 demo Wednesday with only 6.3 million viewers.
House is down to 4.5 demo, a big drop from 7+ two seasons ago and has lost over a third of its overall auidence.
The World Series won it for Fox.
They need to make their regular shows better because there is no World Series in February or May.
Kate, but there is American Idol in February & May, which usually takes care of FOX during February and May. This year it has the Olympics to contend with in February, plus Ellen instead of Paula Abdul.
Glee pulled in a 2.5 demo Wednesday with only 6.3 million viewers.
To put Glee into context, Lie To Me, which only now got the back-order for the last 9 episodes, is doing well, had 2.7 in the demo and 7.27 million viewers.
Castle, which is in the ‘may be cancelled’ area, also had 2.7 in the demo and 10.46 million viewers. That Glee is a hit while Castle is not is the bizarro world of TV ratings.
Of the three, Glee is doing the worst and yet it’s considered the hit.
Kate, except for the pre-Thanksgiving Wednesday, which any reasonable person could discount, Glee has averaged a 3.30 rating this fall. That’s why it’s in a better situation than Castle which has averaged a 2.36.
There’s a huge difference between a 2.36 and a 3.30.
To johnthemon’s point, anything under Fox’s average for the month of November was pulling it down. Fox averaged 3.6, Glee averaged less than that. Yes, it’s doing very good and Fox is definitely happy with it, but it can’t really be given credit for Fox winning November sweeps.
(But, seriously, Kate? You haven’t figured out yet that the night before Thanksgiving is an anomaly? Everything was way down, and will doubtless bounce right back up.)
@ Kate,
Yes, there will be no World Series in Feb / May but Idol is back as well as Jack Bauer plus premiere of Human Traget so FOX will recover.
why did the CW take the last week of the sweeps as repeats only- it must have really hurt them
FOX’s average fell 0.7 between November 9 and 25.
“Through Nov. 8, FOX ranks No. 1 among adults 18-49 (4.3/12), No. 1 among adults 18-34 (3.8/12) and No. 1 among teens (2.1/8) in the November Sweeps.”
