Away from that Glee consistently and impressively builds on its lead-in every week. Two weeks ago for example So You Think You Can Dance pulled a 2.1 in the 18-49, Glee meanwhile scored a 3.3 that’s a big jump. More importantly than that though is Glee’s performance in the 18-34 demo, which is the demo Fox went on record as saying they were targeting on Wednesday night before the season started. Nothing else on Wednesday is touching Glee’s 18-34 numbers and every week its aired it has easily led Fox to victory in the 18-34 demo.

Above and beyond all that though is the shows success with women 18-34 which is huge. Again two weeks ago the show did a 5.4 with women 18-34. I suspect that the only shows that can beat or compete with that number would be Grey’s and Desperate Housewives right now but I don’t really know. But if you think Fox isn’t raking in the dollars with numbers like that you’re living in a dream land. The commercial success of the shows musical numbers can’t hurt its success rating either.

Whether you like Glee or not (and clearly you’re not a fan) its hard to deny that Glee has been anything but a success story for Fox. If nothing else when was the last time a new drama on Fox did a 3+ every week (excluding the Thanksgiving anomaly Glee has done that) without the aid of a weekly House or Idol lead-in? In fact when was the last time any drama on Fox done that without the aid of a weekly Idol or House lead-in?

If it gets beaten in its own timeslot by two other programs, how can it be a strength for Fox? I came from a science background maybe that’s why I can’t make any sense of these numbers.

As regards House, it’s still strong but nowhere as strong as it was a year ago much less two years ago. Fox can still boast about it but they’d better come up with a good stunt for February sweeps.

“Through Nov. 8, FOX ranks No. 1 among adults 18-49 (4.3/12), No. 1 among adults 18-34 (3.8/12) and No. 1 among teens (2.1/8) in the November Sweeps.”

Yes, there will be no World Series in Feb / May but Idol is back as well as Jack Bauer plus premiere of Human Traget so FOX will recover.

(But, seriously, Kate? You haven’t figured out yet that the night before Thanksgiving is an anomaly? Everything was way down, and will doubtless bounce right back up.)

There’s a huge difference between a 2.36 and a 3.30.

To put Glee into context, Lie To Me, which only now got the back-order for the last 9 episodes, is doing well, had 2.7 in the demo and 7.27 million viewers.

Castle, which is in the ‘may be cancelled’ area, also had 2.7 in the demo and 10.46 million viewers. That Glee is a hit while Castle is not is the bizarro world of TV ratings.

Of the three, Glee is doing the worst and yet it’s considered the hit.

House is down to 4.5 demo, a big drop from 7+ two seasons ago and has lost over a third of its overall auidence.

The World Series won it for Fox.

They need to make their regular shows better because there is no World Series in February or May.

Also, Fox News the best news channel? Alright, what? Seriously, that’s crap. Never on earth I’d think that a news channel that manipulates a lot – and not here and there, but A LOT – and only shows a point of view is a good, or even a decent, news channel.
