Hah, Magnus giving Will a hard time over his “libido”! This looks like a different version of the season one episode where they were stuck in her submarine with her going nutso due to a brain parasite, or the one where they were stuck in a downed airplane with a Yeti killing off the passengers.
Looks like it should be one of those tense “where is the monster and how do we get it before it gets us” episodes.

I liked the interchange between Magnus and Will in the Sanctuary preview. Very funny. Looks like a good ep. Giant vampire squid – can’t wait.

Here’s something I just found. This is from a lady named Tania
“Looks like there is a huge interest in taking SGU off the air and bringing back Atlantis. I have just made a petition for it so go and sign it if you like and please spread the word.”
I fear for Sanctuary. That does look a little like the ep with Will and Helen trapped on a sub. Fingers crossed.

It’s nice that fans still want Atlantis back but TPTB obviously treat it as the red haired stepchild. They gave up on the writing in the last season and the finale was a rushed mess. They have no interest in making an Atlantis movie. They don’t even talk about Atlantis characters on Universe but SG-1 characters get to guest star. They want to ignore and forget it.

Eh. I really like Stargate Universe. I can’t be the only one. (I also thought Atlantis season 5 was pretty much awful)

Atlantis will never come back. Deal with it!
Its strange to see all the love Atlantis is getting now, when it was hated in it last 2 seasons.

@TomKH
I don’t think that people “hated” Atlantis during its last 2 seasons. I do think that lots of people were frustrated with the writing and some of the cast changes. Atlantis had so much potential, and the writers were acting like they didn’t know this.
There were definitely some good episodes like First Contact, but the writing was getting tired and everyone could see that. This is one of the problems with SGU, it has the SAME writers and it shows. But, where some new writing blood would have really helped Atlantis, SGU for me is almost beyond fixing.
With 9 episodes they have already written SGU in to a hole so deep, it makes the 5th Season of Atlantis look Oscar-worthy.
I never wanted Atlantis canceled. And I think I’m not alone here.
P.S.
A petition won’t help the show, but it might help the movie, maybe. I’ve heard it’s canceled and I’ve heard that they are just waiting for the ok to make it when the economy gets better. I don’t know which is right(???).

I heard they are never going to make the movie, good economy or bad. There was a falling out between the producers and some of the actors.
Atlantis had some big flaws, but it looks fantastic when put next to the boring soap opera that is Universe.

I can’t help but agree, that no matter what problems I had with Atlantis in its’ last season, it was far and away a better, more entertaining show (for me) than SGU has turned out to be.

I just read an interview where Brad Wright said:
“So, you know, at the end of the day you have to trust yourself and the general fan response, not specific fan responses. And that comes down to viewership – are people tuning in and do people seem to watching en masse? That’s the only real barometer you have.”
So, if anyone thinks that by watching the show and then complaining that the producers are listening is wrong according to Brad.
The ONLY thing they understand is viewership, plain and simple.
If you watch/DVR SGU and don’t like it, you are essentially telling them that you do.
Just thought you all might want to know this.

I think you should just leave these forms. All you can do is say all that is negitive about SGU (In your option) and wah-wah about it. SGU is not SG-1 or SGA, its a completly new show and should not be compared to SGA/SG-1. If you dont like it, dont watch it, and stop caring about it (you must since you ALWAYS on these forms bashing it).
@Everyone else
If you dont like the show dont watch it, Its that simple. I like that SGU has character development and is building the story then just recycling the old formula and holding your hand. If I wanted that I’ll watch every other SyFy show out there (Farscape, SG1, SGA, Startrek, etc). I wanted some new and SGU is it. Now I didn’t like it right from the beginning (I was still in the old SyFy show mindset) but I grew to love what is was trying to accomplish on SGU. The dark tone, character development and over feel of the show is a breath of fresh air for SyFy shows. Apperently I’m not the old one since they are still getting 3m viewers per episode (SD + Live + 7 Day DVR). Theres no doubt there will be a second season and its gonna be better then the first.

@James
If you do like the show, then watch it. And stop trying to tell other people what to do. And where are you getting your DVR numbers from? Are you a NETWORK INSIDER? Because I can’t find those numbers you keep yelping about.
IF you are, I bet you would like us all to shup up. Well, too bad! I’m not going anywhere. So get used to it, buck-o!
And as far as RECYCLING goes, give me a break! Stargate Universe has heavily recycled plots from just about EVERY other show you could think of! Here are a few examples:
- All of these random strangers are thown together on an unknow ship after an attack: Uh, kind of like LOST where all of these random stangers were thrown together on an unknown island after a crash!
- Dark lighting, shaky camera work, depressed mood: Battlestar Galactica!
- Lost in Space concept: From Lost In Space!
- A computer geek solves a game and gets sucked in to things that way: Sounds like the Last Starfighter.
And this is just a few. Don’t get me wrong, if they want to borrow from other shows/movies that’s okay. But it’s not original.
James, if you really think that SGU is original, then you haven’t watched much of anything else because I can tell you that it’s not. Although it is originally bad in a Soap Opera way considering that it’s supposed to be Sci-fi.
What bothers me is that OTHER shows have done what they are trying to do much more successfully. I like good drama, but this show isn’t bringing it. And you having a tantrum that lots of other people don’t like it and can see SGU for what it is, isn’t going to change that, or make us go away. Sorry!

@Morena
Actually the how show is quite original. Every sci-fi show bases small things here that other shows have done but that’s because of the sci-fi the genre itself. Most Sci-fi shows are in space (or deep space), The filming is similar to BSG but still unique and better with the lighting, effects, etc (the kino thing in Time was awesome), And the computer game was a very very small piece of the show where as in The Last Starfighter it was the premise of whole movie. Hell you can say any sci-fi show that has spaceships is borrowing from all other sci-fi shows that have space ships. I have pretty much watched every sci-fi show that’s out there (more so 1990′s+) and if this show wasn’t original and different there wouldn’t be as much controversy over it. As for the ratings it was on syfy’s website in late October to early November stating that the first 3 episode averaging 2.8 million viewers with Live + 7 Days (about 600K of those being DVR views) and it was later discussed that there was a drop in Live views but an increase in DVR viewings for the next 3 episodes and that they have pretty much retained all there viewers from the premiere (Josephs Blog). Even without the DVR number the show has only dropped 20% of live viewings from the premiere to the 9th episode which is amazing for any new show. And as your bashing, pretty much every post you write is negative and wa-wa. So stop crying and just find something better to do with your time.

I haven’t shed a tear over SGU, and please don’t hold your breath if you think I will. It’s nice to know that you clarified or corrected yourself in stating that your DVR numbers are only for the first 3 shows. And actually, SGU is again, only original in how badly it is trying to do what other shows have actually been able to do successfully.
And as far as finding something better to do with one’s time is concerned, you seem to be quite the frequent and repetitive commentator yourself. Don’t you have better things to do with your time?
Most of your comments have been gushingly positive for a show that isn’t quite up to par with other shows in the genre. Yes, Sci-Fi by nature tends to deal with space ships and outer space. That’s why you didn’t read any complaints anywhere from anyone about that.
Maybe you should stop howling your praises and just find something better to do with your time.

The published article was the first 3 eps but the other stuff came from his blog stating that they have retained almost all of there viewers and what they lost on live viewings was made up from DVR’s (So you do the math that puts viewers about 2.6-3m). Also for the past 2 weeks they have actually increased in viewers to 1.89m (for live without the DVR 7 Daya data). As you recall I didn’t say that SGU was the best and didn’t need little tweaks here and there I have only stated that I enjoy the fresh direction of the show and that its only getting better.
